We Saw the Devil: Unfiltered Political Analysis

We Saw the Devil

Unapologetic. Unfiltered. Unafraid. Like NPR if NPR was an angry woman that said "f*ck it" and meant it. This is politics the way it actually happens: raw power plays, broken systems, and the daily chaos coming out of Washington and statehouses across the country. No both-sides theater. No corporate talking points. Just sharp, evidence-based breakdowns of the stories that shape your life, your wallet, and your future. If you’re exhausted by polite pundits and hungry for someone who will call the bullshit exactly what it is, subscribe and join the conversation. Hosted by Robin, We Saw the Devil cuts through the noise, propaganda, performative outrage, and both-sides nonsense to talk about what’s actually happening in American politics, power, corruption, extremism, civil rights, media failures, and the people using democracy like it’s a rental car they never planned to return. Although left-leaning, this is not a polite little politics show for people who want everything softened, centered, and served with a bipartisan garnish. We Saw the Devil is sharp, furious, researched, and allergic to pretending cruelty is just another “perspective.” Like NPR if NPR was an angry woman that said "f*ck it" and meant it. No spin. Hegseth vs. Ossoff on Iran, Plus the SAVE Act Smuggled Into the Defense Bill

Pete Hegseth told America the Iran war was a historic and overwhelming victory. Then he sat in front of the Senate and asked for 80 billion more dollars, and when Jon Ossoff asked him to repeat his own victory claims under oath, he wouldn't do it. This week the receipts came due all at once: a $37.5 billion war tab, a $95 billion reconciliation package, a $1.15 trillion defense bill passed by four votes, and drone attacks on American bases in three countries during month five of "mission accomplished." On the docket: the full breakdown of the Hegseth and Caine hearing and the war powers trick hiding inside the word "victory." The Pentagon's new mandatory testosterone screening program, captioned The High-T Department of War, because that's real. The FOIA proposal that would make the Pentagon's unclassified records permanently secret. Section 219, the US-Israel provision that cracked both parties in half and got "fixed" by deleting the word integration instead of the integration. The SAVE Act getting welded to the NDAA, the stock trading bill, and maybe the September funding deadline. What the handwritten witness statements say about the ICE killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, and the judge who had to stop ICE from deporting the eyewitness. Plus: Trump demands his E. Jean Carroll money back, 400 legislators fight the abortion pill mail ban, and Jon Ossoff is suddenly the name to know for 2028. Every claim is sourced. All links at wesawthedevil.com. Trump's Iran Quagmire, the Tate Brothers in Handcuffs, and the Great Lettuce Apology

The news got so absurd this week that we're doing a light episode, and it's still somehow about a captured government. Robin breaks down the domestic news stories you can't believe are real: the FDA apologized to Taylor Farms, a million-dollar MAGA donor, in the middle of a cyclospora outbreak that has sickened 7,000 Americans with explosive diarrhea tied to Taco Bell lettuce, while RFK Jr. ignores Jon Ossoff's letter about the gutted CDC surveillance program that should have caught it. Also this episode: Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested by US Marshals in Miami, facing 59 UK rape and human trafficking charges and doing their perp walk in tan jail jumpsuits. Trump's Iran war hits month five of a promised six weeks, with 17 American service members dead, as Rep. Carlos Gimenez calls it "the nature of warfare." Plus Trump crashing Spain's World Cup trophy celebration, the Qatari Air Force One getting "maxed out" over security problems, Kash Patel planning an FBI director trip to Moscow hosted by the FSB, 50 percent tariffs on Canadian hockey sticks, Pete Hegseth's Pentagon plan to hide unclassified records from FOIA, Megyn Kelly's 12-minute Michelle Obama rant, the racist MAGA meltdown over Lupita Nyong'o and Elliot Page in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey (which just posted the biggest opening of 2026 anyway), John Fetterman's Israel red line, Bill Maher saying yes to JD Vance, and Lindsey Graham's Senate seat passing to his sister Darline Graham Nordone like a family heirloom. This is How Trump is Going to Steal the Midterms

