22 - Perfectly Unfolding: Trusting Your Heart When Life Doesn't Go as Planned

What if you stopped trying to figure out exactly how your life is supposed to look and started trusting what your heart is telling you? My conversation with Kristy Halvorsen took us everywhere from living in an Airstream for 9 years, and letting go of labels to learning how to cry, caring for her mom, and discovering that sometimes the hardest decisions are already decided for you if you listen to your heart.  We talk about following those little nudges, which she calls “tickles of the soul”, releasing expectations, and trusting that life can unfold in ways we never imagined. Our conversation and her book, Perfectly Unfolding are beautiful reminders that we don't have to have it all figured out to take the next step. About Kristy, and where to get her book If "normal" is a way of being, Kristy Halvorsen is not that. In 2017, she sold everything, left her firefighting career, and hit the road in her Airstream trailer. For nearly nine years, she has migrated with the seasons, often with no idea where she's headed next. In addition to being a nomadic world traveler, she is a mentor, coach, and bestselling author of Perfect Unfolding: Seven Years of Life-Changing Solo Adventure, One Year That Broke Me Open, a vulnerable, deeply human account of what’s possible when you live in curiosity and wonder, embrace the unknown, and trust life while waking up to the simplicity and freedom available to us all.  Website: PerfectUnfolding.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kristy.halvorsen/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/kristy-halvorsen/ Facebook: www.facebook.com/1kristy   Goodreads: www.goodreads.com/book/show/241413488-perfect-unfolding About the Podcast Evolving Together is a space for candid conversations about all the messy things happening in midlife — relationships, identity shifts, parenting, grief, health, purpose, reinvention, and everything in between. 21 - The Truth About Finding “The One” and Spilling Tea With Jaimee Dorris

Dating, divorce, marriage & a very questionable boat picture could have been the title for this one as Jaimee Dorris and I discuss how to properly pick a spouse. Well, properly according to two women who’ve both been married twice.  Throughout the conversation, Jaimee is taking notes, but not from MY advice! Nope! She is putting together a must have checklist for someone wanting to get the best partner for themselves.  Along the way, we share plenty of stories about our own marriages, including some questionable dating-app profile pictures, second marriages, friends who gave their stamp of approval, and the realization that love isn't just something you feel. It's something you do. In the end, maybe it’s less about finding the “right” person, and more about making the relationship right. Weigh in…what would be on YOUR checklist?  Find and Follow Jaimee in all these places - Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/jaimeeedorris/ Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/jaimeeedorris/ Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/discover/jaimee-dorris Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/jaimeedorris Website:  https://jaimee.tv/ Read Gulf Coast Woman Magazine where she shares the advice we talked about today! https://www.gcwmultimedia.com/when-to-get-married/  About Jaimee Dorris Jaimee Dorris is a TV personality, creative producer, and storyteller with over 20 years of experience helping people and businesses stand out. She creates authentic, magnetic, and joy-filled content. She began her career as a news reporter for WLOX-TV, covering Hurricane Katrina, before launching her own web design and marketing studio — Jaimee Designs Web Studio — in 2007. In 2019, she created her own TV show—MS Congeniality TV—a lively talk show that celebrated bold people and ideas across the South. The show aired on WXXV-TV in Gulfport and WGNO-TV in New Orleans. In 2022, she returned to the WLOX-TV anchor desk, infusing Good Morning Mississippi with viral dance videos and a fresh energy that redefined the station’s local image. Named “Miss Issippi” for the state’s bicentennial in 2017 and crowned Mrs. Mississippi American 2020, Jaimee has spent her career blending creativity, confidence, and fun. Today, Jaimee focuses on content creation and personal branding, helping clients amplify their voices and show up with brilliance—online and off. 20 - When the Blended Family includes Adult Kids Living at Home with BFF Susan

What happens to family dynamics when your kids are grown, but they’re still living at home - AND you’ve remarried? Susan, my BFF of 35+ years, and I continue our conversation from Episode 5 about adult children living at home. But, this time, we get honest about the unique challenges of blended families like adult privacy, sex, overnight guests, and rules all while living under the same roof.  Every family, and every kid, even if they are grown, is different. Sometimes evolving together means figuring out what works for your family instead of worrying about what everyone else thinks you should be doing. There’s no one right way to do this and we are figuring it out in real time, sharing with you.  About the Podcast Evolving Together is a space for candid conversations about all the messy things happening in midlife — relationships, identity shifts, parenting, grief, health, purpose, reinvention, and everything in between. 19 - Watching Loved Ones Fade - The Grief, Struggle and Joy in Caregiving with Tracy Daniel-Hardy

