Inside Aesthetics (IA) was first conceived by Dr Jake Sloane in 2019. Fed up with the hype and misinformation on social media about their industry, he invited his good friend David Segal to be his co-host on a new podcast. They started recording to showcase expert guest insights and to share their experiences. Each episode of IA explores aesthetic topics, injectable-related content and insider business knowledge.
With a bit of tinkering over the last five and a half years, IA has become the world's most listened to aesthetics podcast with over 1.7 million listens in over 100 countries. Our weekly episodes have become a vital source of information for injectors and our industry globally to connect and learn together.

Pene Timberlake - 'What makes a good injector & has the bar been set too low?' #251
Episode 251 hosts Pene Timberlake, a Nurse Practioner from Freshwater, Australia. Pene was one of our very first guests on IA (Episodes 3, 26 and 43) and is one of the country's most experienced nurse injectors.
We first learn about her progression from being a Registered Nurse to a Nurse Practitioner (NP). We get an understanding about what this qualification entails and why this was so challenging. We also learn about why the door for nurses wanting to become aesthetic NP's is now effectively closed.
In her first appearance on the podcast over five years ago, we re-visit the question of what makes a good cosmetic injector. With the landscape and regulations having changed so much in Australia, we explore the deeper issue of whether the bar has simply been set too low to become an injector? We ponder whether the changes that have been made were actually very necessary and what else needs to be done to create a recognised 'injecting' speciality.
