40 Years in Healthcare: Patty Glick's Story

Every once in a while, you meet someone who spent their whole life caring for others and somehow is just getting started. Meet Patty Glick, a nurse practitioner with more than four decades in healthcare. She's seen the very best of what medicine can do, and the limits of it. Instead of slowing down, she got curious and started asking a bigger question: what if people have more power over their own health, growth, and future than they've ever been told? In this conversation we talk about why she chose nursing over medical school, building a private practice from the ground up, the two patient stories that shaped how she practices medicine, why being your own advocate matters more than ever, and her transition from 25 years in women's health to regenerative wellness today. 00:00 – Meet Patty Glick 01:02 – Who is Patty Glick, beyond her career 02:21 – Why she chose nursing over medical school 04:10 – Over four decades in healthcare 06:15 – What kept her going: finding your "why" 08:20 – Two patient stories that changed her 12:00 – Be your own advocate 14:34 – Why she chose women's health 16:02 – Navigating the limits of traditional healthcare 23:44 – Building a private practice from scratch 29:44 – Advice for anyone feeling stuck 36:15 – What she hopes people remember about her 37:45 – How to connect with PattyThis is part of our ongoing series here at Solux Health Studios, where we sit down with nurses, physicians, and healthcare professionals for honest, real conversations about the work.If this conversation resonated with you, whether you're a nurse, a healthcare provider, or just someone thinking about a change, share it with someone who needs to hear it. An Oncology Nurse's Honest Story: Meet Riley

You've met Olivia. Today, meet Riley, an oncology nurse who moved 1,000 miles from Ohio to the Treasure Coast for a completely new life. In this conversation we talk about what drew her into oncology nursing after watching family members go through cancer, the transition from a large specialized cancer hospital in Columbus to a smaller hospital in Florida, what it's really like moving from tech to nurse, why techs and CNAs deserve far more credit than they get, and the emotional weight of caring for hospice patients on an oncology floor. A Nurse's Story: Meet Olivia Ferrerio

I trained a new nurse a while back who turned out to be one of the sharpest, most compassionate nurses I've ever worked alongside. She's also a twin, and she's a little person. But more than any of that, she is simply a great nurse. I asked Olivia to sit down with me and share her story in her own words, because I think you're going to love her as much as I do. In this episode we talk about her journey into nursing, what nursing school was actually like, the reality of switching from night shift to day shift, navigating a fast-paced career as a little person, dealing with imposter syndrome as a new nurse, and what she believes actually makes someone a great nurse. Timestamps 00:00 – Meet Olivia 01:29 – Why she became a nurse 05:26 – What nursing school was really like 06:27 – Being a twin (and getting mixed up at work) 08:10 – Being a little person in a fast-paced career 14:05 – Advice for new nurses 16:36 – Switching from night shift to day shift 18:46 – Her morning routine and why she shows up early 27:02 – What actually makes a great nurse 34:22 – Nursing and imposter syndrome 38:58 – Final thoughts This is part of Conversations with Pierre, a series from Solux Health Studios where we sit down with nurses, physicians, and healthcare professionals to talk about the real side of healthcare.
