The Prosecutors PodcastOne

I have listened to the first 50 episodes within a week. This is an excellent True Crime podcast. I love that they spend multiple episodes on the cases that warrant it. Bret and Alice seem genuine, they are fun and engaging to listen to, and they clearly research the cases in intricate detail. I commend their ethics in what they choose to discuss and what they don’t. 100% recommend (even if I totally think the intro song is too long 😉, I love that they’ve stuck to their guns on it). They make me smile, even if the cases are heartbreaking at times.

I feel like I'm being talked to like I'm a little kid. They constantly use these really cheap and simple sales tactics like "I know you've been lead to believe that situation X is suspicious but when you really think about it, it isn't and I'm an experienced professional and this happens all the time."

These two cannot imagine a situation that's not relevant to them at all like everything is so black and white with them. Either you strongly believe he did it or you're in whatever camp they keep talking about. Same with religion. Either you're not religious at all or it must be the main centre on which all of your personal beliefs are based.

It's not even relevant whether Adnan did it or not. Personally, I think he probably did do it, but I don't need to be explained by them over and over why I should think that. I got excited at the start of the podcast. They had done a lot of work and I thought it would be a great and unbiased retelling of everything that happened, but instead it's just turned into a long sales pitch and it makes me glad I'm from a country that doesn't have trial by jury if this is how a jury is supposedly treated.

Hearing Americans criticise other countries for their disregard of the rule of law is perhaps nothing new, but the utter lack of critical self-reflection and awareness is bewildering. I cannot listen to another podcast made by “proud Americans” who still believe their legal system is the best in the world.
