How Do We Know Which Religion Is True, and Who Is Melchizedek?

A listener named Diane asks the question so many people wrestle with: how did we end up with so many religions in the world, and how do you know which one, if any, is actually right? Pastor Scott Thom walks through why truth isn't just a personal preference, why contradictory religions can't all be true at once, and how logic alone narrows the field down to a personal, eternal Creator, before making the case for the Bible's own unique reliability among world religious texts. Three callers bring their own Bible questions: Bill asks why King Solomon reacted so strongly to a request tied to one of his father's concubines in 1 Kings 2, Carol wants to know who Melchizedek really was in Hebrews 7, and Tom asks whether the mysterious "angel of the Lord" who keeps appearing throughout the Old Testament is actually Jesus Christ Himself before His birth in Bethlehem.   Cross Fellowship is a Bible teaching church home in Albuquerque. Most believers freeze up in that moment, not because they don't have faith, but because no one ever walked them through how to think it through. CCF Bible College (CCFcollege.com) exists to close that gap: self-paced, affordable training you can start anytime, including Shepherd School, a two-year program for anyone pursuing pastoral and full-time ministry roles. Pastor Scott will personally walk you through the next step if you qualify. The Believer's Crowns, and Who Really Goes to Hell?

Continuing the series on the judgments still to come, Pastor Scott Thom teaches on the judgment of the believer, the Bema Seat, and the four crowns Scripture promises for faithful service: the crown of rejoicing, the crown of righteousness, the crown of life, and the crown of glory. A listener named Steve asks the question so many are wondering right now: with wars, unrest, and disasters in the headlines, why aren't more pastors teaching on the end times? And in one of the most personal calls this show has taken, a caller named Linda, a police officer for ten years who lost her son to suicide, asks Pastor Scott directly: who actually goes to hell? Is it only about accepting Christ, or does mental illness and addiction change the answer? Pastor Scott walks through accountability, God's mercy, and what Scripture does and doesn't say about suicide.   Cross Fellowship is a Bible-teaching church home in Albuquerque. The Judgment of the Believer, and Do We Forfeit Our Inheritance?

Pastor Scott Thom kicks off a new teaching series on the five judgments yet to come - the judgment of the believer, the nations, Israel, the unsaved, and the fallen angels - starting this week with a deep dive into the judgment of the believer. He walks through why a Christian is never judged for sin (it was already judged at the cross), what self-judgment and sanctification actually look like, and what the Bema Seat judgment of rewards is really about. A caller named Naomi asks the question so many believers wrestle with: can we forfeit rewards or inheritance through sin, or does backsliding put our salvation itself in question? Pastor Scott also answers a listener's question about whether "Hard Sayings of the Bible" and the "When Skeptics/Critics/Cultists Ask" series are solid apologetics resources to hand a friend - and closes the show with a clear, simple picture of the gospel and an invitation to know Christ.   Cross Fellowship is a Bible-teaching church home in Albuquerque - learn more and plan a visit at CrossFellowship.org.   Ever sense God stirring something in you about ministry, but aren't sure what to do next? Does Satan Know the Future? God's Jealousy, the Missing Books of the Bible, and Free Will in Eden

On this episode of No Other Doctrine, Pastor Scott Thom opens with a question he's asked often: how much does Satan actually know about the future? Walking through Job chapter 1 and Jesus' temptation in Luke 4, he shows that Satan can observe the spiritual realm but can't predict God's plans with any certainty — and Scripture proves it, since Satan's one recorded prediction about Job never came true. From there, Pastor Scott revisits a question a student asked during a visit to a local high school's Christian club: is God really jealous, and if so, what does that mean? He unpacks the biblical sense of jealousy as a selfless, protective love rather than human insecurity — God wants what's best for us, not control over us.   A caller then asks about the extra books found in Catholic Bibles but not in Protestant ones. Pastor Scott explains why books like Maccabees and Judith were excluded from the canon — historical and doctrinal errors, a lack of prophetic authority, and no recognition from Jesus, the apostles, or the early church fathers — and how doctrines like purgatory and indulgences shaped which books the Catholic Church later added. The episode closes with a listener's question about free will: if God is all-knowing, why did He allow Satan to tempt Adam and Eve in the first place? Pastor Scott traces the answer back to what makes love and relationship with God genuinely real.   Cross Christian Fellowship exists to help people know God's Word and grow in their faith. Understanding Prophecy: How to Rightly Interpret What God Has Spoken

In this episode of No Other Doctrine, Pastor Scott Thom tackles one of the most misunderstood areas of Scripture: prophecy. Rather than jumping straight to end-times predictions, Pastor Thom lays the groundwork first, walking through the historical-grammatical method for interpreting prophetic and symbolic language, and showing how Jesus Himself modeled sound, consistent interpretation in the Gospels. He explains the different ways God has spoken to His people throughout Scripture, from dreams and visions to types, symbols, and direct appearances, and how to test whether something claiming to be prophecy is genuinely from God. The episode closes with two powerful examples of dual prophecy, showing how God can speak a single word that finds fulfillment in two distinct, increasingly miraculous ways throughout redemptive history, culminating in Christ.   Cross Christian Fellowship exists to help people know God's Word and grow in their faith. No Other Doctrine — Pastor Scott Thom

In this episode of No Other Doctrine, Pastor Scott Thom digs into biblical prophecy and how to interpret it rightly—walking through the literal (historical-grammatical) method versus the danger of "spiritualizing" Scripture and reading meanings into the text that aren't there. He unpacks how parables, types, and allegories work, using Jesus' parable of the Sower as a guide, and argues that Scripture itself gives us the tools to interpret it consistently. Two callers join the conversation this week. Lou asks what happens to us immediately after death — Pastor Scott walks through what the Bible says about the intermediate state, the first resurrection, and what to expect during the seven-year tribulation period before the return to earth. Maddie asks a question many believers wonder about: does God hate Satan? The answer turns into a deeper look at God's character, free will, and the nature of fallen angels. The episode closes with a striking point on fulfilled prophecy: the sheer number and precision of Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ — further evidence, Pastor Scott argues, that the Word of God is trustworthy from cover to cover.
