Playing With Power: A Mature, Unofficial Nintendo Power Retrospective Podcast

You guys are doing such a great job with the show. Finally there is a show that is talking about what really matters in this world. Your show is bringing back so many fond memories of different games keep up the great work guys. I totally recommend the show to everyone!

I was really geeked for this podcast when I learned about it, but I’m disappointed by the execution. These guys don’t really have sufficient knowledge of the system’s history or library to make their discussions interesting. Too often, they make wrong assertions or hypothesize about answers to questions that more well-read Nintendo fans would already know, but never actually look them up to answer them. And they don’t seem to do much prep before each issue. Prior to reviewing an issue, you’d think maybe they’d try to play a few minutes of the cover-featured games, or do a little more reasearch about things featured in the issue so that maybe they can add some additional background knowledge to the discussion. But they don’t do either of these things. In summary: This is 2 or 3 non-expert fans stepping through NP issues and cracking off-color jokes. If their humor is on your wavelength, you might like it. If you’re looking to learn history or trivia about Nintendo or its games, you may be disappointed.

Not going to lie, when I stumbled across this show I thought, "Talking about Nintendo Power? Hmm I don't know..." But as it turns out the show is engaging and interesting to listen to. If you grew up on Nintendo this show is a must listen.

In a world where retro gaming podcasts are a dime a dozen, this one stands apart. If you've ever read a Nintendo Power, give it a listen
