In 1993, Pettit was hired and began his career with Joplin Schools as a journeyman carpenter. Since that time, he has held five additional titles including Lead Carpenter, Supervisor of Craftsmen, Asst. Director of Buildings, Grounds and Transportation, Director of Transportation, and his current title of Director of Facilities. Pettit’s varied background of 32 years in the District has equipped him well and presented some great opportunities as he oversees the upkeep of 1.8 million square feet, 300 acres, 7800 students, and 1200 staff. He is responsible for the custodial staff, maintenance department, and all construction projects. Pettit’s philosophy is to teach teamwork and a high level of responsibility as they clean, maintain, and improve the facilities and grounds for our students, staff, and patrons. Thanks for listening.
