"A Decade of Training & Health Coaching" with Jake Picht

Today I'm thrilled to be joined by another one of my colleagues, Jake Picht. Jake is a former college baseball player and current Health Coach and Exercise Physiologist with Reformed Fitness. I've had the pleasure of working with Jake on and off for close to a decade now and I've met few better trainers ever in my time in the industry. Jake shares with us his in depth knowledge of strength training and how he made the transition to working completely remote for his training and health coaching services. We talk about some of the benefits of working remote, and many of the benefits. We also discuss at length some of the most important things to consider if you've ever thought about taking your business completely virtual. Between the two of us we've conducted over 50,000, 1-on-1 and small group workouts, in person and online. There are probably not two better trainers in the world when it comes to the nuances of high level coaching in the virtual space. I know you'll enjoy this episode and please make sure to like and subscribe. I'm hoping to finish my new book in the next few months, with the same title as this podcast. In the interim if you love the show and want to support, I'd appreciate you picking up a copy of my first book "How 2 Look Good Naked". If you've ever thought about adding to your own home gym, there's a brand I'm a huge fan of that I couldn't recommend more highly. Temple of Gainz is a California based company that's making waves in the home gym space with some of the best products on the market. Their thoughtful designs inspired by great machines of the past are constantly being innovated and improved. Their customer service is top notch and they have some of the most competitive prices in the space with their direct to consumer shipping (which is free if you spend more than $1500). Whether you own a small studio or want to create the ultimate home gym, you should give Temple of Gainz a try! If you haven't already please like, subscribe and share. "First NPC Show & JackedNLeen Coaching" with Jack Stiele

Season 2, episode 6! Today's episode is a banger! If you've ever thought of competing in a bodybuilding show, you don't want to miss this one. I'm joined today by my friend and colleague Jack Stiele. Jack is an up and coming bodybuilding coach and competitor working out of the JackedNLeen Gym in Rogers, MN. He works directly with Jack Oosten, another former guest and the owner of JackedNLeen. Jack Stiele, or "little jack", as he's called at the gym, recently completed his first official NPC Bodybuilding show last fall. In this episode we discuss what that process was like. Grinding through the workouts, the meals, the prep. We also dive into Jack's coaching philosophy and what makes him tick as a coach. If you're thinking of doing a show and looking for a coach that can help you get you to your best possible stage ready physique, Little Jack, just might be your guy. If competition is less your style, but you simply want to be a more badass, robust, harder to kill human, you should give Jack a try as well. You can find his Instagram HERE, or reach out directly at jackstiele@jackednleen.com. I'm hoping to finish my new book in the next few months, with the same title as this podcast. In the interim if you love the show and want to support, I'd appreciate you picking up a copy of my first book "How 2 Look Good Naked". "Building a Successful Virtual Training Company" with Xavier Robinson

Season 2... Episode 5! Today I'm thrilled to be joined today by the founder of Reformed Fitness, Xavier Robinson. Reformed Fitness is one of the leading HIT training companies in the world, and probably the most prominent in the virtual health coaching and personal training space. Xavier and I worked together for a number of years at a previous fitness business. After COVID he decided to break off and start his own virtual personal training business. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to come work with him again at Reformed Fitness and I've been there a little over two years now. On today's episode Xavier shares with us the inception of Reformed Fitness. What made him decide to quit a stable career and branch off on his own to pursue entrepreneurship, and how he's continuing to grow the company today and in the future. Reformed is unique in that it is entirely virtual. No overhead, just amazing virtual 1:1 workouts and health coaching anywhere in the world. If you've ever thought about opening your own fitness business, and worried about the investment, you don't want to miss this episode. Xavier shares a ton of lessons learned along the way, and how he continues to make Reformed Fitness an innovative leader in the high intensity training and health coaching space. "Purely Driven Fitness" with Nik Daniel

