Episode 6 - Blades of Glory with Liam Malone

This time I was fortunate enough to sit down with Paralympic gold medalist Liam Malone.

Recently at the Paralympics Liam won the silver medal in the men's 100 metres and took the gold in both the men's 200 metres and 400 metres. Liam smashed Oscar Pistorius record in the 200m at the games and during the interview goes into detail how he spoke with Oscar while he was on home detention earlier in the year.

Soon after his medal haul Liam grasped the worlds attention with his attitude and outlook on life featuring on several high profile shows in the UK including stand up to cancer.

We talk about Liam's journey to the RIO games, dealing with adversity and whats next for 22 year old.

I think your really going to love this one Liam, he is an absolute champ.

Episode 2 - How to be funny and create amazing reality TV shows with Cory Gonzales Macuer

Episode 2 - How to be funny and create amazing reality TV shows with Cory Gonzales Macuer

Cory is a father, mate, comedian, actor, good bastard, son, brother and former semi professional soccer player. Cory won the Billy T James award for up coming comedian in 2006ss. Since then he has obtained a university degree, been in Hollywood block busters, hung with A listers (he will hate that I said that) and dealt with hardship.

Over a few red wines the conversation goes in all sorts of directions and later that night I got to see him kill it on stage. I'm already planning part two with Cory.

He also named the show chilling with Tocks but my creative director didn't go with it.

Hope you enjoy the show. I had a lot of fun recording this as you will quickly tell.

Episode 23 - Jay Reeve, the man and the myth

Episode 23 - Jay Reeve, the man and the myth

Jay Reeve is the peoples champion. His positivity is contagious and his ability to yarn is second to none. He has the sayings and slang of a farmer from Gore and nonce of a wallstreet businessmen.

We conversed for 2.5 hours and covered pretty much all the problems of the world and solved most of them while consuming our favourite beverages.

Highlights include learning about how Clark Gayford pulled Jacinda Arden, his paid for trip to the Rugby World Cup which he calls the best piss-up he’s ever had and his ability to stay mentally and physically fit all year round.

Jay absolutely has his shit together. A lot of what he does is very calculated and you pickup on this as the chat progresses. Some people might call him lucky, in fact he thinks he is lucky but I don’t agree.  He is able to spot opportunities in business and life and seems to execute well.

You can’t help want to be a bit more like Jay Reeves after listening to this chat. That’s why he is the myth and the legend.

Motivational Magic

I've listened to a couple of episodes and JP, as the host you manage to interview your guests and I imagine entertain your listeners, whilst having the rare ability to talk into a microphone unselfconsciously, as if living under a big, red button flashing Live is your natural state. Sharp enough to indulge any subject - business, sports, pop culture, geography, ethics — I can see why listeners would tune in to hear your spiel. Plenty to take away from your chat with Makaia. Nice work.
