    3 Secrets To Market Leadership

Van Halen demanded only blue M&Ms in their green room. Everyone thought they were being divas. They weren't. It was a test. If the concert promoter couldn't get the M&Ms right, they probably didn't read the part of the contract about pyrotechnics and stage rigging either. Blue M&Ms = we read the contract = you're probably not going to die on stage tonight. That's what standards look like when you're a market leader. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I break down why most coaches think they have a marketing problem when they actually have a leadership problem. You think you need better Facebook ads, more followers, or the perfect Instagram bio. But here's the truth: the reason you don't have 50,000 people on your email list isn't because you haven't figured out the funnel. It's because you haven't decided to be a leader of 50,000 conversations every single week. I share the 3 secrets to becoming a market leader - the courageous decisions, elevated standards, and amplified authenticity that separate people who ride comfortably in the middle of the pack from those who pull out front and feel the wind, grit, and resistance. What you'll learn: → Secret 1: Take courageous action - Focus on opportunity cost, not absolute cost (what does NOT taking action cost you?) → Secret 2: Lift your standards to the next level - What are your blue M&Ms? (the small indicators of excellence) → Secret 3: Amplify who you are even more - Play the whole keyboard, not just middle C (bring out all the authentic parts of you) → Secret 4: Decide you're a leader before you feel like one - Leadership doesn't happen TO you, you decide it first → Why the peloton metaphor explains everything about market leadership → How one client went from cupcake company employee to six figures in 2-3 months (and what she did differently) Real insights from the episode: Why leadership is you amplified, not you in a suit being stifled and professional The moment Colin sat in a room with 4-5 market leaders and decided "I'm going to be a leader of market leaders" Why going pro doesn't mean hiring a massive team - it means deciding what you'll show up for consistently How Colin has delivered 317 podcast episodes and only missed 1-2 weeks in four years (that's a standard) Why market leaders don't wait for the invitation - they send it The difference between absolute cost and opportunity cost (and why market leaders focus on the latter) Interested in working with me directly to scale your Expert business? How to Build A Highly Valuable Network

"Colin, how did you get connected to these big names you've collaborated and worked this? People like Amy Porterfield, Jenna Kutcher, Anthony O'Neal and Carrie Green?" Here's the honest answer nobody wants to hear: I paid to be in the same room as them. Not like... I didn't bribe anyone. I paid to be in masterminds, programs, and conferences where these people were. Then I didn't act like a fan. I acted like a peer. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I break down how to build a highly valuable network without being creepy, needy, or manipulative. More than 50% of my business success has come from relationships and friendships I've intentionally built in this industry - and I'm sharing exactly how I did it. I walk through the mindset shifts, tactical strategies, and energy you need to bring when networking. This isn't about manipulation or playing games. It's about deciding that building relationships is important, investing to be in the right rooms, and showing up from a place of abundance instead of scarcity. What you'll learn: → Why you need to pay to be in the room (and why almost every major relationship requires investment) → How to come from abundance instead of scarcity (people can smell neediness from a mile away) → The 60-day check-in system: How to stay connected without being weird (Instagram, WhatsApp, Voxer, then text) → The hallway hack: Where the most influential people hang out during conference sessions (spoiler: not in their seats) → Why showing up as a fan kills your chance of becoming a peer or partner → The law of reciprocity: How having a podcast (or platform) creates natural collaboration opportunities → How to transition from "person at the event" to "person they text when they're in town" Real insights from the episode: Why conferences should be 80% about meeting people and 20% about content How to reach out to people in paid programs you're already in (the 15-minute catch-up framework) Why market value and personal value are different (and how to leverage both) The Instagram to WhatsApp to text progression for building relationship intimacy Why starting a podcast was less about building an audience and more about having a platform to offer value to people Colin wanted relationships with Interested in working with me directly to scale your Expert business? Nailing Your Niche

