    Energy Centre 20th Anniversary

    The Energy Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. We brought the trustees of The Energy Education Trust together to find out how the Energy Centre was conceived and the work that it has conducted over the past two decades. Dr Pauline Herbst asks founder Norman Godden and current chair Tim Henaghan what they set out to do and where the initial funding came from. They are joined by trustees Peter Sewell, Susan Paterson ONZM and Bryan Mogridge ONZM to discuss the scholarships, research and seminars the trust funds, the history of energy in New Zealand and the decisions needed to manage millions of dollars. We also talk about which personal highlights stand out for each trustee and what they predict will happen over the next 20 years,

    Energy Case Competition Winners Interview 2025

    Every year the Energy Centre hosts a competition where students get to compete for a prize pot – but only if they can present compelling solutions to some of New Zealand’s most pressing energy problems. This year, Professor Emilson Silva, the Chair in Energy Economics, and the Director of The Energy Centre at the University of Auckland set one of the Energy Case Competition’s hardest challenges to date in the wake of the 2024 Energy Crisis.
