    04/20 Lockdown (feat. Luke Evans)

Remember the beginning of COVID where you were furiously scrubbing away at your groceries and Lysol was more expensive than gold? We do.  In what is very much a time capsule episode (this was recorded at the beginning of the first worldwide lockdown in April 2020), Dave, Phivos and Benet are joined by friend of the show, actor, singer, and dragon-slayer Luke Evans. They chat about coping tools, meditation, success, pressure and (inevitably) how unprepared everyone felt for a lockdown. You down with OCD (Yeah You Know Me!)

Dave & Phivos are back, this time to dive into some of their obsessive-compulsive thoughts and behaviors with friend and therapist Benet. Dave shares what drives the compulsions he has and has had throughout his life. They look at the sliding scale of OCD, some of the unhelpful and (who would’ve thought) helpful ways that it manifests, as well as different treatment options that are available. But most importantly, they answer the eternal question: ‘How can Dave eat ass, but not wear a clean sock that’s been dropped on the floor?’ ------------------------------------------- ABOUT US: INSTAGRAM | PATREON | CONTACT ------------------------------------------- TOPICS: 01:53 - Why Dave is a “Slipper Person” now05:19 - OCD and Hollywood06:48 - Defining “obsessions” and “compulsions”07:24 - Why Dave’s dad spent so much on video game controllers11:00 - Overcooked chicken isn’t the answer27:10 - “I’m a little OCD”36:29 - How do you help someone with OCD?42:28 - “They fuck you up, your mum and dad”54:20 - Medication and treatment------------------------------------------- MORE INFO: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder | Psychology TodayAs Good As It GetsObsessive Thoughts: A Darker Side of OCD - Olivia Loving | The AtlanticI’ve spent years taming the OCD monster - Matthew Cantor | The Guardian------------------------------------------- Music: Narcy - Website | Instagram | Twitter Opening Credits: Narcy - Superhero (Instrumental) | Produced by Sandhill Closing Credits: Narcy - Free (One Day) | Produced by Narcy

    Panic-ception

A panic attack is like a giant wave coming at you. You can’t stop the wave, you can’t punch it, you can’t kick it, but you know it will pass. Knowing that it is going to come and go is the key to riding it out. Dave, Phivos, and Ben return, this time discussing something they are both very familiar with, ‘Panic Attacks’. A lot more common than you might imagine, Ben listens as our hosts reveal how having them regularly affected their lives, from Phivos walking for miles to avoid the subway, to Dave wondering if his barber is actually going to murder him. All this and how dry humping is cool (if you’re into that kind of thing).  ------------------------------------------- ABOUT US: INSTAGRAM | PATREON | CONTACT ------------------------------------------- TOPICS: 05:48 - Sabretooth tigers and job interviews07:18 - Are panic attacks a good thing?08:49 - Cardiologists are not funny11:45 - “C**t”14:14 - Definition of a panic attack16:46 - Panic-ception19:00 - What if my barber is Sweeney Todd?22:05 - Isn’t everything a possibility?40:51 - It’s gonna be OK------------------------------------------- MORE INFO: Panic Attacks - Psychology TodayHow To Manage Panic Attacks - Charles Schaeffer, Ph.D. | Psychology TodaySurviving Anxiety - Scott Stossel | The Atlantic (January 2014)------------------------------------------- MUSIC: Narcy - Website | Instagram | Twitter Opening Credits: Narcy - Superhero (Instrumental) | Produced by Sandhill Closing Credits: Narcy - Free (One Day) | Produced by Narcy

    Introducing...

Dave & Phivos overcome their procrastination and FINALLY start their podcast. Guided by their friend and practicing therapist Benet, join them as they wander through the world of mental health, on a vulnerable, honest (often shameless) journey to be better.  In this introductory episode, the hosts share a bit about their backgrounds, daily anxiety struggles and compulsions they experience, while Benet does his best to make sense out of all this. Amongst many things they explore ‘why a jacket can be more than just a jacket’, and ‘why Dave’s socks sometimes make him go soft’. ------------------------------------------- ABOUT US: INSTAGRAM | PATREON | CONTACT ------------------------------------------- TOPICS: 03:24 - Thinking of seeing a therapist?09:13 - Does anyone care?09:56 - Phivos gets a pep talk10:57 - Is it ok to call people crazy?16:31 - Why Dave & Phivos have the cleanest apartment21:50 - Twitter Feedback36:04 - Sometimes, it’s not really about the jacket47:00 - Dave & the barista------------------------------------------- FURTHER READING: Imposter Syndrome - WikipediaImposter Syndrome - Psychology Today'What If' TreeTED Ed Talk - What Is Imposter Syndrome & How Can You Combat It?The Confidence Gap - The Atlantic (May 2014)------------------------------------------- MUSIC: Narcy - Website | Instagram | Twitter Opening Credits: Narcy - Superhero (Instrumental) | Produced by Sandhill Closing Credits: Narcy - Free (One Day) | Produced by Narcy
