    We are Barabbas

🎙️ We Are Barabbas Three men.One cross.Three responses to Jesus. In this solo episode, Summer walks through the powerful contrast between Barabbas, Judas, and Simon of Cyrene — the guilty man set free, the disciple who betrayed, and the stranger who carried the cross. Barabbas was a criminal. A murderer. An insurrectionist. Rome had already written his death sentence. Yet the crowd chose to release him — and Jesus took his place. Judas walked closely with Jesus, witnessed miracles, and still chose silver over surrender. His story ended in despair, not because mercy wasn’t available, but because he refused to return to it. Simon of Cyrene was pulled from the crowd and forced to carry Jesus’ cross. What began as an inconvenience became a moment that changed his family’s legacy. His sons are later named in Scripture, hinting at generational faithfulness. But here’s the tension: We don’t know how Barabbas’ story ends. And maybe that’s the point. In prayer, the Holy Spirit revealed something striking — if Scripture told us the ending of Barabbas’ life, it would reveal the fate of every sinner. But the story is left open… because ours is too. We are Barabbas. We are the guilty ones set free. The question is what we choose next. Will we drift into betrayal? Will we surrender and serve?Or will we walk away unchanged? This episode invites you to wrestle with the weight of the exchange that happened at the cross — and to consider what your response will be to the freedom you’ve been given. Transaction to Trust

🎙 From Transaction to Trust Summer (Solo Episode) What if we’ve misunderstood prayer? Not intentionally. Not rebelliously.Just subtly. Somewhere along the way, prayer can drift from relationship into negotiation.“God, if You fix this…”“God, if You prove Yourself…”“God, if You change this situation…” But at the cross, we see two very different responses to suffering. While Rome was executing criminals in one of the most brutal forms of death imaginable, two men hung beside Jesus. One mocked. One asked for mercy. One demanded proof. One surrendered. In this episode, Summer walks through: The raw reality of crucifixion and why the setting matters (Luke 23:39–40) The difference between anger that demands and humility that trusts How the religious leaders echoed the same transactional mindset (Matthew 27:41) Jesus’ own prayer in the garden — asking three times for the cup to pass (Matthew 26, Luke 22:42) What John 17 reveals about the heart of true communion with the Father Why “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) is about connection, not constant talking How Hebrews 4:16 reminds us that Jesus understands our weakness because He became human Even Jesus experienced a “no.” Prayer did not remove the cross. It aligned Him with the Father’s will. Prayer is not about controlling outcomes. It is about trusting the One who already understands. This episode is an invitation to examine: Are we praying to get something? Or are we praying to know Him? Do we want His hand — or His heart? Because prayer was never meant to be a contract. It was meant to be relationship. Scriptures Referenced: Luke 23:39–40 Matthew 27:41 Luke 22:42 Matthew 26 John 17 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Hebrews 4:16 If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone who may need the reminder that God is not asking for a bargain — He’s inviting us into trust. Summer will be back next week as we continue walking through what it means to follow Jesus in real, everyday life.

    Prayer That Stands

🎙 Prayer That Stands There is a difference between praying… and standing. In this solo episode, Summer unpacks the biblical distinction between prayer and intercession — and why it matters for every believer. Prayer is communion with God. Intercession is intervention on behalf of others. Through Scripture, we see that God has always looked for someone willing to stand in the gap. “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap…” — Ezekiel 22:30 We explore how: 1 Timothy 2:1 shows prayer and intercession are distinct and intentional. Romans 8:34 reminds us that Jesus Himself is interceding for us. Matthew 5:44 calls us to pray even for those who hurt us. Acts of the Apostles 16:25–28 shows how midnight prayer and worship shook foundations and broke chains. James 5:16–18 shows that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Scripture may not use the phrase “change the atmosphere,” but it clearly shows that when God’s people pray, environments shift, peace replaces panic, darkness lifts, and even physical foundations can shake. Summer also shares a powerful personal story from a 24-hour prayer gathering in Tennessee — where three people experienced the same spiritual moment at midnight without knowing it until the next morning. A reminder that prayer does not operate only in the visible realm. As Tiffany takes a short step back, this episode becomes more than a teaching — it becomes an invitation. When one rests, others stand. Intercession means covering one another in strength, peace, protection, and unity. We are not called to spectate. We are called to stand. You may never see the earthquake. But chains are still falling. If this episode encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded: Your prayers matter. Your obedience matters. Your standing matters.

