Jared Kleinstein, CEO of Fresh Tape Media and @OnGondola joins The Trey Wingo Show to tell the story behind his company’s lawsuit against LIV Golf over more than $1.2 million in unpaid work. Fresh Tape had worked with LIV since 2024, helping produce its media days and coordinating everything from branded and commercial shoots to podcasts and content production. Jared says the relationship was positive, the work was approved and there had been no payment problems before. Then the money stopped coming. As Fresh Tape waited to be paid, Jared says his company made sure its own creatives and contractors were taken care of. “Not a single vendor was paid late” through Fresh Tape, even while the company itself was still waiting on LIV. Jared explains when he realized this was becoming more than a normal late invoice, the repeated attempts to resolve the situation, and the offer that changed everything: according to Jared, LIV offered $200,000 to settle roughly $1.2 million in outstanding invoices before reducing that offer to $150,000. He also responds to LIV CEO Scott O’Neil’s comments about wanting to do right by vendors and explains why, despite the lawsuit, he does not have the anger toward LIV that many might expect. In fact, if Fresh Tape is paid and the right protections are in place, Jared says he would work with a potential LIV 2.0 again. It’s a firsthand look at what happens when the people and companies behind a major sports operation do the work, pay their teams and are left fighting to collect what they say they are owed. Golf Live heads into Bellerive as the FedEx Cup Playoffs move into their second week, and Trey Wingo and Justin Ray start by looking back at one of the most memorable championships the course has ever hosted. They revisit the 2018 PGA Championship, the massive St. Louis crowds, Tiger Woods’ charge, Brooks Koepka answering him shot for shot, and why Bellerive remains such a memorable venue for big-time golf. Justin also looks ahead to what the BMW Championship could demand from the top 50 players still alive in the FedEx Cup race, including why scoring could be low and what kind of game may play best this week. From there, the conversation turns to the increasingly uncertain future of LIV Golf. Trey and Justin discuss the canceled team championship, reports surrounding unpaid players and vendors, questions around the league’s future, and what could happen next for some of its biggest names. They also get into the reported possibility of Jon Rahm seeking a path back to the PGA Tour, Ian Poulter’s comments about LIV’s future, and what happens to players like Dustin Johnson, David Puig and Tom McKibbin if the landscape continues to change. The bigger question is what comes next for professional golf and whether we eventually get back to having the best players competing together week in and week out. Scottie Scheffler is back in the winner’s circle, and the rest of the FedEx Cup field may have a problem. After an eight-shot win in Memphis and the best putting week of his career, Justin Ray explains why another week like that could leave everyone else playing for second. But Scottie’s dominance leads into a bigger conversation about the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Rory McIlroy struggled in Memphis, yet his season-long position means he is already secure for East Lake. That raises a bigger question about what a true PGA Tour postseason should look like: should every player have to perform in each playoff event to keep advancing? Trey and Justin get into the current format, what could make the playoffs more competitive, the importance of rewarding performance when the stakes are highest, and why any future system still needs consistency and player buy-in to truly matter. This week on Golf Live, Trey Wingo and Justin Ray look back at the opening event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and Scottie Scheffler’s dominant eight-shot win at TPC Southwind. After the best putting week of his career and another runaway victory, they put Scottie’s season into perspective, compare his level of dominance to Tiger Woods, and discuss whether anyone can slow him down over the final two weeks of the playoffs. The conversation then turns to Rory McIlroy after a disappointing week in Memphis and what realistic expectations should be for him heading into the BMW Championship. Trey and Justin also take a bigger look at the FedEx Cup Playoffs themselves, including whether the current format puts enough pressure on players to perform from week to week and what could make the postseason feel more like a true playoff. Next up is Bellerive and the BMW Championship. They look back at the incredible atmosphere surrounding Tiger Woods and Brooks Koepka at the 2018 PGA Championship, what makes Bellerive such a unique venue, and what kind of golf could be coming this weekend as the field gets cut from 50 players to the final 30 headed to East Lake. They also discuss the latest uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf, including the canceled team championship, questions surrounding payments, the possibility of players looking for a path back to the PGA Tour, and what a potential next version of LIV could look like. And as always, the show closes with your questions. This week: whether LIV ultimately made the PGA Tour better, how anyone beats Scottie if he keeps putting like this, whether St. Louis deserves a regular place on the golf calendar, Jeeno Thitikul’s place among the best players without a major, Jordan Spieth missing the BMW Championship, and how players on the bubble should approach their final chance to reach East Lake. Damien Woody joins us on this episode of The Trey Wingo Show to talk