I dug up my old iTunes account, reset my password and all, just so I could finally write this review, but Dungeons & Daddies is worth those two minutes! I've started looking forward to my commute to and from work just to listen to this, all my smiling and laughing now branding me the crazy person on the bus.
Right off the bat I should say that this podcast is not just for people who play D&D or are dads (I am neither) but for anyone with an interest in fantasy and role-playing with a bit of pop culture thrown in (which I am). The dads themselves have really distinct personalities and interact well with each other, often resulting in very wholesome moments throughout their adventures in the Forgotten Realms. Currently, Ron is my favourite dad (which Beth probably already knew) but it's one of those things where you can't help but like ALL the dads, even Glenn Close. The Daddy Master is hilariously quick-witted, too. My only previous experience with D&D is from its depiction on the TV shows Community and Big Bang, so I never knew what went on under the hood. It is clear that Anthony works really hard to craft the adventure... and the dads just mess it up.
Outside the story, the technical aspects of the podcast are just as impressive. Its theme song 'Alright' by Maxton Waller brings me back to the feeling of growing up in the mid-2000's (I can't explain why) and background music and sound mixing help with the immersion without being too distracting.
Why are you still reading this, as if you needed any more persuading? Go listen to Dungeons & Daddies now!
