    #170 2025/10/02（木） ~ Beach, river, or pool? ~ 秋川渓谷に行ったとき、子供の頃よく川に行って遊んだのを思い出しました。 夏になると、近所の川に友達と行ったり、兄と行ったりしたのですが、 今考えると、よく子供だけで遊びに行っていたなと思います。（危ないですね笑） 今は、泳げるくらいきれいな川は少なくなってしまいました。 皆さんは海・川・プールの中でどれが一番好きですか？ あきかわ けいこくに いったとき、こどものころ よく かわに いって あそんだのを おもいだしました。 なつに なると、きんじょの かわに ともだちと いったり、 あにと いったりしたのですが、 いま かんがえると、よく こどもだけで あそびに いっていたなと おもいます。（あぶないですね（わらい）） いまは、およげるくらい きれいな かわは すくなくなってしまいました。 みなさんは うみ・かわ・ぷーるのなかで どれが いちばん すきですか？ When I visited the Akigawa keikoku Valley, it reminded me of how often I used to go play in the river as a child. In summer, I'd go to the nearby river with friends or with my older brothers. Thinking about it now, I'm surprised we used to go play there all by ourselves. (Pretty dangerous lol) These days, there are fewer rivers clean enough to swim in.     #169 2025/10/01 （水） ~ Beautiful Akikawa Keikoku valley in Tokyo ~ 秋がやってきて、暑すぎず、寒すぎず、 出かけるのに本当にいい季節になりました。 こないだは、東京の秋川渓谷というところに行きました。 秋川という、水が透明なとても綺麗な川を見ながら、お弁当やかき氷を食べてゆっくりと時間を過ごすことができます。 五日市ほうとうという、うどんの様な食べ物が有名なのですが、今回は行列で食べられなかったので、次回はぜひ行きたいです。 あきが やってきて、あつすぎず、さむすぎず、でかけるのに ほんとうに いい きせつに なりました。 こないだは、とうきょうの あきがわ けいこく という ところに いきました。 あきがわという、みずが とうめいな とても きれいな かわを みながら、おべんとうや かきごおりを たべて ゆっくりと じかんを すごすことができます。 いつかいち ほうとう という うどんのような たべものが ゆうめいなのですが こんかいは ぎょうれつで たべられなかったので、 じかいは ぜひ いきたいです。 Autumn has arrived and it’s really a good season that's neither too hot nor too cold, truly perfect for going out. Recently, I visited a place called the Akigawa keikoku Valley in Tokyo. You can spent a relaxing time there, enjoying a bento lunch and shaved ice while looking at the Akigawa River, a beautiful river with crystal-clear water. The area is famous for a dish called Itsukaichi Hoto, which resembles udon noodles. Unfortunately, the line was too long to eat it this time, so I definitely want to try it next visit. 【Small tips for visiting Akigawa valley】 In about 10 min bus ride from Musashi itsukaichi station, there is a big place “黒茶屋(kuro chaya)”. Probably you would be able to do all things you want to experience in Akigawa valley in 黒茶屋. It has a restaurant, bento shop, souvenir shop, shaved ice shop, outdoor eating space, etc. You can spend a long time eating takeout or sweets at the beautiful eating space looking at the river, enjoying the atmosphere of the old buildings and the beautiful water in the river. Near 黒茶屋, there is a Houtou noodle shop called “Sagohei”.     #168 2025/09/30（火） ~ Tokyo Citizens’ Day ~ 明日は「都民の日」という祝日です。 これは、東京都だけの祝日です。 都内の学校は休みになりますが、会社は休みじゃないところが多いようです。 都民の日は、上野動物園などのいくつかの施設に、誰でも無料で入れます。 今東京にいる方はぜひ行ってみてください。 あしたは「とみんの ひ」という しゅくじつです。 これは、とうきょうと だけの しゅくじつです。 とないの がっこうは やすみに なりますが、 かいしゃは やすみじゃない ところが おおいようです。 とみんの ひは、うえの どうぶつえん などの いくつかの しせつに、 だれでも むりょうで はいれます。 いま とうきょうに いる かたは ぜひ いってみてください。 Tomorrow is Tokyo Citizens' Day, a public holiday.     #167 2025/09/29（月） ~ Mcdonald’s Japan’s happy meals resale problem ~ マクドナルドの、おもちゃ付きの子供用のセットを、 日本ではハッピーセットといいます。 最近、そのおもちゃを転売するためにハッピーセットを大量に注文して、 ハンバーガーなどは食べずに捨てるという人が増えているという 悲しいニュースがありました。 ニンテンドーはスイッチ2を発売するとき、転売をされないための対策を したそうなのですが、マックでも何かの対策がされるといいなと思います。 まくどなるどの、おもちゃつきの こどもようの せっとを、 にほんでは はっぴーせっと といいます。 さいきん、その おもちゃを てんばいするために はっぴーせっとを たいりょうに ちゅうもんして、はんばーがーなどは たべずに すてるという ひとが ふえているという かなしい にゅーすが ありました。 にんてんどーは すいっち つーを はつばいするとき、てんばいを されないための たいさくを したそうなのですが、まっくでも なにかの たいさくが されるといいなと おもいます。 