Donald Trump does not need to stuff a ballot box to steal the 2026 midterm elections. He needs subpoenas, search warrants, and sixty one days of manufactured doubt between Election Day on November 3 and the swearing in of the new Congress on January 3. In this episode, I walk through the entire threat model, step by step, so you can spot the con before he runs it. We start with the January seizure of 656 boxes of ballots from Fulton County, Georgia, and Trump's July 16 televised address claiming China, noncitizen voting, and compromised election systems have already tainted the midterms. Then I break down how a stolen House majority would work in practice: manufacturing a presumption of fraud before votes are cast, turning close Democratic wins into federal criminal investigations, pressuring county boards to delay election certification, and exploiting the House clerk, credentials, and the opening roll on January 3 to keep an elected majority from organizing the chamber. No conspiracy corkboard, no fan fiction. Just what has already happened, what Trump has already said, and where the real choke points in the American election system sit. In this episode: The Fulton County ballot seizure and why grabbing original election records mid-cycle mattersTrump's foreign interference claims vs. what the intelligence community found about 2020How "election interference" became a magic phrase that replaces evidenceFederal election investigations across at least eight states and DOJ voter roll demands in roughly thirtyElection certification delays as a political weaponJanuary 3, the House clerk, certificates of election, and the credentials fight nobody is ready forThe Adelita Grijalva seven-week swearing-in delay and what it proved about procedural powerWhy the 25th Amendment fantasy is bullshit, and what the real defenses areThe 2020 playbook: Raffensperger, fake electors, and the pressure campaign before January 6Hungary's 79 percent turnout election and what blowout margins can and cannot doWhat voters can do right now: registration checks, ballot curing, poll working, and evidence preservation Check your voter registration today at your state's official election website. Today's Speeches: Donald Trump, Stephen Miller & the Fascist Plan for the 2026 Midterms

***This episode is not edited as it was recorded directly after Donald Trump's speech*** Donald Trump went on primetime television to tell the country that America’s elections are compromised. A few hours earlier, Stephen Miller gave a much quieter speech at the State Department that was far more alarming. While Trump ranted about voter fraud, voting machines, China, mail ballots and election “security,” Miller laid out a federal counterterrorism strategy aimed directly at the political left. In this episode, Robin breaks down both speeches, what NSPM-7 actually does, and why the administration’s plan for the 2026 midterms goes far beyond campaign messaging. The language is already in place: disrupt, identify, defund, debank, arrest and prosecute. Trump’s address got the live blogs, cable coverage and instant fact-checks. He repeated unsupported claims about noncitizen voters, Chinese interference, stolen voter data and compromised election machines. He also announced plans to involve federal agencies in state election systems, remove people from voter rolls and investigate officials tied to the alleged fraud. But while everyone was watching Trump, Stephen Miller was explaining what comes next. Speaking to foreign security officials at a State Department ministerial, Miller described the political left as a terrorism threat and defended NSPM-7, a national security directive that gives federal agencies a broad mandate to target organizations, activists and financial networks. And the scope does not stop with people accused of violence. It can reach donors, organizers, lawyers, bail funds, nonprofits and anyone the administration decides is supporting the wrong movement. The speech also went somewhere even darker. Miller attacked civil liberties, complained about juries refusing to convict people accused of assaulting ICE agents, and told the room that leftists do not look “normal” because their appearance reflects what is supposedly inside them. That language is not random. Robin traces its historical roots and explains why authoritarian movements so often describe political opponents as diseased, deformed, dangerous or visibly different. Once the enemy is defined by who they are instead of what they have done, there is no way to behave your way out of the category. Trump provides the spectacle. Miller provides the machinery and framework for what's to come.  Together, the two speeches point toward a broader strategy for the 2026 midterms: • Destroy confidence in election results before voting begins • Push federal agencies deeper into state election systems • Purge voter rolls in the name of election security • Threaten media outlets that refuse to cooperate • Treat protest networks and organizers as terrorism infrastructure • Intimidate donors, lawyers, nonprofits and bail funds • Use financial pressure and debanking without waiting for criminal convictions • Export the framework through international intelligence sharing This episode separates what the administration has actually done from what it has merely claimed. The franework is real. The evidence being used to justify it often is not. Trump’s speech was the distraction. Stephen Miller’s speech was the blueprint. The loud speech told America what to fear. The quiet speech explained what the government plans to do about it. Topics include Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, NSPM-7, the 2026 midterm elections, voter purges, election security, left-wing terrorism, debanking, civil liberties, ICE protests, jury trials, political repression, authoritarianism, fascism, voter fraud claims, media license threats and federal intervention in state elections. Lindsey Graham Dead, Trump Threatens Iran, McConnell Missing: One Hell of a Weekend