Refined Together: Why Community Isn't Optional

In our last episode, Summer walked us through what it means to be refined — not rejected. We looked at the lives of Job and Simon Peter and how seasons of testing weren’t punishment, but preparation. Repentance wasn’t shame — it was alignment. Refinement wasn’t abandonment — it was invitation. This week, we’re living that message in real time. We took a brief pause after an unexpected medical complication turned what should have been a simple outpatient procedure into a hospital admission. Between health diagnoses, work pressures we can’t publicly discuss, financial strain, and a year that has started heavier than expected, this has been what we referred to as a “Job season.” And here’s the truth: we would not have made it through without community. In this episode, we talk about: • Why community is not optional for believers• How God Himself exists in perfect relationship within the Trinity• Why the only thing God called “not good” in creation was isolation• How the early Church in Acts survived persecution by living in radical, shared community• What it means not only to be served by your community, but to serve within it• How humility, vulnerability, and interdependence reflect the heart of Christ Community is not a personality trait. It’s not an accessory to faith. It’s not just for extroverts. It is God’s design. The early followers of The Way didn’t just believe the gospel — they built their lives around it together. They shared resources. They financed one another. They endured persecution shoulder to shoulder. They worshiped, worked, wept, and rejoiced side by side. That wasn’t convenience. That was conviction. If God declared it “not good” for man to be alone, why do we sometimes treat isolation like spiritual maturity? In seasons of refinement, community doesn’t remove the fire — but it keeps you from burning alone. If you’re walking through a heavy season right now, this episode is for you. If you’re in a season of strength, this episode is also for you — because someone in your circle may need your steadiness. We are refined in the fire. But we are carried through it together. — 📖 Scripture References:• Genesis 2:18• Job 1–42• Luke 22:31–32• Acts 2:42–47 — If this episode encouraged you, share it with someone who may be walking through their own refining season. And as always, thank you for being part of this community with us.

    Refined, Not Rejected

What if the season that feels like loss… is actually refinement? In this episode of Different, we sit with the harder books of the Bible—the ones that don’t rush pain or silence questions. Through the stories of Job, Lamentations, and Ecclesiastes, we explore what it means to be tested, sifted, and stripped of easy answers—without being abandoned by God. Scripture shows us that Job was tested only by permission, not punishment.Peter was sifted, but never forsaken—Jesus prayed for him and promised restoration when he returned.Lamentations teaches us that grief and repentance can coexist.Ecclesiastes dares to ask the question we’re all thinking: What does all of this mean? This episode is for the one who feels tired, confused, or shaken in their faith. For the one wrestling with repentance, rest, and surrender. For the one wondering if the silence means rejection. It doesn’t. Jesus is still interceding.Repentance is still an invitation. And refinement is not rejection—it’s proof that God is still at work. Why being tested doesn’t mean you’ve been abandoned How God allows refinement with boundaries and purpose The holiness of lament and honest questioning Repentance as restoration, not shame Choosing Sabbath and stillness in seasons of sifting Finding hope in Jesus when answers feel out of reach Job 1–2 Luke 22:31–32 Lamentations 3 Ecclesiastes 1–3 You are not rejected. You are being refined. And when you return—you will not come back empty. ✨ In This Episode, We Talk About: Why being tested doesn’t mean you’ve been abandoned How God allows refinement with boundaries and purpose The holiness of lament and honest questioning Repentance as restoration, not shame Choosing Sabbath and stillness in seasons of sifting Finding hope in Jesus when answers feel out of reach 📜 Key Scriptures Referenced: Job 1–2 Luke 22:31–32 Lamentations 3 Ecclesiastes 1–3 🤍 Takeaway You are not rejected. You are being refined. And when you return—you will not come back empty.

