If you remember, not long ago we had Sam on for the first time to chat about his journey into running. He struggled with health and weight before starting to run and has become a very competitive runner in just a few years time! On that last episode, Sam was hoping for a big PR at London Marathon and did just that. Sam ran 2:23 at London, continuing his marathon PB streak (he has PR'd in every marathon he has done so far!). After the race, he felt like he still had some life in his legs and decided to take another shot at a sub-2:20 at Copenhagen Marathon just a couple weeks later!     #300 Vincent Mauri - 2:05 Debut at Glass City Marathon + Full Training Breakdown

    Visit lisrunning.com to be coached by us! On this episode, the boys had very special guest Vincent Mauri on the podcast! Vincent shocked the running world a few weeks ago, running a solo 2:05 marathon at the Glass City Marathon in Toledo, Ohio in his debut! While this felt out of left field for most running fans, for Vincent it wasn't. He has been putting in high quality work for a long period of time and his consistency finally paid off big! One of the major topics of discussion has been Vincent's training style. He broke down a full week of training on this pod, but essentially he stacks three big days of training Sunday through Tuesday and then is doing mostly recovery (about 6:00/mi for him) the rest of the week. Another interesting tidbit on his training - he rarely uses super shoes! This was a really fun episode, Vincent was a great hang and we can't wait to see what he does next!     #297 Michael Ottesen - The Mile 24 Hamstring Cramp That Derailed the Boston Marathon

This was Michael's first World Major Marathon and he was in the elite field! It was interesting to hear about the behind the scenes of the elite field especially from the perspective of someone who has never had an experience like that! Michael had an amazing training block going into Boston - his best ever. Going into halfway he was on about 2:10 marathon pace, got over the Newton Hills well, but at Mile 24 disaster struck. The twinges in his hamstring turned into a massive cramp and forced him to fully stop for about 2 minutes. He was able to struggle to the finish line, just missing the OTQ standard by a few seconds!     #295 Drew Hunter - Winning the USA Road 5k Champs, 2028 Marathon Trials or Not?, Warmup Routine

Drew had an amazing kick to beat a very stacked field to guarantee his spot on the World Road Running Champs team later this year in Copenhagen! We recapped the race weekend but also talked about his season as a whole so far. Including his road and indoor season, he has been overall pleased and rated it a B+. It was interesting hearing his thoughts on the Millrose Games - that was the main race this year he said he made some mistakes in. There was a lot of valuable insight on this episode for all runners - including Drew's warmup routine for shorter races, his mindset in road vs track races, and making sure you enjoy the race trip as a whole instead of being entirely mentally driven by your race result.