I was terrified to niche down. Genuinely terrified. I thought if I narrowed my focus, I'd miss out on helping so many people. So I stayed broad. "I help people with leadership and career advancement and life coaching and business coaching and high performance and..." You know what happened? Nothing. Crickets. Then I niched down on teaching coaches how to sell from stage. One specific thing. One specific person. One specific problem. My business tripled. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I break down the Niche Making Model - the exact framework I teach inside our Sell From Stage Elite program to help coaches, course creators, and experts finally get clear on who they serve and what they do. I walk through the four biggest misbeliefs keeping you stuck in "I help everyone" land, why generic messaging attracts zero interest, and how to squeeze your niche tight without accidentally strangling your business. What you'll learn: → The Niche Making Model: Person, Problem, Promise, Mechanism (the four parts of a strong niche) → Misbelief 1: "If I narrow my niche, I'll miss out on potential clients" (this is backwards - here's why) → Misbelief 2: "I can solve so many problems, I don't want to limit myself" (lead with ONE, help with more later) → Misbelief 3: "Narrowing my niche will restrict how much money I can make" (99.9% of the time, going narrow makes you MORE money) → Misbelief 4: "I don't want to choose the wrong niche" (don't marry the niche - date it) → The Niche Narrower Model: How to go from broad-broad to narrow-medium (with real examples) → Why "executive moms" beats "working moms" and "female doctors only" beats "health coaching for women" → The avatar upgrade: Time over money wins every time Real examples from the episode: How one personal trainer niched from "health coaching" to "female doctors only" and his business exploded Why "busy moms growing their career" (broad-broad) becomes "executive moms with kids getting promoted in finance" (narrow-medium) How I went from generic leadership coaching to "get clients every time you speak" and tripled my business   Learn more: Interested in learning how to package and sell high-ticket one-on-one offers? How to Actually Use AI in Your Business (Without the BS) w/ Rick Mulready

99% of AI use is making you less efficient, not more. You open ChatGPT and ask "What are some things I can do with AI for my business?" Then you spend three hours going down rabbit holes, testing random prompts, and convincing yourself you're being productive. You're not. You're procrastinating with a fancy tool. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I sit down with Rick Mulready, an AI expert who shut down a million-dollar mastermind three years ago to go all-in on AI for online business owners. Rick breaks down the biggest mistake people make with AI - coming without a use case and asking what's possible instead of solving a specific problem. We talk about why AI without a clear problem to solve is just expensive distraction, the difference between AI assistants (that answer questions) and AI agents (that actually do the work), and how to stop burning time pretending busy work with AI is actual leverage. Rick shares how his wife Amy gets better output from Claude than most developers - just by talking to it like a human and clearly articulating what she wants. He also reveals why most coaching chatbots are useless (just course material dumped into AI) versus ones that actually adapt and coach. You'll discover: Why asking "what can I do with AI?" is the fastest way to waste three hours How to come to AI with a use case and problem instead of exploring possibilities The difference between AI assistants and AI agents - and why agents are where the real business leverage lives How to get amazing AI output without fancy prompts (just clearly articulate what you want) What makes a coaching chatbot actually valuable vs. regurgitating course content This conversation isn't about AI tips and tricks. It's about using AI efficiently - knowing the problem you're solving before you ever open the tool, building systems that do real work instead of just helping you think about work, and avoiding the rabbit holes that make you feel productive while accomplishing nothing. If you've been using AI and feeling like it's not saving you time - or worse, it's creating more work - this episode will show you what you're doing wrong.   Connect with Rick Mulready: Mine and Ricks favorite speak to text Ai tool: Wispr flow YouTube Channel: Search "Rick Mulready" for AI use cases specifically for online business owners or Click Here to go to his channel AI Playbook Community: Rick's membership community where he built the "Zone of Genius" app - an AI team that handles the 80% work so you can focus on your 20%   Learn more: Interested in learning how to package and sell high-ticket one-on-one offers? Psychology of a Personal Brand

Your course isn't the problem. Your offer isn't broken. Your pricing isn't off. The problem is simpler - and harder to hear: People don't buy courses. They buy coaches. In this solo episode of The Expert Edge, I break down the psychology of building a personal brand that actually sells. Six months ago, I launched a high-level mastermind. Almost every person who got on a call with me said the same thing: "I'm not here because of the program. I'm here because of you." That was a massive reminder: They don't buy coaching programs. They buy coaches. They don't buy masterminds. They buy coaches. If you've been wondering why your offers aren't selling, it's probably not the offer. It's how you're perceived through the sales process. You are the product. And if you don't realize that, you're missing something huge when it comes to running a coaching business. I walk through four core principles of building a personal brand that attracts people to YOU, not just your stuff: Amplify your quirks - Why vanilla doesn't sell and how to become a purple cow instead of a brown one Take a stand on a value - What you stand FOR and what you stand AGAINST (and why people pop when they do this) Elevate your aesthetics - Why fonts have feelings, blue sky makes videos pop, and cohesive branding matters more than you think Build credibility that stacks - From personal results to character endorsements to celebrity testimonials This episode isn't about creating a fake persona or manufacturing authenticity. It's about understanding that in the expert industry, people buy coaches, not courses. Your quirks, your values, your aesthetics, your credibility - that's what makes people want to work with YOU. The course is just the vehicle. You're the engine. If your offers have been sitting there not selling and you keep thinking it's a positioning problem or a pricing problem... it's probably a personal brand problem.   Learn more: Interested in learning how to package and sell high-ticket one-on-one offers? Selling High Ticket 1-1 Stuff