Caregiving is one of those things many of us see happening around us, but we don't really understand the full weight of it until we're in it ourselves. In Episode 19, I'm joined by Dr. Tracy Daniel-Hardy, author of The Adventures of Butch and Ruby: Chronicles of a Caregiver, to talk about what it really means to care for aging parents, especially when dementia enters the picture.  We talk about the emotional weight of caregiving, protecting our parents' dignity while still keeping them safe, encouraging independence without expecting more than they are capable of, and learning to communicate in ways that help rather than take over. We also talk about the grief that happens while someone is still here, the loss of the parent we once knew, and how hard it can be to watch someone you love slowly lose pieces of themselves. While the journey for the caregiver is incredibly difficult, Tracy shares how she’s managed to bring humor and laughter throughout the daily challenges, but also how stepping away to regroup is essential for showing up in a positive light for her parents.   If you're caring for a parent, partner, grandparent, or another loved one, this is a reminder that there is no perfect. There is only making the best choices we can at any given time. I also hope this conversation helps you feel a little less alone. Let’s keep evolving together. 18 - When the Baby Never Comes: Finding Your Way in the Life You Didn’t Plan With Ashley Anderson

Sometimes you can want something desperately, do everything you possibly can to make it happen, and still not get the ending you hoped for. That's where my conversation with Ashley Anderson begins. Ashley spent years trying to have a baby, navigating infertility, endometriosis, surgeries, fertility treatments and all of the emotional and financial exhaustion that comes with it. Eventually, she and her husband had to ask a really difficult question: How much more are we willing to do? Ashley doesn't pretend she isn't sad about not having children. She is. But she has also learned that she can grieve what she didn't get while being genuinely happy with the life she has. We talk about infertility, marriage, money, health, the pressure women feel to have children, the incredibly insensitive things people sometimes say, and what it looks like to create a meaningful life when it doesn't look like the one you imagined. As Ashley says, "Your book has more chapters left in it."  About Ashley Anderson Ashley owns Functional Fitness of Pass Christian, Mississippi. She is a personal trainer turned coach, where the focus isn't just on the gym, it's building a lifestyle of health.  Using fitness and practical lifestyle coaching, her and her team help athletes (of all ages) live pain-free, unstoppable lives.  Ashley holds a degree in Movement & Sports Science from Purdue and puts a focus on healing the gastrointestinal system (your gut/microbiome) and balancing hormones. She’s also currently participating in the Active Life Professional mentorship program.  Get in touch with Ashley Anderson Functional Fitness Pass Christian 228-900-9917 or coach@ffpasschristian.com  https://www.facebook.com/share/19Gv7UYBx2/?mibextid=wwXIfr https://www.instagram.com/ashley_ffpc/ https://www.instagram.com/functionalfitness_pc/ About the Podcast Evolving Together is a space for candid conversations about all the messy things happening in midlife — relationships, identity shifts, parenting, grief, health, purpose, reinvention, and everything in between. Divorce, Sobriety, Religion and Coming Out as an Adult With Katie Mason

Katie Mason is back for this bonus episode, and this time she's sharing how her bumpy personal journey has actually made her a BETTER therapist. We talk about how she grew up with very specific ideas about who she was supposed to be. Sound familiar? After two marriages and divorces, sobriety, coming out as an adult, and eventually learning to stop trying to fit herself into someone else's version of who she should be, she is more at peace now than ever. What I really loved about this conversation is the reminder that healing isn't linear. Sometimes we take a few steps forward, a few sideways, and occasionally a giant step backward before we realize we're actually moving exactly where we need to go. Katie and I also talk about trusting your intuition, learning to distinguish anxiety from that deeper sense of knowing, and what can happen when you finally give yourself permission to be exactly who you are. And maybe most importantly, you already know more than you think you do. Sometimes you just have to get quiet enough to hear yourself. 17 - Are You Living in Fight or Flight Without Even Knowing It? With Katie Mason

In this episode, I’m talking with Katie Mason, a licensed professional counselor and holistic health practitioner, about something I think so many of us need to understand better: our nervous system. Katie explains biofeedback, how it can help us become more aware of what’s happening in our bodies, and why learning to regulate those physical responses can be such a powerful part of healing. We also talk about trauma, chronic stress, burnout, and that uncomfortable realization that sometimes what feels “normal” to us isn’t actually calm or necessarily healthy at all. And if you’ve ever wondered why knowing what you should do isn’t always enough to actually feel better, you’ll want to hear this conversation. We get into the science, the mind body connection, and how biofeedback can give you another tool for reclaiming a sense of control over your own body.
