    Macholan Angus Summer Tour

    Host Scott Beck visits Macholan Angus in Linwood, Nebraska, for an in-depth herd tour with Keaton Macholan. Recorded on August 6th under ideal overcast conditions, the episode covers the operation's impressive cattle program heading into their 7th annual bull sale — held the first Tuesday in March at the Columbus Sales Pavilion in Columbus, Nebraska. Scott and Keaton walk through the entire herd and highlight what's shaping up to be perhaps the best set of bulls Macholan Angus has ever raised. Out of nearly 60 head, only five weighed under 700 pounds — a standout result given the drought conditions earlier in the year. Key topics include: Home-raised sires stealing the show: Marathon and Summit, both bred at Macholan Angus, are producing calves that rival or exceed the AI-sired groups. Scott and Keaton discuss several standout Marathon and Summit bull calves and heifers, including a thick, deep Marathon calf out of a young second calver.Tetons: A sire used on heifers that threw heavy, growthy, easy-calving bull calves with great commercial appeal, along with feminine, wedge-shaped females.Significant: A bull whose calves were highlights of last year's sale, with another tremendous bull calf out of the 1803 donor cow this year.
