My favorite Jane Austen podcast

I binged all the episodes of this podcast in about a month, and I saw myself approaching the last episode with dread because I enjoyed listening to it everyday so much!

I absolutely love how this podcast takes a deep dive into the objects and the culture of Jane Austen’s time. Who knew that the history of umbrellas could be so fascinating? And I learned so much about the Roma from the last episode.

Zan and Diane are such a delight to listen to! I’ve only read Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility so far, but because of this podcast I’m now reading Mansfield Park and looking forward to the parts they’ve discussed in their episodes. And when I watched the 1999 Mansfield Park movie, I got such a kick out of watching Edmund prepare the paper and quill for Fanny after listening to the episode about quills. This podcast really increases my enjoyment of all things Austen!

I eagerly look forward to each new episode. If I may make a request, are you planning to talking about cousin romances being totally normal in Austen’s time? I found it so strange that Fanny and Edmund are FIRST cousins, and when I Googled it all the articles I wanted to read were behind a paywall. 🫤

Thank you to Zan and Diane for producing this amazing podcast!
