Nor to a body. Not even to a time. They seem... as if they were already waiting. And when they meet... they don't merge. They expand. There are moments when we stop understanding where one begins... and the other ends. Not because they are the same. But because they occupy the same space.

    Há bandas que pertencem a um momento. E depois… há outras bandas que não aceitaram esse destino. Não porque fossem mais perfeitas. Ou mais bem-sucedidas. Ou mais protegidas. Mas porque continuaram. Hoje… não vamos olhar para os anos 90 como um arquivo. Não vamos abrir uma gaveta. (pausa) Vamos entrar num concerto. Vamos sentir o ar. O calor das luzes. O peso do som no corpo. (pausa) Porque há músicas que não envelhecem. Mas mais do que isso… há bandas que recusam tornar-se passado. _______ There are bands that belong to a certain moment. And then… there are other bands that didn't accept that fate. Not because they were more perfect. Or more successful. Or more protected. But because they persevered. Today… we're not going to look at the 90s as an archive. We're not going to open a drawer. (pause) We're going to go to a show. We're going to feel the air. The warmth of the lights. The weight of the sound on our bodies. (pause) Because there are songs that don't age. But more than that… there are bands that refuse to become the past.

    Há momentos no cinema em que a história ainda mal começou… e já estamos dentro dela. Não foi o diálogo que nos levou até ali. Nem a imagem. Foi uma música. Hoje seguimos essas canções. Momentos em que o cinema abriu espaço… e deixou a música ocupar o centro da cena. No outro lado do espelho, atravessamos algumas das bandas sonoras que mudaram a forma como lembramos certos filmes. Porque às vezes não recordamos apenas a imagem. Recordamos o instante exacto em que a música entrou. ______ There are moments in cinema where the story has barely begun… and we're already inside it. It wasn't the dialogue that led us there. Nor the image. It was a piece of music. Today we follow those pieces of music. Moments when cinema opened up space… and let the music take center stage. On the other side of the mirror, we traverse some of the soundtracks that changed the way we remember certain films. Because sometimes we don't just remember the image. We remember the exact moment the music entered.

    No escuro de uma taberna antiga, alguém começa a cantar. Não sabemos o nome. Não sabemos de onde veio. Apenas a voz — crua, inevitável — a abrir caminho no ar. Durante muito tempo pensou-se que esta música pertencia a Lisboa. Como as colinas. Como a luz. Como o Tejo. Mas algumas músicas escondem viagens dentro delas. Hoje atravessamos o espelho para procurar o fado antes de ele se tornar fado. Antes da saudade. Talvez o fado não tenha nascido num lugar. Talvez tenha nascido em viagem. _______ In the darkness of an old tavern, someone begins to sing. We don't know the name. We don't know where it came from. Only the voice—raw, inevitable—making its way through the air. For a long time, it was thought that this music belonged to Lisbon. Like the hills. Like the light. Like the Tagus River. But some songs hide journeys within them. Today we cross the mirror to search for fado before it becomes fado. Before saudade. Perhaps fado wasn't born in one place. Perhaps I was born on a journey.

He learned early on that the world observes even when he seems distracted. He learned that mistakes echo more than the things we get right. He learned that applause is love—but it's conditional love. Today we cross the mirror to find a king. But a king who never rested. Not from the rhythm. Not from the image. Not from the gaze of others.

A shiver. A chill that runs down our arms. An unexpected lump in the throat. We call this goosebumps. Science calls it frisson. But what is this phenomenon, really? Today, on the other side of the mirror, we're going to delve into this question. We're going to listen to music. But above all, we're going to feel it in our bodies.

    Nem sempre é a intenção que faz a música durar. Às vezes é o desvio. Um erro técnico. Uma frase ouvida por acaso. Uma voz cantada no lugar errado, à hora errada, para as pessoas erradas. Ou um silêncio que entra onde não estava previsto. A história da música está cheia destes momentos laterais — instantes em que nada parecia extraordinário… até que tudo mudou. Não porque alguém quis fazer história, mas porque o som escorregou ligeiramente da rota esperada. E, nesse deslize, encontrou verdade. _______ It's not always intention that makes music last. Sometimes it's the detour. A technical error. A phrase overheard by chance. A voice sung in the wrong place, at the wrong time, to the wrong people. Or a silence that enters where it wasn't expected. The history of music is full of these side moments—instants when nothing seemed extraordinary… until everything changed. Not because someone wanted to make history, but because the sound slipped a little from its expected path. And, in that slip, it found truth.

Não um género. Mas um gesto fundador: mulheres negras que usaram a voz para existir num mundo que insistia em apagá-las. _______ Not everything that shapes the world is visible. There are forces that act in silence, lineages that pass from body to body without ever being named. Music holds many of these hidden layers. Stories sung without archives. Knowledge transmitted without schooling. Entire lives compressed into three minutes of sound. In this episode, we cross the mirror to listen to the origin. Not a style. Not a genre. But a founding gesture: Black women who used their voices to exist in a world that insisted on erasing them.
