Interesting but a little disjointed

This is an interesting story about the background of the development of the atomic bomb and the individuals involved in its conception and creation. The narrative is clear but to me but the story seems a little disjointed as if the storyteller wasn’t quite sure where the focus should lie. This may be intentional but for me it doesn’t work. I am interested and like the technical aspects and the personalities of the involved scientists and other people. However, the mix with all sorts of (the author’s) psychological hang-ups and moral issues (to me) don’t mix well with the podcast. I would have liked some elaboration on the technical and organisational aspects of the final construction and dropping of the bomb, but the last episode or two seem a little rushed. Nevertheless, it is a good ‘read’.

Telling not only the widely known history but also the events that lead up to it and making it personal by following one of the key people in its creation, this is how to convince people of the severity of the dangers it brings with it. Whether it is (or something of this format could reasonably even be expected to be) enough to make people take action remains to be seen, but every bit helps. All the more with how it wouldn’t be unheard of for people in positions relevant to atomic bombs, both governmental and developmental, to listen to this.
