    Africa Has No Hospitals, Only Toned Men and Toucans (George of the Jungle)

    This week, our smart, beautiful, funny, kind, and all-around spectacular social media manager, Marissa, swings in on a vine (or maybe just sent a text) to demand our hosts watch the 1997 campy comedy George of the Jungle, and determine once and for all whether it's a Rom-Com. How could they refuse? Mads begins skeptical of this feel-good film, but boy is she living for a young, ripped Brendan Fraser who's been lubed to the gods with enough body oil to cause a fire hazard. Meanwhile, Chelsea laments that her own adventures in the jungle, while certainly fruit-full, did not include a single toucan appearance. From the film's practical effects to its breaking of the fourth wall and cheeky narration, this (romantic?) comedy is full of surprises. After Madison attempts to soft-launch a new horticulture podcast and hard-launch a war with her local stink bug population, Chelsea reveals that this movie did not, in fact, suck like she thought it would. (It was foolish to have ever doubted Emily Henry IP.) If we are honest, never did we think we would get this far in the show. It started out as (and remains) a hobby and creative venture between two friends that were blessed to meet in college and we are grateful that not only have we stuck with it, but that anyone at all decides to listen.     Pedro Pascal Could Fly a Helicopter (Materialists)

    This week, our hosts find reasonable parking rates at the intersection of love and money with Materialists (2025). Not everyone has realistic expectations when it comes to finding a good match, but Madison doesn't think it's too much to ask for a film's trailer to match its tone. Chelsea wholeheartedly believes people as rich as Pedro Pascal was in this flick should invest in some art for their cement walls, or at least an interior decorator.     Brought to you by the butts of the Town and Country security guards, Chelsea's most baffling experience of the season: Xanadu (1980). This beautifully rendered 80's roller disco fever dream skated its way into Madison's heart and melted Chelsea's brain in the process. What was the plot? What was that Ferngully-styled animated love montage? Why is Gene Kelly on skates? None of this gets answered! You'll love it, we promise. Chelsea hypothesizes that this story may be A Christmas Carol for the modern age, and although this stocking may not be stuffed with uncomplicated cheer, Madison can’t get enough of its Wham!-ful soundtrack.
