Across four tracks, Maddin channels the energy of live improvisation straight into hardware, capturing each take in the moment before refining the best parts himself and passing them on to mastering engineer Matthias Heinstein for the final polish. The result is a tightly focused, floor-ready record: deep, cavernous basslines, raw drum programming, and a sound firmly rooted in the spirit of original Chicago house while remaining fully present in today’s underground. Since 2012, FRAG MADDIN has been active internationally, releasing on respected labels such as Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records, DVS1’s Mistress Recordings, Glasgow Underground, and Snatch! Records. As an artist, he moves fluidly between groove, experimentation, and cross-genre expression — something that also shines through in his projects BERUS and FMN. A standout moment on the EP is “Excuse Me,” on which Maddin provides his own vocals — unfiltered, direct, and perfectly placed in the mix.

    Deeper House Podcast #56 - Svensøn

    Svenja aka SVENSØN was born into a musical family at the end of the 1980s in the border triangle of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium and was therefore practically born with a love of music. Influenced by a wide variety of genres from different eras, she has developed a very wide-ranging taste in music, which has matured over the years as a DJ into a very multifaceted, yet clearly focused style. SVENSØN has a good feel for the vibes of the audience, but also a very precise idea of which of the mostly very groovy, house and disco-influenced sounds she wants to electrify people on the dance floor and make them happy. In addition to her resident clubs in the border triangle, she also succeeds in doing this in Belgium at the NoName Festival and at Kultur A as well as in many places in the West and East, North and South. Some highlights were certainly the capital city clubs Sisyphos and Riter Butzke and the festival Berlin Beats & Boats, the Muna in Bad Klosterlausnitz, the Westhafen in Leipzig or Rave on Snow in Austria, as well as many other great clubs and festivals. SVENSØN never gets tired and is sure to keep people happy with their sound for a long time to come.

    This recording captures a special night at Giselle Bar, featuring SE62 from Ghent — known for releases on Slapfunk, MLIU and Raw Soul, and former resident of the legendary Closer Club in Kyiv — alongside Patraik, DJ and RAW SOUL label manager from Düsseldorf. The duo delivered a beautifully paced set across vinyl and digital, starting slow and patient, the way a proper warm-up should be. Gradually, the energy built up, layer by layer, telling a story that unfolded naturally over the course of the night. As the intensity grew, so did the connection on the dancefloor. You could feel it: a real buzz in the room, tension in the air, and an undeniable desire to dance. People were locked in, sharing the moment together — exactly what house music is about. No barriers, no labels, just everyone in the room moving as one. A night to remember. A set that deserves to be repeated.

    Deeper House Podcast #54 - liminal.traces

    Liminal.traces: a duo - two friends - mixing music with passion since 2018. It all started with our tradition to mix a set just for fun and the mood before going out to dance to electronic music through the night in Cologne and Düsseldorf. We immediately felt attracted to the sound of the underground. In the early 2020s we made experiences on open air events as part of a collective in cologne and started to mix music not only for ourselves, but also for an audience of both dancers and music enthusiasts. During that time we developed a focus on sound, which is moving liminal between deep, dub, detroit and minimal. While moving between these styles, we are appreciating both house music and techno and rely great importance on good and quality sound and its traces to the underground. Our own traces lay between CGN and DUS so naturally we feel connected to both cities and the region nearby like Wuppertal and the infamous Ruhrpott.
