Using the SpermQT Test to Complete Your Path to Fertility with guest Dr. Kristin Brogaard

Today, Dr. Kristin Brogaard is joining me today to talk about the Path Fertility SpermQT test. I'm so excited to have her share about the test, because as you'll hear her say "lots of infertility goes undiagnosed because men go undiagnosed, and when men go undiagnosed, women go through procedures that will not work." (Who else wants to see this on a bumper sticker?) While sperm were long considered to be just carriers of DNA, it turns out they are a lot more complex than that! Understanding the sperm side of the equation can help anyone trying to conceive better understand what's going on, and help them figure out the best plan to get pregnant. A few exciting highlights from our discussion: Male and sperm epigenetics play a big role in getting pregnant, and having a successful live birth. The SpermQT test can tell someone if their sperm is excellent, average, or poor quality. - Knowing this information can help you and your doctor determine the most efficient and appropriate next steps in your treatment or protocols. Understanding the quality of the sperm can lead to better outcomes. If it is "excellent," there is an increased likelihood of IUI working, even in cases where doctors thought sperm might be the issue with getting pregnant. If sperm quality is "poor," you may want to try making lifestyle changes to improve sperm quality, and retest. - Poor sperm quality often correlates with other longer term health issues for men, as sperm acts as a "canary in the coal mine." (an early warning system) Dr. Kristin Brogaard has a PhD from Northwestern University where she developed a novel epigenetic technology that allowed for a more accurate understanding of gene expression in health and disease cells. She is now the chief scientific officer of Path Fertility, whose goal is to raise the standard in male reproductive health, starting with male infertility. Thank you for joining us, Kristin! 7 Things About the Trigger Shot You Didn't Know

Get the full show notes: https://www.draimee.org/the-7-things-you-didnt-know-about-the-trigger-shot   I often tell my patients that we should rename the Trigger Shot, the super unicorn sparkle shot, the egg launcher shot, or the EGG-cellerator shot. Let's be honest, the Trigger Shot is the worst name for something that does so much good on a fertility journey.⠀ In this episode, I'm sharing all about The Trigger Shot, and giving you the 7 things you need to know about it. Should you test for ovulation afterwards, and if so, when? Do you have to have a Trigger Shot? Can you administer it at home, or does it need to be in a doctor's office? When should you check for pregnancy after the shot to make sure it isn't in your system anymore?⠀ See the full show notes here. Purchase my book, The Egg Whisperer Way. A New Vision for Egg Donation: Open, Informed and Empowered - Dr. Diane Tober Reads From 'Eggonomics'

Dr. Diane Tober specializes in reproductive technologies, bioethics, and the commodification of the body, and her groundbreaking book Eggonomics brings all of that expertise together in one essential read for anyone curious about the egg and sperm donation industry. We dig into one of the most compelling stories from her book: the journey of Allyn, a woman who navigated the egg donation process on her own terms. Through Allyn's experience, Dr. Tober and I explore what it really means to donate thoughtfully with full information, a clear sense of your own values, and an eye toward the humans who may one day be born from that decision. This conversation is about empowerment, reproductive justice, and reimagining a system that too often prioritizes commerce over connection. In this episode, we cover: What prospective egg donors should research before committing to any clinic or agency How one donor's experience revealed racial bias in the egg donation industry The difference between anonymous and open donation and why it matters for donor-conceived people How hearing from donor-conceived individuals changed one donor's perspective on financial compensation and identity The concept of "egg sharing" as an alternative model for donation Why grounding egg donation in reproductive justice and human rights leads to better outcomes for everyone Dr. Tober's vision for a more transparent, ethical, and connection-centered donation industry Resources: Eggonomics by Dr. Diane Tober, available on Amazon Dr. Diane Tober's site  Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4w20dXVKYd9A81PTNkyzXQ Join The IVF Class: https://the-egg-whisperer-school.teachable.com/p/the-ivf-class/ Read the blog: https://draimee.org/the-show Would you like to learn more about IVF? At Home Insemination with Mosie Baby

Imagine an insemination kit with a syringe specifically designed for the female body that you can use with your partner or sperm donor in the comfort of your own home. I'm delighted to have Maureen Brown, co-founder of Mosie Baby joining me on the this week to talk about the home insemination kit that she and her husband designed after being faced with infertility.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ As you know, I really love innovative products and ideas that help people reach their goals. Anything that helps demystify fertility and helps women get pregnant is a win in my book. What I love about the Mosie Baby story is that Maureen and her husband decided to create a product that they could not find and wished existed during their fertility journey. We talk about how the kit was invented, her own experience using it, how it works, and about some of her favorite success stories. How to Prevent Infertility

I've yet to meet someone that dreamed of the day they could become my patient. You may dream of your wedding day. Or maybe you may fantasize about your next vacation destination, or the day you buy a house or seeing your future child graduate from high school. But I'm guessing that when you think of those milestones in life, my bet is that nowhere in that world are you thinking about me — a fertility doctor?  It's just not happening. And here's the thing: while I love my patients and have been known to tell a good joke or two, it's my honest hope that I never have to meet you. That's because deep down, I want to PREVENT infertility. My job as a doctor is to do my best to ensure I educate you enough that many of you will never need to visit me. Of course, many of you may become my patients, and I truly do love the work I get to do. Today on the podcast, I'm making the bold move to outline how you can go about not becoming my patient. If you follow Patagonia clothing company, it's sort of like how they have ads that say, "Don't Buy This Shirt." They are a company that's about sustainability. They don't want you to buy another shirt. Well, I guess I'm the Patagonia of fertility medicine. I don't want you to need my services. Read the full show notes on Dr. Aimee's website. 7. When it Comes to Your Fertility: What is Fact vs. Fiction?

When it Comes to Your Fertility: What is Fact vs. Fiction?

I know there are a lot of fertility myths out there, and some can be downright perplexing if you're trying to do everything you can to have a successful pregnancy. And, when you've been a fertility doctor for a while, let me tell you, you will hear it all. So in this episode, I'm tackling TWENTY of the most common fertility myths in a little thing I like to call "Fertility: Fact or Fiction." I love talking about these types of things because once you know the truth, you also have a better idea of what may be happening in your own body. I think most people now realize that sperm does in fact matter when you're TTC. But, do you need both of your fallopian tubes? Is marijuana safe when you're TTC? Can someone born without a uterus have a uterine transplant? Is an ovarian cyst something to be concerned about? Of course, these questions matter, and I want everyone to feel comfortable asking their doctor about them (and for answers to the above: no, no, yes, no). Do you have questions about IVF, and what to expect?