about what life looks like after 15 years at ESPN, the freedom that comes with choosing what he actually wants to talk about, and why he still wants to keep the focus on real football conversations without all the extra noise. From there, Damien gets into the part of the game he knows best: offensive line play. He explains why technique matters just as much as size and strength, why the center is basically the quarterback of the offensive line, and how important continuity is when it comes to building a great unit. He also gives his thoughts on some of the best offensive lines in football heading into the season, including Denver, the Chargers, the Rams, Philadelphia, Buffalo and Dallas. Damien also looks back on his time with the Patriots and Jets, what Bill Belichick was really trying to accomplish in preseason games, and why coaches like Dante Scarnecchia and Bill Callahan had such a major impact on his career. He explains why coaching can completely change a player’s development and why landing in the right situation matters just as much as talent. The conversation also covers Will Campbell’s development in New England, what preseason football can actually tell us, why September can feel like an extension of the preseason, and why Brandon Moore deserves to be remembered for a lot more than the Butt Fumble. It’s a conversation about life after ESPN, what really goes into playing offensive line in the NFL, and why so much of what happens on Sundays still starts up front. Kevin Van Valkenburg joins Trey Wingo for a wide ranging conversation about where LIV Golf stands right now and what could be coming next. With Indianapolis approaching, they get into what Kevin expects from the event, why there is so much uncertainty around LIV’s future, and why the idea that the money would simply be there forever was never as straightforward as people made it sound. They also look at how LIV got to this point and whether the league was ever really built to function as a sustainable business. Kevin explains why he always viewed LIV as more of a disruptive force, what may have gone wrong along the way, and why it now feels like the league is running out of road. Then the conversation turns to Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau. What would a path back to the PGA Tour actually look like for Rahm? Why could Bryson’s situation be very different? And how would the players already on the Tour feel about either of them coming back? From there, Trey and Kevin get into Rory McIlroy and how his priorities have changed after winning the Masters, why regular PGA Tour events may not carry the same weight for him anymore, and what still motivates a player who has already accomplished so much. They also talk Scottie Scheffler, what separates his competitive mindset, and why Kevin believes he is as well positioned as anyone to pile up majors over the rest of his career. Plus, Kevin gives his thoughts on Brian Rolapp, the changes that could be coming to the PGA Tour, and the challenges ahead as the Tour figures out its next version. And because it is Trey and Kevin, they eventually find their way to football. They talk about the new look Ravens, Caleb Williams and the Bears, and whether the NFL may finally be approaching a point where putting games on more and more days of the week starts to take something away from what made the league so powerful in the first place. In this Golf Live mailbag segment, Trey Wingo and Justin Ray react to the latest uncertainty around LIV Golf, including the reported investor situation and why the weekly updates still do not feel like real clarity. They also discuss Joaquin Niemann’s continued success on LIV and why major championship contention is still the piece that could change how his career is viewed. From there, Trey and Justin turn to viewer questions. Was Michael Brennan’s Wyndham win one of the best pressure performances of the PGA Tour season? What comes first for Brooks Koepka’s putting struggles — fixing the stroke or fixing the confidence? Does Beau Hossler need something more in his game, or just the right Sunday to finally break through? They also get into Scottie Scheffler’s Player of the Year case, whether Presidents Cup captain’s picks should reward the full season or the hot hand, and whether three straight PGA Tour winners age 24 or younger means golf is watching a changing of the guard happen in real time. From LIV updates to FedEx Cup pressure to the biggest viewer questions of the week, this is the Golf Live mailbag. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Over seven million people watched the Hall of Fame Game because we missed football that much. Preseason is here, the uniforms are back, and every good drive suddenly feels like it might mean something huge. But August football comes with a few reminders. Preseason games do not count, but they do matter. The key is understanding what actually matters: execution, comfort, command, and whether players can translate what they have been practicing in training camp into a real game setting. So when young quarterbacks like Fernando Mendoza or Drew Allar look sharp, enjoy it. Be excited. That is always better than seeing them struggle. Just do not turn one preseason series into a Hall of Fame case. There is no real game plan. Defenses are not throwing everything at rookie quarterbacks. Coaches are not showing future opponents anything they do not have to show. Preseason football is useful, but it is not the same thing as regular-season football. Football is here. We are all happy about it. Just remember what you are watching, what it means, and what it does not. Enjoy football responsibly. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