Lindsey Graham died Saturday night. He was 71. His office says a brief and sudden illness. The 911 dispatch audio says chest pains, a locked door, and CPR in progress. So this week I'm doing the obituary nobody on cable will touch: his real record on Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Iran, Gaza, the Confederate flag, Stand Your Ground, and voting rights. Plus the Laura Loomer poisoning conspiracy theories, Nancy Mace already eyeing his Senate seat, and how South Carolina's August 11 special primary works. And Mitch McConnell still hasn't been seen in almost a month. No photos, no diagnosis, just a copy-pasted statement and a bunch of senators swearing they talked to him on the phone. I get into the June 14 cardiac arrest dispatch audio, the CNN stretcher video, and the Kentucky special election law the GOP really doesn't want triggered. Graham's death got confirmed in hours. McConnell's health is a state secret. Same party. Ask yourself why. Also in this one: Trump posts that 1,000 missiles are locked and loaded to hit Iran if anyone assassinates him, which is not a real thing, because if he dies JD Vance is president and the missiles are his. The DOJ subpoenas four New York Times reporters over the Air Force One story. The $400 million Qatari jet still can't stop a missile. Trump fires the Democrats on the Election Assistance Commission right before the midterms, and his own former lawyer Ty Cobb calls it a deliberate plan.  Also, I brought the Gaza death toll numbers for everyone who keeps sliding into my replies with "what about Israel." ------------------------ Keywords:  Lindsey Graham dead, Lindsey Graham death, Lindsey Graham dies at 71, Lindsey Graham cause of death, Lindsey Graham 911 call, Lindsey Graham cardiac arrest, Lindsey Graham heart attack, was Lindsey Graham poisoned, Lindsey Graham conspiracy, Lindsey Graham replacement, South Carolina Senate special election, Nancy Mace Senate, Henry McMaster appointment, Annie Andrews, Mitch McConnell health, Mitch McConnell cover-up, is Mitch McConnell alive, McConnell cardiac arrest, Kentucky special election, Andy Beshear, Tim Burchett, Trump Iran war, Trump 1000 missiles, Trump Truth Social Iran, Khamenei funeral, Ayatollah Khamenei death, JD Vance president, dead man's switch, 25th Amendment, Strait of Hormuz closed, Iran ceasefire, Trump assassination plot, New York Times subpoena, press freedom, Fox News, Qatari jet Air Force One, Election Assistance Commission, Ty Cobb Trump warning, Trump health, Trump physical Walter Reed, White House ballroom cost, East Wing demolition, Gaza death toll, Max Planck Gaza study, Gaza genocide, Israel Hamas war casualties, political podcast, political comedy podcast, We Saw the Devil podcast Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/we-saw-the-devil-unfiltered-political-analysis--4433638/support. Graham Platner: The Rape Allegation, the Six Day Deadline, and the Maine Senate Meltdown

Graham Platner was beating Susan Collins in the Maine Senate race. Then Jenny Racicot went on the record with Politico and CNN alleging he raped her in 2021, backed by therapist emails, texts, and disclosures that predate his campaign by years. Within 24 hours, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Ro Khanna, Chuck Schumer, and the Maine Democratic Party all told him to get out. He denies everything. And he has until July 13 to decide. Robin breaks down the whole ugly thing: what Racicot alleges happened that night and why the paper trail put it over the edge for a certified skeptic. The baggage that was already there, from the Totenkopf tattoo to the Reddit posts to the Blackwater successor company nobody talks about correctly. Why smear campaigns are real AND why this isn't one. Stephen King's terrible take. Why establishment Democrats are not the heroes here, and why the progressive left, from DSA to Bernie world, has a vetting crisis it can no longer afford. Plus the six day ballot deadline, the replacement scramble (Troy Jackson, Nirav Shah, Shenna Bellows), and what has to happen for Democrats to keep this seat competitive against Susan Collins. Smears are real. So is rape. Both things can be true, and nobody in American politics seems to be able to hold two thoughts at once.
