  1. Episode 155: The Psychological Impact of Curses

Episode 155: The Psychological Impact of Curses

What does it mean when someone says you’ve been “worked on”? Across cultures and traditions including Vodou, Hoodoo, Obeah, and Santería, there exists a shared understanding that spiritual force can be directed with intention. In this episode, we explore the internal experience of believing you’ve been spiritually targeted. Not as spectacle, not as caricature, but as a psychological and emotional reality that has shaped lives for centuries. When someone believes harm has been initiated against them, the body responds. Sleep changes. Perception shifts. Coincidence feels personal. Whether curses operate through spirit, suggestion, or something in between, the fear of unseen intention remains one of the most unsettling human experiences. Tonight we sit in that ambiguity. 2. Episode 154: The Global Legend of Bigfoot

    4 MAR

Episode 154: The Global Legend of Bigfoot

Across continents and across centuries, people have described something standing at the edge of the wild. It has many names. Sasquatch. Bigfoot. Yeti. Orang Pendek. Almas. Yowie. Woodwose. And within the United States alone, dozens more depending on the region. Different languages. Different terrain. Different cultures. Yet the description keeps circling back to the same basic shape. In this episode of 4 Ever Paranormal, we take a careful look at that pattern. We go back to 1958 and the Bluff Creek footprints, when Jerry Crew carried plaster casts into the Humboldt Times and reporter Andrew Genzoli used the word “Bigfoot” in print. A simple newspaper term that eventually swallowed older, local traditions. From there we move outward. Southeast Asia. The Caucasus. The Himalayas. Australia. Europe. Each place has its own version, its own name, its own setting. Jungle. Mountain. Swamp. Forest. But the figure remains upright. Human-like. Reclusive. Always just outside certainty. We also talk about the differences. Regional traits. Track variations. How evolution would interpret isolation if this were biological. And how anecdotal evidence accumulates differently than laboratory data, yet still builds a body of ongoing research. The subject remains outside confirmed science, but it has never quite disappeared either. In the end, this is not an episode about proving anything. It is about a story that refuses to go away. One land. Many names. A recurring encounter that continues to surface wherever people step into deep wilderness and come back unsettled. 3. Episode 153: The Undead Strigoi

    25 FEB

    Episode 153: The Undead Strigoi

Long before vampires became entertainment, villages across Romania and the Balkans feared something closer, quieter, and far more personal. Strigoi were believed to be the dead who returned to harm the living. Not strangers. Not creatures from distant places. Family members, neighbors, people who had only recently been buried. In this episode of 4 Ever Paranormal, we explore the folklore of Strigoi as it was lived, not romanticized. We talk about the two types, the dead known as Strigoi Morti and the living believed to carry the condition, Strigoi Vii. We look at the kinds of deaths that were thought to create risk, why certain graves were treated differently, and the extreme measures villagers believed were necessary to stop the dead from returning. We examine the repeating patterns that made people act. Illness following a funeral. Exhaustion that settled into the same household. Harm that stayed close to the grave instead of spreading outward. We describe what Strigoi were believed to look like when graves were opened, and how recognition, not spectacle, fueled fear. As the episode moves forward, we trace how these deeply local beliefs began to overlap with other traditions from Slavic, Hungarian, and Greek folklore. Not everything became a vampire. Some figures were closer to ghouls or revenants. Over time, details blended, stories traveled, and something older and more personal slowly hardened into something more familiar. We also discuss why these beliefs never fully disappeared. Even today, altered graves are still being discovered where bodies were interfered with because someone believed the dead would not stay buried. The fear left marks in the ground, and those marks are still there. Episode 152: The Poltergeist of Phelps Mansion

