Det voksne barnet: Sandra Lillebø og Maria Navarro Skaranger

Med den kritikerroste romanen Tingenes tilstand, om forholdet til en psykisk syk mor, fikk Sandra Lillebø sitt gjennombrudd som forfatter. Hun har markert seg som en særlig skarp skildrer av klasse og omsorgssvikt i norsk samtidslitteratur. Hennes tredje roman Vera er på overflaten en enkel og sår beretning om en ensom tenåringsjente som får en hest: det nydelige, altfor unge, føllet Vera. Omsorgen for dyret skal kompensere for omsorgen jenta ikke får selv, hverken fra venner eller foreldrene. Med føllet på slep vandrer jenta rundt i den vesle jordbruksbygda familien nylig har flyttet til, og drømmer om den dagen hesten blir stor nok til å ri. Samtidig utforsker romanen følelsen av å ha levd flere liv, og hva som skal til for å sette dem sammen. «For den som mangler fantasi eller ikke evner å lyve, er livet bare en samling anekdoter,» reflekterer den voksne fortelleren. Gjennom gjensynet med ungdomskjæresten får hun tilgang til en versjon av seg selv hun nesten hadde glemt, en som fortsatt lever i den gamle kjærestens blikk. Med nerve, sosiologisk innsikt og språklig briljans har Sandra Lillebø siden debuten i 2011 utforsket tematikker som ensomhet, fattigdom og forholdet mellom barn og psykisk syke foreldre. Hun er også journalist og kritiker, og var med på gjøre bøkene til Nobelprisvinner Annie Ernaux kjent i Norge. En annen som skildrer utenforskap på lekent og sofistikert vis er forfatter Maria Navarro Skaranger. Hun har fulgt Sandra Lillebøs forfatterskap og møtte henne på Litteraturhuset til samtale om klasse, omsorg og familie, og å gi form til et fragmentert liv. Hosted on Acast. Andrej Kurkov: Ukraina — minner for framtiden

Wergelandforelesningen 2026 Andrej Kurkov er en av Ukrainas fremste kulturelle og litterære ambassadører. Med titler som Døden og pingvinen og Grå bier har han fått lesere verden over. Men da Russlands fullskalainvasjon av Ukraina startet, klarte han ikke å skrive fiksjon. I stedet har han reist på kryss og tvers for å fortelle om krigens realitet og brutalitet, og skrevet essays og dagbok fra livet med krig. I 2022 kom Dagbok frå ein invasjon (til norsk ved Lasse Takle). Flere av tekstene her har tidligere vært trykket i Dag og tid, hvor Kurkov har vært fast spaltist siden krigen brøt ut. Kurkov vokste opp i Sovjet-tiden, og oppdaget forfattere som George Orwell og Aleksandr Solzjenitsyn gjennom ulovlige kopier. Han har fått erfare hva manglende ytringsfrihet innebærer, så vel som betydningen av språk og kultur i å bygge opp en nasjonal identitet. Selv skriver han på russisk, ukrainsk og engelsk. Ukraina som selvstendig nasjon, med egen kultur og eget språk er noe av det Putin vil til livs. Hvordan misbruker Putin historie og kultur i sitt narrativ om invasjonskrigen? Og hvordan har krigen ironisk nok styrket både Ukrainas og resten av verdens oppfatning av ukrainsk språk og kultur? Wergeland-forelesningen er en årlig begivenhet.