The coaching industry loves to tell you to stop doing one-on-one work. Scale up. Build leverage. Get out of trading time for money. And they're right. Sort of. But here's what they're not telling you: dismissing high-ticket one-on-one completely is leaving $300K-$400K on the table while simultaneously losing your edge in understanding what your market actually needs. In this solo episode of The Expert Edge, I break down why I've had one-on-one clients for 17 straight years - and why I made $400,000 last year working with just three people at a time. Not three hundred. Not thirty. Three. This isn't about abandoning scalable offers or building your entire business on one-on-one coaching. It's about understanding that in a world where AI is making information feel commoditized, your personhood is becoming more valuable, not less. Companies are already creating tiered customer service where you pay extra just to talk to a real human instead of a bot. I walk through the five key principles of selling high-ticket one-on-one: Why one-on-one keeps you sharp and makes everything else you create better (courses, content, group offers) How AI is making human interaction, accountability, and community premium-priced services Why you must charge for the result, not the hour (and how to position transformation over time) The "fruit salad vs. apple" packaging strategy that lets you charge $5K-$10K+ instead of pricing per session How to create scarcity, authority, and resistance so clients audition to work with you (not the other way around) This episode isn't about going back to only doing one-on-one. It's about adding a high-value engine to your business that keeps you connected to your market, generates significant revenue, and requires almost no infrastructure. If you've been told one-on-one isn't scalable or isn't worth your time, this conversation will show you what you've been missing. The 4 Patterns Of Growth

You know how to create success. You're already doing it in at least one area of your life. The question isn't whether you can build mastery - it's why you're not applying it everywhere. In this solo episode of The Expert Edge, I break down a four-level framework that shows you exactly where you're running mastery patterns and where you're running dabbling patterns. This is a life coaching model I learned 18 years ago that I recently shared with my Inner Circle clients (experts doing $300K+/year) and my Elite coaching group - and it's one of the most powerful growth models I've ever come across. Most experts have mastery patterns running in one area and dabbling patterns destroying another. Crushing it in business, health is a disaster. Amazing relationship, business is stalled. Built a beautiful family, bank account is embarrassing. And the wild part? The same framework that creates success in one area works in every other area. You just have to apply it. You'll discover: Why comfort doesn't create comfort - and how being comfortable with discomfort is the real unlock The exact pattern that separates mastery from dabbling (and how to shift from one to the other) Why you end up in Level Four when you keep choosing Level Three escapes How to identify which areas of your life are running mastery vs. dabbling patterns Why the people at the highest levels are willing to do what's uncomfortable to create what they actually want This episode isn't about learning something new. It's about recognizing the patterns you're already running and deciding which ones you want to keep. If you're not creating the results you want in an area of your life, you're probably running a dabbling pattern there. Time to shift it.   Interested in working with me directly to scale your Expert business? Secrets Behind Profitable Paid Traffic w/ Kerry Egeler

Month one looks great. Month two looks even better. Then month three hits and your revenue drops by 60%. What just happened? Your organic audience ran out of people. That's what happened. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I sit down with Kerry Egeler, a veteran in the expert space who's been running paid ads for nearly a decade across e-commerce and coaching businesses. Kerry breaks down the hard truth most coaches don't want to hear: you can't scale a business on organic content alone. You're capped by how much you can create and how much the algorithm decides to show it. We talk about when to actually start running paid ads (hint: not on day one), why cold traffic becomes your biggest asset over time, and how to handle the inevitable haters that show up when you start paying for attention. Kerry also shares why some of the most successful experts watch their webinar get attended three times before someone buys - and why that's not a problem, it's the strategy. You'll discover: Why you need proof before you add paid ads (and what "proof" actually means) How cold traffic compounds into warm audiences that eventually convert—and why most people quit too early Why your organic audience can't keep up with your revenue goals (it's just math) The mindset shift from letting data decide vs. letting one angry comment shut you down Why negative comments are actually the cleanest indicator you're reaching new people This episode isn't about abandoning organic content. It's about understanding that hope isn't a growth strategy. If you're doing $5K-$10K/month and wondering how to break through to the next level, this conversation will show you the lever you've been avoiding. If you've been stuck at the same revenue ceiling month after month while the algorithm plays games with your reach... this episode is for you.
