Black Ops 1 & 2 Ports Will Change Call of Duty Forever | The COD Casuals Ep. 283

Welcome to episode #283 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we continue the discussion regarding the continued success of the BO1 and BO2 ports, as they continue to hit record numbers of concurrent players and sales, topping GTA VI as a trending game in the PSN store. This comes as no surprise to us, but the question is how long will this last? We give our opinions on the success of these ports, and if they will rival the MW4 playerbase. If this is the case, the path for Call of Duty going forward looks much different than anticipated. Does COD lean into these ports for the future, or do they simply take the feedback from these games and apply it to future titles? We then move onto a quick overview of the season 5 roadmap, with a fan favorite map returning that we feel just came a bit too late in the year. We give our thoughts on this, along with the connection between these fan-favorite map releases and them being used in the CDL, as it could make the competition that much more exciting. We close with our COD Champs predictions, as we come down to the arguably the biggest and most prestigious event for the players to win. What are your thoughts on the continued success of these ports? Should developers be taking notes on what made these games good and apply it to their future games, or do you want more ports/remasters of old CODs? Do you want to see these older fan-favorite maps return earlier, or are you done with playing BO7 at this stage in the year? Finally, what did you think about COD Champs as an event, and the winners and losers? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week. Will MW4 Lose to Black Ops 1 & 2? | The COD Casuals Ep. 282

Welcome to episode #282 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with the news that we will finally be getting the long awaited MW4 multiplayer reveal trailer, coming on July 16th. We give our expectations on what questions we will have answered from this reveal, as well as knowing how the COD community will feel about what Infinity Ward shows us. This is coming off of a highly successful launch of the ports of Black Ops 1 and 2 for PS4 and PS5, and the question remains; will these ports end up having more players than MW4 at launch? We share our thoughts on this question, and the problem it may pose if this ends up being the reality. Along with this, we give our predictions for what the fate of these ports will end up being in the coming weeks and months. They most likely will lose their initial playerbase after the nostalgia wears off, and the focus will shift to the new title. There are many who disagree with this prediction, and that’s the question we answer today. What are you expecting from this MW4 multiplayer reveal trailer? Do you think it will live up to the hype, or will it fall flat with the fans? What do you think of the BO1 and BO2 ports? Have you been playing them, and what are your thoughts on their longevity in 2026? Will old CODs take over as the main COD, skipping MW4 entirely, or will the nostalgia wear off? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week. Gaming Is About to Change Forever… | The COD Casuals Ep. 281

Welcome to episode #281 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with news relating to GTA VI, and the shock that 1. It will be completely digital, so no physical copies will be printed, and 2. At a base price of $80, the game still has content that is locked and only accessed through purchase of the $100 version of the game. These two announcements have created lots of conversation, both good and bad, not just for Rockstar, but the future of gaming. Will we ever see COD raise its prices? And what really justifies a game to be $100? We give our thoughts on this news, as well as our reaction to Sony announcing they will stop making physical copies of games starting in 2028, making the official end of discs in gaming. Is this the correct move and path for Sony and other publishers to make, or is this going to lead to bigger issues that are already being brought up. Do we own these games, and what rights do we actually have as “renters” of these games? Finally, we close off with a discussion on the biggest Call of Duty tournament that has ever been hosted, being Major IV in Paris. We share our thoughts on the event, and what is to be expected going forward, after the bar has been raised significantly. What are your thoughts on all of the GTA VI news? Does it warrant such a high price tag, or is the paywall their way of getting around charging $100 to a game they know everyone will buy? What do you think about the end of discs in gaming? Do you still buy physical games, or do you buy strictly online? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week. Black Ops 1 & 2 Are Back… But Is That Good for COD?

Welcome to episode #280 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with a review of one of the best co-op games we’ve ever played; Split Fiction. For those interested in the game, we give a breakdown of it, predictions for the series, and discuss what makes it so great from year to year, and how COD could learn from this. We then shift to talking about Warzone and Multiplayer coexisting, and if this is really the best path forward. We give our thoughts on the idea of these being separate entities, hopefully giving more focus on each instead of trying to blend ideas into both games. We then end with talks about Black Ops 1 and 2 ports coming to PS5, making these old CODs playable on modern consoles. Though there is lots of hype surrounding this, we are skeptical about this being a good move for COD, and potentially a worrying sign. We give our reasoning, and share our thoughts on who these ports are really for.  Have you ever heard of and/or played Split Fiction? Do you have a history with co-op games, or do you mainly stick to single player and multiplayer games? What are your thoughts on multiplayer and Warzone having no connection to one another, and being treated as separate games? Finally, how excited are you for the Black Ops 1 and 2 ports? Do you see yourself playing them a lot, or are you going to be focused on Modern Warfare 4? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Gaming Setups, MW4 Leaks & The State of COD Customization | The COD Casuals Ep. 279

Welcome to episode #279 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with a discussion about gaming setups, and the different paths people take when making their setup their own, and the expense and thought that goes behind it. We give our opinions and share our experience on this. We then shift to news with MW4, confirming that we will have early access to the campaign, and a leaked screenshot of this year’s gunsmith. We give our thoughts on this year’s take on gunsmith, and lead into a conversation regarding customization in COD over the years. From camo grinds in the past to present, to the loss of interest in grinding titles and emblems, we discuss what went wrong, and what could be done to bring back those parts of COD that were a big part of the game. Finally, we end with our CDL review for the past weekend’s matches, as we draw closer to Major IV. Do you have a gaming setup you’re looking to upgrade, or are you content with your current setup? With MW4, are you planning to preorder to play the campaign early, or are you not interested in playing it early? What are your thoughts on our customization talk with COD? Is there any chance we can get back some of the customization that was a huge part of the game back in the day?  Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! DMZ IS BACK IN MODERN WARFARE 4! | The COD Casuals Ep. 278

Welcome to episode #278 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with the new DMZ reveal trailer for MW4. With DMZ being a returning mode after a couple years away, we discuss the importance of this mode, and talk about if it’s something that Call of Duty should actually focus on, or leave to another studio to develop as its own game. We then shift to BO7, and the new classic mode that has been put out with season 4. This has breathed some new life into the game, and we give our thoughts on it, and why COD doesn’t make their base game more like this temporary mode. We then shift to the Sony and Xbox game reveals, and the growing competition between both consoles. With remasters making an appearance for both studios, a potential Black Ops 1 and 2 port/remaster is rumored. We give our opinion on the success and risk of doing this, and close with talk regarding the everchanging CDL, as we are quickly approaching major 4. What did you think of the DMZ trailer? Are you going to be playing it, or is it something you will be avoiding? Have you gotten a chance to play the new classic mode in BO7? Who do you think is coming out on top for the console wars after both reveals, and what do you think of potential port/remasters of old COD titles?  Please let us know as we discuss this and much more!