In 1850, something strange took over a large home on Elm Street in Stratford, Connecticut. It wasn’t a ruin. It wasn’t abandoned. It was a busy family house, lived in, watched, and well known in town. Then the knocks started. Sounds moved through the house. Objects shifted when people were watching. Clothing was arranged into shapes that didn’t feel accidental. When questions were asked out loud, the house sometimes seemed to respond. This episode looks at what came to be called the Stratford Knockings, or the Phelps Mansion poltergeist. Not as legend, but as a series of reported events that drew neighbors, clergy, skeptics, and eventually crowds. The more people watched, the less the activity seemed to care. The family eventually left town for the winter. When they did, everything stopped. When they came back months later, nothing resumed. No second wave. No lingering activity. Just silence. There’s no clean explanation at the end of this one. Just a record of something that happened, stopped, and never clarified what it was. 5. Episode 151: Pennhurst: It Was Always Haunted

    11 FEB

Episode 151: Pennhurst: It Was Always Haunted

This week we take a look at the lesser-known history of Pennhurst State School and Hospital, AKA Pennhurst Asylum. What was there before abandonment, before paranormal investigations, and before television crews. Drawing from compiled staff accounts recorded while the institution was still active, this episode explores how unexplained disturbances were documented, managed, and quietly absorbed during daily operations beginning in the 1940’s. Rather than framing Pennhurst as something that became haunted after closure, we examine how overcrowding, staff turnover, and institutional pressure may have buried patterns that later investigators would encounter in isolation. This is not a ghost-hunting episode. It’s a look at what was already there, and how history shapes what we experience now. Episode 150: Houska: The Castle Built to Contain Evil

For this episode of 4 Ever Paranormal, the team takes us to Houska Castle, built in the medieval ages isolated from the rest of the world for reasons beyond ordinary understanding. Instead of looking at hauntings or ghosts, we try to analyze why it was built directly over what might be considered not just an ordinary pit, learn about folklore that described creatures coming out of it, and consider what those stories say about ancient beliefs concerning thresholds and containment. We separate documented history from legend by examining why incomplete and distorted beings appear so often in boundary folklore and address later speculation surrounding Nazi interest in the site without blurring fact and fiction. Houska isn’t a story about invasion or escape, but about something unfinished, something pressing upward, and why some places were built not to defend against enemies but to manage what lay beneath. 7. Episode 149: The Van Meter Visitor Unveiled

    28 JAN

Episode 149: The Van Meter Visitor Unveiled

Van Meter, Iowa was a small rural community. In 1903 strange happenings began to occur there. Many people, over several nights, saw a large winged creature with a powerful beam of light and movements that did not match anything from the known world. After it went into the coal mine their sightings ended all at once-no proof left behind, no answers found. This episode reviews what went on in Van Meter and why the story took the shape it did, how the incident was reported at that time, what factors led to such restraint in the town, and later evolution of the event into a modern legend. It puts Van Meter into a broader context by comparing it to other winged-entity sightings from places as disparate as Chicago and West Virginia, discussing why these encounters so often happened not deep in wildness but near towns, homes, and altered landscapes. This is not an episode about evidence of what the Van Meter Visitor was. It’s about patterns, about timing, about those thin places where human activity and the unexplained seam to intersect. Sometimes the most disturbing stories are not those that build to a climax but rather just peek in, slip away quietly and take years to be understood. All mysteries don’t ask for answers. Some beg to be remembered. 8. Episode 148: Who is the Mother of Witches?

    21 JAN

Episode 148: Who is the Mother of Witches?

In this episode of 4 Ever Paranormal, we carefully examine the question of who is referred to as the mother of witches and why that title falls so variably in the application from tradition to tradition. We look at Hekate and Aradia, not as competitors—not even as interchangeable figures—but rather as two sources very different in terms of power and meaning within witch lore. Hekate has her origins in ancient mythology as a threshold figure balancing authority over spaces where forbidden knowledge might dwell while Aradia comes to us mostly through a late nineteenth-century text as a teacher sent to teach and thereby empower the downtrodden. Along the way, we discuss how Italian folklore, later publication, and transmission shape belief, and why the word “mother” carries very different weight depending on whether it refers to authority or instruction. This episode isn’t about declaring a winner, but about slowing the conversation down and understanding why these figures are still talked about at all.
