Live Slow Ride Fast Media

Wasn’t it Joop, that said: “The bike the bike, that all I like”. Well, not for us. We cover life on, and off the bike. This is Coasting - the live slow ride fast podcast   A series of podcasts in which we dive into the world of gravel. Into the minds of its star racers, race organisers and other experts. What is it, when people talk about the spirit of gravel? How do gravel races differ from road events? How’s the US gravel culture compared to gravel in Europe? What’s with the gear, what’s hot and whats not? This series of podcasts in English is presented by Live Slow Ride Fast. Some of them may start in Dutch as part of the introduction, but don’t let it put you down ;) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

From tarmac to gravel - Pete Stetina

Back to August 2020. Laurens and Stefan continue their journey. And as we are used to, they are not alone. Former professional cyclist Pete Stetina joins the podcast from America. Since Lau still wants to win Dirty Kanza one day (and Stefan wants to finish it), they're listening to the men and women who know all about this epic race. Stetina and Lau are in this together. From pro on the road to freebooter on gravel, but what is the biggest difference? And what is Pete missing most from the peloton? And what is it like to share a room with Bauke Mollema? You can hear it all in this Coastin’ episode.  Wasn’t it Joop, that said: “The bike the bike, that all I like”. Well, not for us. La Tetrick knows best - Alison Tetrick

Back to June 2020. Laurens and Stevie continue their journey. And they are not alone. If you want to race Kanza you have to know your game. And if you want to win Kanza you have to know it all. And even though our boys claim to know it all, they don't know shit. And whom better to ask for help than a former winner of the race. Alison Tetrick knows her Kanza. She knows what to eat, she knows what to drink and she knows her equipment. And even more important she knows how to tell it. The only thing she doesn't know is where te he finish line is. Does it matter? You'll find out in the Live Slow Ride Fast podcast... Wasn’t it Joop, that said: “The bike the bike, that all I like”. Well, not for us. Ultracycling royalty - Jack Thompson

Back to December 2019. Laurens and Stefan continue their journey. Further than they've ever been. Led by Jack Thompson - considered as the most extreme cyclist in the world - the men learn what real suffering is. No Barolo's, no hotels or massages. Even dinner was not guaranteed on this trip. Don't talk, just ride your bike until you can't continue anymore. ‘The bike, the bike, that’s all I like’ has never been more literal than this episode. And what about sleeping in a toilet? You can hear it all in this episode of our new Coastin’ feed. Wasn’t it Joop, that said: “The bike the bike, that all I like”. Well, not for us. From pro racer to pro adventurer

Back to October 2019. Laurens and Stefan continue their journey, but not as professionals. The pro cyclist Laurens ten Dam doesn’t exist anymore. At least, no longer for a team, no longer in the peloton and no longer for real. But that doesn't stop him from blasting another 600 kilometers through Italy in his last 3 days as a pro and poor Stefan had to make sure he was in his wheel. However, at the end of the rainbow there is a pot of gold in the shape of Joao. Laurens' manager/friend/counselor who welcomed the men with a good bottle of Chianti and a hot meal. For the last time as a pro, Lau looks back with Joao and Stefan on almost 16 years of professional cycling. About the ambulance where they met and about life after the race. You won't miss this episode. Wasn’t it Joop, that said: “The bike the bike, that all I like”. Well, not for us.