McDonald's children's meals with toys are called “happy set” in Japan. Sadly, there's been news lately about people ordering lots of Happy Meals just to resell the toys, then throwing away the burgers and other food without eating them. I heard that when Nintendo released the Switch 2, they took measures to prevent reselling.     #166 2025/09/26（金） ~ The answer to Daruma quiz ~ 昨日のだるまクイズの答えです。 だるまを買った後は、お願い事をした後に左目を描きます。 そして、そのお願い事が叶ったら右目を描きます。 お願い事が叶ったら、お寺や神社に持って行って、 「お焚き上げ」をしてもらうのが一般的です。 だるまは倒れても起き上がるので、縁起がいい物と言われています。 きのうの だるま くいずの こたえです。 だるまを かったあとは、おねがいごとを したあとに ひだりめを かきます。 そして、その おねがいごとが かなったら みぎめを かきます。 おねがいごとが かなったら、おてらや じんじゃに もっていって、 「おたきあげ」をしてもらうのが いっぱんてきです。 だるまは たおれても おきあがるので、えんぎが いいもの といわれています。 Here are the answers to yesterday's Daruma quiz.     #165 2025/09/25（木） ~ Why Daruma has no eyeballs? ~ 昨日の深大寺の話の続きなのですが、 深大寺には有名なだるまのおみくじがあります。 このだるまは、買ったときは目玉が描いてありません。 何かをした後に左目を書いて、何かをした後に右目を描きます。 だるまに目を描く前に、どんなことをするか、知っていますか？ きのうの じんだいじの はなしの つづきなのですが、 じんだいじには ゆうめいな だるまの おみくじがあります。 この だるまは、かったときは めだまが かいてありません。 なにかを したあとに ひだりめを かいて、なにかを したあとに みぎめをかきます。 だるまに めを かくまえに、どんなことを するか、しっていますか？ Continuing from yesterday's story about Jindaiji Temple, the temple is famous for its daruma fortune-telling dolls. When you buy this daruma, its eyes are not painted in. After you did something, you paint the left eye, and after you did something else, you paint the right eye.     #164 2025/09/24（水） ~ I highly recommend visiting beautiful Jindaiji in Tokyo ~ 先週末、東京の深大寺というところに行きました。 新宿から電車で40分くらいなのですが、東京と思えないくらい 緑がたくさんありました。深大寺はお蕎麦が有名で、 深大寺というお寺の周りに、たくさん蕎麦屋があります。 他にもアイスもなか、そばパン、お団子など、美味しいものがたくさんあるので、 自然と美味しいものを楽しみたい方はぜひ行ってみてください！ せんしゅうまつ、とうきょうの じんだいじ という ところに いきました。 しんじゅくから でんしゃで よんじゅっぷんくらいなのですが、 とうきょうと おもえないくらい みどりが たくさん ありました。 じんだいじは おそばが ゆうめいで、じんだいじ という おてらの まわりに、 たくさん そばやが あります。 ほかにも あいす もなか、そば ぱん、おだんごなど、おいしいものが たくさん あるので、しぜんと おいしいものを たのしみたい かたは ぜひ いってみてください！ Last weekend, I went to a place called Jindaiji in Tokyo. It's about a 40-minute train ride from Shinjuku, but there was so much greenery, it felt like you weren't even in Tokyo. Jindaiji is famous for its soba noodles, and there are many soba restaurants around the Jindaiji temple. There are also lots of other delicious things like ice cream monaka, soba bread, and dango, so if you want to enjoy the nature and tasty foods, you should definitely go! 【Fun fact of Omikuji in Jindaiji】 Omikuji (fortune telling paper) in Jindaiji temple is famous for having many of “凶/ kyou (bad luck)” It’s said that that’s because getting 凶 would motivate you to get over bad things. Plus, omikuji in Jindaiji is the traditional one, which has many of 凶.     #163 2025/09/23（火） ~ It’s Ohigan today ~ 今日はお彼岸です。お彼岸は、毎年3月20日頃の春分の日と、 9月23日頃の秋分の日のことです。お墓参りに行き、 ご先祖様が幸せに暮らせるようにお祈りをする日です。 彼岸花という花を聞いたことがありますか？ 鬼滅の刃に青い彼岸花が出てくるので知っている方も多いかもしれません。 彼岸花は秋のお彼岸の頃に咲くので、彼岸花というそうです。 きょうは おひがんです。おひがんは、まいとし さんがつ はつかごろの しゅんぶんの ひと、くがつ にじゅうさんにち ごろの しゅうぶんの ひの ことです。 おはかまいりに いき、ごせんぞさまが しあわせに くらせるように おいのりを する ひです。 ひがんばな という はなを きいたことが ありますか？ きめつの やいばに あおい ひがんばなが でてくるので しっている かたも おおいかもしれません。 ひがんばなは あきの おひがんの ころに さくので、ひがんばな というそうです。 Today is Higan. Higan refers to the spring equinox around March 20th and the autumn equinox around September 23rd each year. It's a day to visit graves and pray for our ancestors' happiness. Have you heard of the flower named higanbana? Many of you might know it because a blue higanbana appears in Demon Slayer. Higanbana bloom around the autumn equinox, so it’s said that’s why the name is “Higanbana” 【Today’s words】 To be precise, higan is for 7 days and its middle day is March 20th or September 23rd.