Season 2. Episode 4! I'm so excited to be joined this week by my good friend Nik Daniel. Nik owns Purely Driven Fitness, where he specializes in helping clients moving into middle age with great health, strength and vitality. Nik and I have known each other for over a decade now. We used to work together at the same restaurant back before we both became sober, and our journeys since that time together have taken similar trajectories. Nik was a musician in his younger years, then emigrated to the United States and worked in hospitality for a number of years. He'd always had a passion for fitness, and finally during COVID was able to transition that passion into a full time training career. He now works with clients in person and online offering holistic coaching solutions for people trying to make a healthy life transition into middle age. Nik's story is awesome and he's one of the best humans I've ever met. I think you'll really enjoy this episode and be inspired by his love of all things fitness and the evolution of his journey as he continues to try to help others. If you're interested in learning more about Nik or his services check out his website, or give him a follow on social media! "Online Virtual Training & Health Coaching" with Amy Walz

Season 2. Episode 3! I'm so excited to be joined today by the AMAZING Amy Walz! Amy is my colleague and coworker at my current company Reformed Fitness. We've been working together for the better part of the last year and she's one of the best trainers and health coaches I've ever had the pleasure to work with. In this week's episode we discuss how Amy got into the fitness industry. How working in High Intensity Training transformed the way she trained herself and her clients. We also discuss what it's been like for her making the transition to training completely virtually. What separates her "virtual training" from other simple "online" coaches, and why she thinks health coaching was the missing piece in her business. Amy is a fantastic young trainer and entrepreneur and I'm so thrilled to get to work with her each and every day. If you're interested in working directly with Amy you can email her directly at amy@reformed-fitness.com. Or visit the scheduling page of the Reformed Fitness website to set up a free discovery call and start making the most of your fitness journey! "Spiritual Bodybuilding" with Justin Vizakis

Episode 2. Spiritual Bodybuilding... what the heck is that? I'm so excited to share this episode with you all. Today I'm joined by Justin Vizakis, the founder of "Spiritual Bodybuilding" and Optimizing Human. Justin came into my sphere somewhat indirectly, but it was one of those serendipitous things that makes sense in the larger picture of life. Justin is more than just a coach, he helps build stronger, more robust, more in tune human beings. He specializes on working with men. Helping to optimize every aspect of their life. Physical, mental, and obviously spiritual. As intimidating as he might look physically, he's one of the nicest most genuine people I've yet to meet in the industry. In this episode we dive deep into his own journey of discovery. As a veteran when he first discovered a deep love of bodybuilding. Then transitioning from that life, dealing with PTSD, and finding himself through self discovery and plant medicine. His approach is unique and his experience is one of a kind. If you're looking for someone that can truly help you find a holistic approach to wellness. You'll definitely want to give this episode a listen, and reach out to him if you're interested in learning more HERE. I also highly recommend giving his instagram a follow HERE. Enjoy this episode and don't ever be afraid to challenge the status quo if you really want to build the most robust version of you possible! "The Joy Choice" Dr. Michelle Segar

In our last throw back episode before starting Season 2 of "Exercise is B******T" I'm privileged to have Dr. Michelle Segar on the podcast. This was an episode that never made it to air on my previous show for a variety of reasons. None of which had to do with Dr. Segar's brilliance. In this episode we discuss her best selling book "The Joy Choice". An easy read and one I would highly recommend to all of my listeners. Dr. Segar's work is primarily focused around how to get people motivated and active to do physical activity that sticks. Her book is all about making little decisions in your daily life, that can add up to make a big impact over the long term. If you or anyone you know has struggled with finding a way to open the door to physical health and wellness, I would highly recommend you send them a copy of "The Joy Choice". We'll pick back up in a couple of weeks with the first episode of Season 2. I'm so excited for what this season has in store! I'm hoping to finish my new book in the next few months as well, with the same title as this podcast. In the interim if you love the show and want to support, I'd appreciate you picking up a copy of my first book "How 2 Look Good Naked". It's currently on pre-order on Kickstarter and has already raised of $500,000!!!! This leg piece is unlike any other on the market.
