    What's Your Why? /// Summer on the Mount Pt. 5

    Matthew 6:1–18 challenges us to examine why we pursue God, reminding us that our faith should be rooted in a genuine desire to know and honor Him rather than impress others. Jesus calls us to lose the audience, letting go of the need for recognition and choosing to live for an audience of One. We are also invited to talk to God, not at God, approaching prayer as a genuine relationship and conversation with our Father rather than simply repeating words or going through religious motions. Finally, fasting is not simply about what we give up—it is about seeking God, drawing closer to Him, and allowing Him to transform our hearts.

    Restoration over Retaliation ///Summer on the Mount Pt.4

    Jesus teaches that fulfilling God's law goes beyond following rules and should transform how we live and treat others in everyday life. Matthew 5:33-37 challenges us to choose truth over comfort by being people whose "yes" and "no" can be trusted. We are also called to choose restoration over retaliation, breaking the cycle of revenge and pursuing peace when we are wronged. Jesus takes this even further by commanding us to choose love over hate, loving and praying for our enemies rather than responding with hostility. Ultimately, believers are called to live a counter-cultural life marked by truth, peace, love, and hospitality that reflects the character of God and welcomes others into His Kingdom.

    Jesus teaches that true righteousness comes from a transformed heart, not just outward obedience. He calls believers to reject sin's loopholes and love others as God does. Through His mercy, He changes us from the inside out.

    With a new life in Christ comes a new lifestyle! The old ways and thoughts are passed and all things are NEW! Be careful? Sometimes even with good intentions, we can start to think that our actions dictate our identity. Remember, our "who" changes our "do"!

    Jesus teaches that God's kingdom values humility, faith, and righteousness over worldly success and comfort. Jesus calls His followers to live with an eternal perspective, finding true blessing in Him rather than in wealth, power, or approval. Ultimately, the message reminds us to fully embrace God's Kingdom and trust His promises above all else.

    Where do you turn when even the daily tasks of life are too difficult to deal with? Sometimes, we lose sight of where true strength is found. Believers in Christ find supernatural strength through the power of the Holy Spirit. We can trust His plan even the life is difficult. Through these passages in Zechariah, we are reminded that God is still at work, building His people for His glory and purposes.

    In Luke 16, the parable of the dishonest manager warns against spiritual corruption, misplaced ambition, and the love of money. It challenges believers to pursue God's kingdom with the same intentionality that the world pursues temporary success, using their resources to bless others, build unity, and advance the gospel. Ultimately, the message calls Christians to faithfully steward everything God has entrusted to them, remembering that no one can serve both God and money.

    The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant teaches that forgiveness is not merely an occasional act but a way of life for those who follow Christ. Thought Jesus' parable in Matthew 18, we are challenged to extend the same mercy we've received from God, refusing to let bitterness and revenge shape our hearts. True freedom is found when we choose forgiveness, remembering that God's grace toward us is the foundation for how we treat others.
