A. Castigo positivoB. Castigo negativoC. Reforzamiento positivoD. Extinción 🎯 Respuesta: C — Reforzamiento positivo ¿Por qué? Pedir ayuda → ayuda AÑADIDA → pedir ayuda aumenta.

No modifica intencionalmente ninguna variable. ¿Qué procedimiento está realizando? A. Análisis funcionalB. 🎙️ C.1 — Implement Positive and Negative Reinforcement Procedures | RBT 3rd Edition

Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. We begin Section C: Behavior Acquisition with: 🎯 C.1. Implement positive and negative reinforcement procedures (e.g., immediately, contingently, according to schedules of reinforcement) along a continuum of dimensions (e.g., magnitude, intensity, variety). Let’s start with the MOST important rule: 🧠 REINFORCEMENT = BEHAVIOR INCREASES IN THE FUTURE. If the behavior does not increase, you cannot conclude that reinforcement occurred. ➕ POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT Something is ADDED following a behavior, and that behavior increases in the future. Example: A learner appropriately requests a break → receives praise and 5 minutes with a preferred activity → appropriate requesting increases. Behavior → Something ADDED → Behavior increases 🔑 Positive = ADD Positive does NOT mean “good.” ➖ NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT Something is REMOVED, REDUCED, or POSTPONED following a behavior, and that behavior increases in the future. Example: A learner appropriately requests a break → a difficult task is temporarily removed → appropriate break requests increase. Behavior → Something AVERSIVE removed → Behavior increases 🔑 Negative = REMOVE 🚨 EXAM TRAP: Negative reinforcement is NOT punishment. Both positive and negative reinforcement INCREASE behavior. 🚨 THREE DETAILS MATTER 1️⃣ Immediately When appropriate to the procedure, reinforcement should occur promptly after the target behavior so the contingency is clear. Long delays may accidentally strengthen another behavior. 2️⃣ Contingently The reinforcer is delivered because the target behavior occurred, according to the treatment protocol. Think: 👉 If behavior X occurs → consequence Y follows. 3️⃣ According to the Schedule Reinforcement may not always occur after every response. The RBT must implement the assigned schedule of reinforcement accurately. Examples include: ✔️ Continuous reinforcement✔️ Fixed Ratio✔️ Variable Ratio✔️ Fixed Interval✔️ Variable Interval 🚨 The RBT follows the established schedule rather than changing it independently. 🎚️ REINFORCEMENT EXISTS ALONG DIMENSIONS Reinforcement can vary in: Magnitude: How much? One minute with a preferred activity vs. ten minutes. Intensity: How strong? A quiet “good job” versus more enthusiastic praise, when appropriate for the learner. Variety: How many different effective options? Praise, activities, games, attention, tokens, or other identified reinforcers. The appropriate dimension depends on the individual and the established intervention. 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE Every time a learner independently asks for help, the RBT immediately provides assistance. Over time, independent help requests increase. What occurred? A. Positive punishmentB. Negative punishmentC. Positive reinforcementD. Extinction 🎯 Answer: C — Positive Reinforcement Why? Help request → assistance ADDED → help requesting increases. 💎 BEHAVIORAL INTELLIGENCE TAKEAWAY For the exam, ask TWO questions: 1. Did behavior increase? YES → Think REINFORCEMENT. 2. What happened to the stimulus? ➕ Added → Positive Reinforcement ➖ Removed → Negative Reinforcement Then check implementation: ⏱️ Immediately🎯 Contingently📊 According to the schedule🎚️ Correct magnitude, intensity, and variety 🚨 Never forget: Positive ≠ good. Negative ≠ bad. In ABA: Positive = ADDNegative = REMOVEReinforcement = INCREASE behavior 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we master the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter. 🎙️ B.3 — Participate in Components of Functional Assessment Procedures | RBT 3rd Edition

Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. We continue Section B: Assessment with: 🎯 B.3. Participate in components of functional assessment procedures (e.g., descriptive assessment, functional analysis). The goal of a functional assessment is to gather information that helps identify the variables related to why a behavior occurs and continues. For the RBT exam, you need to recognize an important distinction: 🚨 OBSERVING relationships vs. TESTING relationships. 🧠 1️⃣ DESCRIPTIVE ASSESSMENT In a descriptive assessment, behavior is observed in the natural environment without systematically manipulating variables. A common method is ABC data: A — Antecedent: What happened immediately before the behavior? B — Behavior: What observable and measurable behavior occurred? C — Consequence: What happened immediately after the behavior? Example: Teacher presents math worksheet → learner pushes worksheet away → teacher removes worksheet. You might observe a pattern suggesting that task removal is associated with the behavior. But be careful! 🚨 EXAM TRAP: Correlation ≠ Function Descriptive assessment can identify patterns and correlations, but it does not experimentally demonstrate a functional relationship. 🔑 Exam clue: Observe behavior naturally + no systematic manipulation = Descriptive Assessment 🧪 2️⃣ FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS A functional analysis (FA) involves the systematic manipulation of environmental variables to test their effects on behavior. Different conditions may be arranged to evaluate potential behavioral functions. Common possibilities include: ✔️ Attention✔️ Escape✔️ Access to tangibles✔️ Automatic reinforcement The critical difference? 👉 Variables are manipulated systematically. 🔑 Exam clue: Experimental manipulation of antecedents and/or consequences = Functional Analysis Because an FA deliberately manipulates environmental variables, it must be conducted according to the established protocol with appropriate supervision and safeguards. 🚨 RBT ROLE: PARTICIPATE The RBT may participate in components of functional assessment procedures under appropriate supervision. Depending on the protocol, the RBT may: ✔️ Collect ABC data✔️ Observe and record behavior✔️ Implement assigned assessment components✔️ Measure behavior accurately✔️ Follow established FA conditions as directed✔️ Report data objectively The RBT does NOT independently: ❌ Determine behavioral function❌ Design a functional analysis❌ Change experimental conditions❌ Make clinical conclusions outside their role 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE An RBT observes a learner during regular classroom activities and records what happens immediately before and after episodes of aggression. No environmental variables are intentionally changed. What procedure is this? A. Functional analysisB. Preference assessmentC. Descriptive assessmentD. Reinforcer assessment 🎯 Answer: C — Descriptive Assessment Why? Natural environment + observation + no systematic manipulation = DESCRIPTIVE. Now change one detail: The supervisor systematically arranges different conditions to test whether aggression changes when attention, escape, or other consequences are provided. 🎯 Think FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS. 💎 BEHAVIORAL INTELLIGENCE TAKEAWAY Memorize this distinction: DESCRIPTIVE = OBSERVE FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS = MANIPULATE & TEST And remember: 🚨 Seeing an ABC pattern does not automatically prove the function of behavior. 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we master the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter.

🎙️ B.2 — Participate in Assessments of Relevant Skill Strengths and Deficits | RBT 3rd Edition

Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. Today we continue Section B: Assessment with: 🎯 B.2. Participate in assessments of relevant skill strengths and deficits (e.g., curriculum-based, developmental, social skills). The key word is PARTICIPATE. As an RBT, you may participate in assessments designed to identify what a client can already do and which skills may require additional teaching. Think: 💪 Strength = skill demonstrated 🎯 Deficit = skill not yet demonstrated at the expected level or under relevant conditions The goal is not to guess. It is to systematically assess and collect objective data. 🧠 THREE TYPES TO RECOGNIZE 1️⃣ Curriculum-Based Assessment Evaluates skills within a specific curriculum or instructional sequence. Examples may include: ✔️ Matching✔️ Following instructions✔️ Academic skills✔️ Communication targets✔️ Daily living skills 🔑 Exam clue: Performance within a curriculum or teaching sequence → Curriculum-Based 2️⃣ Developmental Assessment Examines skills across developmental domains or milestones. These may include: ✔️ Communication✔️ Motor skills✔️ Adaptive skills✔️ Social development✔️ Learning-related skills 🔑 Exam clue: Milestones or developmental skill areas → Developmental Assessment 3️⃣ Social Skills Assessment Examines skills involved in interacting with other people. Examples: ✔️ Initiating interactions✔️ Responding to peers✔️ Turn-taking✔️ Sharing✔️ Maintaining conversations✔️ Participating in groups 🔑 Exam clue: Peer interaction or social behavior → Social Skills Assessment 🚨 EXAM TRAP: PARTICIPATE ≠ INTERPRET An RBT participates in the assessment according to the established protocol. The RBT may: ✔️ Prepare materials✔️ Present tasks as instructed✔️ Observe behavior✔️ Record responses objectively✔️ Collect accurate data✔️ Report results to the supervisor But the RBT does NOT independently: ❌ Diagnose❌ Select an assessment tool❌ Interpret results clinically❌ Create treatment recommendations❌ Modify assessment procedures without authorization 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE An RBT is asked to assess whether a learner can initiate conversations, respond to peers, take turns, and participate appropriately in group activities. What type of assessment is MOST likely being conducted? A. Preference assessmentB. Social skills assessmentC. Functional analysisD. Reinforcer assessment 🎯 Answer: B — Social Skills Assessment The pattern: Initiating + responding + turn-taking + peers = SOCIAL SKILLS. 💎 BEHAVIORAL INTELLIGENCE TAKEAWAY For B.2, remember: Curriculum → What skills can the learner demonstrate within the instructional sequence? Developmental → What developmental skills or milestones are demonstrated? Social Skills → How does the learner interact with others? And most importantly: 🚨 The RBT participates, collects data, and reports objectively. The RBT does not independently interpret assessment results or make clinical decisions outside their scope. 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we master the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter.

No adivinamos. Evaluamos. A. Paired StimulusB. Free OperantC. MSWOD. 🎙️ B.1 — Conduct Preference Assessments | RBT 3rd Edition

Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. We’re entering Section B: Assessment of the RBT 3rd Edition Test Content Outline. 🎯 B.1. Conduct preference assessments (e.g., multiple stimulus, paired stimulus, free operant). How do we know what a client actually prefers? We don’t guess. We assess. A preference assessment is a systematic procedure used to identify items, activities, or stimuli an individual may prefer. These results can help identify potential reinforcers. 🚨 EXAM TRAP #1: Preference ≠ Reinforcement A preferred item is something the individual selects, approaches, or engages with. A reinforcer is defined by its effect on behavior: it increases the future probability of the behavior it follows. Something can be preferred without functioning as a reinforcer. 🧠 KNOW THESE PROCEDURES 1️⃣ Multiple Stimulus Several items are presented at the same time. MSW — With Replacement:The selected item returns to the array. MSWO — Without Replacement:The selected item is removed after selection. 🔑 Exam clue: Several items + selected item removed = MSWO. 2️⃣ Paired Stimulus Two items are presented at a time. The learner chooses one, and different pairs are systematically presented across trials. Selections are recorded to establish a preference hierarchy. 🔑 Exam clue: Two items at a time + repeated combinations = Paired Stimulus. 🚨 Don’t confuse this with casually offering two choices. A preference assessment follows a systematic procedure and includes data collection. 3️⃣ Free Operant Several items or activities are available, and the learner can interact with them relatively freely. The RBT may measure how long or how often the learner interacts with each option. 🔑 Exam clue: Free access + observation of engagement = Free Operant. 💎 RBT ROLE The RBT follows the assessment procedure established by the supervisor. The RBT may: ✔️ Arrange stimuli✔️ Present choices according to protocol✔️ Record selections or engagement✔️ Remain neutral and avoid influencing choices✔️ Report data accurately The RBT does not independently redesign the assessment or make clinical decisions outside their role. 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE An RBT presents a tablet, bubbles, puzzle, and toy car. The learner selects the tablet. The RBT removes it, rearranges the remaining items, and presents them again. Which assessment? A. Paired stimulusB. Free operantC. MSWOD. MSW 🎯 Answer: C — MSWO Why? Multiple items → choice → selected item removed. 🧠 REMEMBER THE PATTERN 2 at a time → Paired StimulusSeveral together → Multiple StimulusChoice removed → MSWOChoice returns → MSWFree access + engagement → Free Operant And the BIG exam trap: ⚠️ Preferred does not automatically mean reinforcing. 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we work through the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter.
