Somolian and Federal Fraud are Worse Than You Think | Federal Tax Fraud and the Scapegoat of Race

Somali daycare fraud is just the tip of the iceberg. In this episode, we break down the latest updates on Minnesota fraud, including the shocking scale of federal fraud across multiple programs and why the numbers should alarm every American taxpayer. We discuss how billions of dollars have been misused through weak oversight, how accountability repeatedly gets delayed, and why certain narratives have been used to shut down scrutiny until it’s far too late. We also cover the political fallout, including Tim Walz stepping away from reelection, and what that signals amid growing investigations and public pressure. From pandemic-era programs to Medicaid and nonprofit abuse, this conversation exposes a pattern of protection, silence, and selective enforcement that cannot be ignored. This isn’t about race baiting or partisan spin—it’s about facts, numbers, and responsibility. When oversight disappears, corruption thrives. And when taxpayers stop asking questions, the bill comes due. Working together: Partnerships for Impact

In development, big wins come from working together — building trust, sharing expertise, and bringing the right partners to the table. In this episode of The Development Podcast, we explore why partnerships matter — from the teamwork and great duos we see in sport, to the coalitions needed to deliver results at scale. We look at potential from a partnership with Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) — a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and an 1890 land-grant institution with a long tradition of practical, community-focused problem-solving — and how AAMU’s expertise can connect to global development priorities, including Mission 300 and AgriConnect. Join us as we hear from: Ambassador Roya Rahmani, Director, Global Engagement, World Bank Group; Dr. Daniel K. Wims, President, Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University; Ajay Banga, President, World Bank Group; and S.L. Price, sports journalist and author of The American Game: History and Hope in the Country of Lacrosse. Knowledge in the Age of Disinformation and AI

What does knowledge mean in an age of AI, deepfakes, and disinformation? When information is everywhere, the real challenge is distinguishing insight from noise. In this episode of the Development Podcast, host Toni Karasanyi explores how knowledge is evolving in a world where machines can generate convincing arguments and personalized realities shape how we consume information. Tech journalist Jamie Bartlett, author of How to Talk to AI (And How Not To), explains how individuals can use AI tools without being misled — and why critical thinking matters more than ever. Paschal Donohoe, the World Bank Group’s Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer, discusses how the Bank is turning more than 80 years of global development experience into practical knowledge that helps countries tackle challenges, including creating jobs and scale solutions in a fast-changing world. Black Women Do Not Belong to the Left | The Democrat Plantation, Nicki Minaj, The Woke Right

Let’s be real — if politicians were the answer, we wouldn’t be in this mess. In this episode of Black Card Declined, I’m breaking down why political division isn’t a side effect of the system — it’s the point. The chaos, the infighting, the outrage, the constant “pick a side or you’re the enemy” mentality… all of it keeps people distracted while nothing actually changes. I talk about why people keep looking to politicians like saviors, why that never works, and how the media makes money keeping everyone emotional and divided. I also pull from Thomas Sowell because he’s been warning about this exact cycle for decades — and everything he said is playing out in real time. If you’ve ever felt like no matter who’s in office, regular people still lose — this episode will put words to what you’ve been feeling. What I Talk About Why division is good for the system and bad for the peopleHow outrage keeps everyone busy but powerlessWhy politicians were never meant to “fix” anythingHow media narratives keep people emotional instead of logicalThomas Sowell on government, power, and responsibilityWhy independent thinkers get attacked from every directionThe difference between freedom and dependency

Navigating the Open v. Closed Source AI Debate with Kailash Nadh

The episode opens with an in-depth discussion about the value of open source as a model of development and how the definitional contours of open-source AI differ from those of traditional open-source software. The discussion also explores the characteristics and challenges that distinguish open-source AI models from conventional software development approaches. The discussion goes on to address recent strategic shifts in the AI industry towards more open development, sparked by developments like DeepSeek's open-source R1 model and leaked internal assessments suggesting that open-source communities may be outpacing tech giants. The discussion also explores the complex trade-offs between open and closed AI development. While open-source models offer transparency, democratization, and innovation benefits, they also present cybersecurity vulnerabilities and potential national security risks. Nadh addresses concerns about jailbreaking vulnerabilities in open models, using DeepSeek's recent security lapses as an example, while also examining the limitations and risks of closed proprietary systems. Nadh also provides his perspective on India-specific considerations, including the government's IndiaAI Mission and the decision to develop a homegrown large language model, and discuss the strategic implications of India's approach, which is not expected to be open-source at first, and the potential for India to make meaningful progress in driving open-source AI development as a matter of policy.  Episode Contributors  Kailash Nadh is the chief technology officer of Zerodha, India’s leading stock brokerage platform, where he has led its technology and product stack development since 2013. He is also the co-founder and director of FOSS United, a non-profit foundation based in Bangalore, that aims to provide grassroot support to free and open-source software projects and communities in India. In addition to being a full-stack software developer with more than two decades of technical experience, Nath holds a PhD in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics. His most recent writings also provide a compelling analysis of open-source software developments and AI breakthroughs, including in the Indian context.  Shruti Mittal is a research analyst at Carnegie India. Her current research interests include artificial intelligence, semiconductors, compute, and data governance. She is also interested in studying the potential socio-economic value that open development and diffusion of technologies can create in the Global South. Every two weeks, Interpreting India brings you diverse voices from India and around the world to explore the critical questions shaping the nation's future. We delve into how technology, the economy, and foreign policy intertwine to influence India's relationship with the global stage. As a Carnegie India production, hosted by Carnegie scholars, Interpreting India, a Carnegie India production, provides insightful perspectives and cutting-edge by tackling the defining questions that chart India's course through the next decade. Stay tuned for thought-provoking discussions, expert insights, and a deeper understanding of India's place in the world. Alexander Stubb, President of Finland: We live in a world of disorder

“The changing date was the war in Ukraine in February 2022, and then probably the new American administration. So we don't know where the world is going to land. We live a little bit in a world of disorder right now.” Matt Chorley speaks to Alexander Stubb, President of Finland about shifting global priorities and allegiances. President Stubb is known for his good relationship with his American counterpart Donald Trump, forged in part over their shared love of golf. But in spite of this he believes it is right that Nato, as a defensive alliance, should stay out of the war in Iran. This, he says, is the US and Israel’s conflict.
