    Shariful Islam, a 24-year-old electrician working on the Smart City Project in Agartala, Tripura, went missing on June 8, 2025. Days later, on June 11, his body was found stuffed in a suitcase inside a freezer at an ice cream shop in Gandacherra, Dhalai district. This horrifying murder has left the entire state shocked. According to Tripura Police, Shariful was strangled by Dr. Dibakar Saha, a 28-year-old doctor who was allegedly in love with Shariful’s girlfriend, Nabanita Das. Investigations revealed a chilling love triangle conspiracy, where jealousy turned fatal. The murder was carefully planned in South Indranagar, Agartala, before the body was transported to the ice cream shop to be hidden in a freezer. Police have arrested a total of six suspects so far, including Dr. Dibakar Saha, his parents Dipak Saha and Debika Saha, Nabanita Das, and two accomplices Joydeep Das and Animesh Yadav. The crime scene has been reconstructed, and forensic reports are awaited to strengthen the charges. His wife, Pallavi, has been accused of carrying out the murder, allegedly motivated by property disputes and long-standing domestic conflict. According to police reports, Pallavi called the emergency helpline after the killing and confessed to the crime, telling officers, “I have killed the monster.” Investigators say she used kitchen knives, a glass bottle, and other household items to stab him repeatedly. Their daughter, Kriti, was also present at the home during the incident and has been sent for mental health evaluation while being questioned as a witness. The murder of such a high-ranking retired police officer has shaken Karnataka and raised questions about mental health, family conflicts, and property feuds.