    Rest & Relationship

In Part 2 of our New Year series, we slow things down even more—because some truths can’t be rushed. This episode centers on two deeply personal conversations: Summer’s Sabbath season, and Tiffany’s wrestle with grace, works, and what it really means to live in relationship with God. What it actually looked like to step away—not just from the podcast, but from striving The discomfort of slowing down when productivity feels like obedience What God revealed in the quiet that couldn’t be heard in the noise What Sabbath stripped away—and what it gently restored How rest isn’t quitting… it’s trusting Summer shares honestly about what happens when you stop doing for God long enough to just be with Him—and why some of the most important growth happens when nothing looks impressive from the outside. The tension between faith and works Why believing Jesus died for humanity is easier than believing He died for you The fear of “messing it all up” and bringing dishonor to God The realization that grace doesn’t require repayment Shifting from “What can I do for God?” to “What has God already done for me?” Tiffany shares her word(s) for the year—community and relationship—and why the focus begins vertically, not outwardly. This conversation explores how striving can quietly replace intimacy, and how doing all the “right” things can still leave us lonely if we aren’t actually walking with God. We talk about: Neglecting relationship in favor of religious effort Why obedience without intimacy becomes exhausting How Jesus describes Himself as gentle and humble—and why that matters Learning to receive God’s love as a gift, not a wage This episode is for anyone who: Loves God but feels tired Has confused holiness with hustle Is craving rest but afraid to stop Knows the truth of the gospel—but struggles to let it sink all the way in You don’t have to earn what’s already been given. You don’t have to perform to be loved. And you don’t have to rush into the new year without first letting God tend to your heart. 🎧 Part 3 will continue the conversation as we step into the biblical importance of community—and why we were never meant to walk this faith alone. In this episode, we talk about:✨ Summer’s Sabbath✨ Tiffany’s New Year Focus

    SIMPLY CHRISTMAS: The Greatest Gift

✨ EPISODE 4 — Simply Christmas: The Greatest Gift A Different Podcast December Series Finale We’re wrapping up the Simply Christmas series with the heartbeat behind it all — the reminder that Christmas isn’t powerful because of what we give, but because of what He gave. This episode is the warm mug at the end of the month, the deep breath your soul has been needing, and the grounding truth that centers everything else. Tiffany closes out the series by walking us through: A reading of Luke 2:6–20 — the night everything changed Why the world naturally becomes more generous around Christmas (even when they don’t realize why) How the first gifts from the Magi pointed to Jesus’ identity Why our modern generosity is a faint echo of God’s much greater one The beauty of the gospel wrapped inside the Christmas story How Jesus is the gift that doesn’t fade, break, or get returned for store credit This is the episode that brings the season back to its foundation:Not presents. Not pressure. Not performance.Presence — His presence. Luke 2:6–20 — The birth of Jesus and the announcement to the shepherds John 10:10 — “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Isaiah 9:6 — “For unto us a Child is born…” Galatians 4:4–7 — Adoption, identity, and becoming children of God Christmas generosity is beautiful — but it’s only a shadow of God’s generosity toward us. The first Christmas gifts were offerings of worship, not obligation. Jesus didn’t come to create a holiday; He came to bring us home. True joy in this season comes from receiving the gift of Christ, not perfecting the magic of Christmas. Our hearts find rest when we remember that we are loved, pursued, and adopted by the King born in Bethlehem. Before you wrap another gift or swipe another card, pause long enough to remember the gift already given to you:A Savior.A Redeemer.A King who stepped into the world small and humble so He could lift you into His family forever. That’s the gift that changes everything — your past, your present, your eternity. A new year. A new season. And Summer’s return from her December Sabbath (we love a rested queen).
