    And Then Some… A Baker’s Journey

Episode Overview: What if the recipes we pass down carried more than flavor—what if they carried healing, legacy, and truth? In this heartfelt conversation, I sit down with baker, entrepreneur, and author Renel Turner to talk about her new book And Then Some… A Baker’s Journey. More than a cookbook, Renel’s work blends deeply personal reflections with family recipes, using baking as a doorway into conversations about identity, generational healing, motherhood, and the courage it takes to listen to your inner voice. Renel shares how she taught herself to bake from scratch with little more than determination and a hand mixer, eventually opening her bakery and becoming the first Black-owned bakery in her hometown. But her journey wasn’t just about building a business—it was about survival, rediscovering herself in the midst of depression, and learning to trust the quiet voice within. Through stories inspired by recipes like red velvet cake, cheesecake, and lemon blueberry cake, Renel invites us to reflect on the traditions we inherit, the wounds we carry, and the legacy we choose to pass on. This episode is a powerful reminder that sometimes the sweetest things we create are born out of our hardest seasons. In this episode, we talk about: How baking became a path to healing and self-discoveryThe role of family traditions and untold stories in shaping who we areNavigating motherhood while breaking generational patternsWhy listening to your internal voice can change everythingTurning messy beginnings into meaningful legacy Renel's Contact Information:  Email: Nellystreats@yahoo.com   Website: www.Nellystreats.com   IG: Nellystreats_518    Facebook: Nellystreats518  Stay Connected If this episode resonated with you, be sure to follow the podcast and share it with someone who might need this conversation. Check-Ins and Laying Bricks

Sometimes before a new chapter begins, you have to pause and take a breath. In this episode, I’m checking in and sharing a little about what’s been unfolding in my life lately. Over the past several months, I’ve been making some intentional decisions about my health—decisions that I know will change me in ways that will impact the rest of my life. It’s made something very clear to me: it’s time for us to start talking about women’s health differently. Not just the surface-level conversations, but the kind that center longevity, care, and real, lasting change. This episode also sets the stage for a new shift and series I’ve been working on for the podcast. I’m laying a few bricks for what’s ahead, and I’m excited to bring you along as these conversations begin to unfold. I’m also sharing a preview of an upcoming guest, Renel Turner, founder of Nelly’s Treats in Albany, NY, and catching you up on what I’ve been up to behind the scenes. Think of this episode as a moment to reconnect—and the beginning of something new. There are beautiful things ahead. In This Episode A personal check-in and what I’ve been learning latelyThe health decisions that are shaping my next chapterWhy it’s time for deeper conversations about women’s health and longevityA preview of my upcoming conversation with Renel Turner of Nelly’s TreatsA look at the new direction and series coming to the podcastStay Connected If this episode resonated with you, be sure to follow the podcast and share it with someone who might need this conversation. Called on My BS: The Ego Had to Die Before the Results Could Live

There comes a moment in every growth journey when you realize the problem isn’t a lack of information… it’s a lack of implementation. In this episode, I’m sharing the honest truth about being called on my own excuses. On my body recomposition journey, I had to face something uncomfortable: I wanted results, but I didn’t fully want surrender. I wanted progress, but I was still negotiating with the plan. I wanted transformation, but I was protecting my ego. The breakthrough didn’t come from working harder. It came from getting humble. We’re talking about: The difference between asking for advice and actually applying itWhy ego often disguises itself as independenceHow accountability accelerates growthWhat changed when I stopped tweaking the plan and started trusting the processWhy obedience to the goal matters more than motivationThis conversation goes beyond fitness. It touches marriage, business, healing, leadership, and what it truly means to grow — especially as a woman over 50. Healing over 50 requires honesty. It requires letting old versions of ourselves die. It requires surrender. And sometimes, being called on your own bullshit is the greatest gift you’ll ever receive. This episode is the springboard into a new series on what it means to be healing, evolving, and choosing differently in this season of life.  Reflection Questions Where am I asking for help but resisting correction? What version of me needs to die for my next level to live?Am I protecting my comfort more than I’m pursuing my growth?Who have I not fully trusted because I still want control? Key Takeaways Accountability is alignment, not weakness.Growth requires implementation, not just inspiration.Ego is often fear dressed up as confidence.Discipline feels better than regret. It’s never too late to evolve. Series Introduction This episode begins a new series exploring Healing Over 50 — the mindset shifts, ego deaths, boundaries, body changes, spiritual maturity, and personal evolution that come with choosing growth in this season. Because healing at this stage isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about becoming honest. Soft, Clear, and Unavailable for Chaos

Episode Description: There comes a point where you realize you’re moving differently—not harder, not louder, just with more intention. In this episode, I reflect on what it looks like to live from a place of clarity instead of reaction. From how I care for my body, to how I respond to stressful situations, to how I see people and the world around me, this season has required a deeper level of intentionality. This conversation is about honoring peace without hardening your heart. It’s about trusting yourself enough to pause. And it’s about recognizing that clarity—especially in this moment—isn’t cruelty. It’s survival. If you’ve noticed yourself slowing down, choosing differently, or protecting your peace in new ways, this episode is for you. In this episode, we explore: What it means to move differently in a new seasonIntentionality as self-trust, not restrictionHow caring for your body is an act of alignmentResponding with calm without denying realityWhy clarity is essential for peace and survivalChoosing pause over reactionBeing soft, discerning, and unavailable for chaosReflection Questions: Where have you noticed yourself moving differently? What deserves a pause instead of a reaction? What does intentionality look like in this season of your life?Stay Connected: Follow me on Instagram & Threads: @thenotoriouspldb Watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thewelldonelifepameladavis1928  Learn more about The Well Done Life: @thewelldonelifepodcast Listen to past episodes on all streaming platforms. This episode closes the I Didn’t Change. I Integrated. series. In Episode 1, we explored the grief that often comes with growth. In Entering Whole, Pamela reflects on embodiment—how growth shows up in real life, in love, in faith, and in the quiet choices we make when we stop explaining ourselves and start trusting our alignment. This episode isn’t about perfection or performance. It’s about peace, discernment, and entering your next season whole. In this episode, we explore: Moving from awareness to embodimentLetting your life reflect your growthLoving without self-abandonmentFaith as alignment, not performanceChoosing peace over explanationEntering new seasons whole—not reinventedReflection for the Listener: Where are you being invited to live the work instead of talking about it?What would change if you trusted that who you are right now is enough? What does it look like for you to enter your next season whole? Integration Over Reinvention

There’s a lot of pressure to reinvent yourself when you grow—to become someone new, sharper, or more distant from who you once were. But real growth doesn’t require erasure. It requires integration. In this episode, Pamela explores what it means to become whole instead of becoming new. This conversation centers discernment without hardness, boundaries without bitterness, and the quiet confidence that comes from letting your life reflect your growth—without the need to explain or justify it. This episode is for anyone who has settled into themselves and is learning how to move from alignment instead of approval. In this episode, we explore: Why reinvention is often overratedThe difference between performing growth and embodying itWhat integration looks like in real lifeDiscernment versus emotional hardnessLetting your life speak instead of constantly explaining yourselfTrusting God’s guidance over outside opinionsReflection Questions: Where are you performing growth instead of living it?What parts of you are asking to be integrated, not replaced? What would change if you trusted that your life already reflects your growth?
