The Lessons of History with Chris Cheng - GunFreedomRadio EP527

Our guest today is Chris Cheng. Chris is an American sports shooter, Second Amendment and diversity outreach advocate, and History Channel's Top Shot Season 4 Champion. He is also the author of the memoir and guide for beginning shooters book, Shoot to Win. And now, Chris has authored The Purple Heart Battalion, which tells the story of Japanese American soldiers of the 100th Battalion / 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II—men who fought with extraordinary courage for America while many of their own families were unjustly incarcerated back home. It’s a historical novel about love, honor, survival, and what it means to belong to a country that has not always fully believed you do. 1) Many people know you as a champion shooter and Second Amendment advocate. How did your journey evolve into writing a historical novel about one of the most remarkable military units in American history? 2) Give us an overview of The Purple Heart Battalion. What story are you telling, and why did you feel it needed to be told now? 3) Executive Order 9066 dramatically changed the lives of more than 100,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. Can you explain what it was and how it affected the families whose stories inspired your novel? 4) You intentionally use the term "incarceration camps" rather than the more familiar "internment camps." Why is that distinction important, and what does that language help us better understand about this chapter of American history? 5) Historical fiction has a unique ability to make history personal. What do you hope readers will learn about courage, citizenship, civil liberties, and the importance of preserving freedom from the story of the 100th Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team? 6) The legacy of these soldiers is one of extraordinary sacrifice despite extraordinary adversity. What can their story teach Americans today about unity, patriotism, and serving a nation even during times of division? 7) How do people follow you? Originally Aired 8.10.26

Good People Break Bad Laws with Topher Field - GunFreedomRadio EP521

Our guest today is Topher Field. Topher is one of Australia’s most recognized Libertarian political commentators and human rights advocates. He is the director of “Battleground Melbourne”, the multi-award-winning and internationally acclaimed documentary that exposed the human impact of Victoria’s lockdowns. And he is the author of “Good People Break Bad Laws”. 1) Your book is titled “Good People Break Bad Laws”. America’s Founders knew that – and over the years we’ve forgotten it. In today’s world, how do we know the difference between a law that deserves our obedience and one that deserves our resistance? 2) Your documentary Battleground Melbourne tells the story of ordinary citizens living through extraordinary government restrictions. What lessons should Americans take away from Australia's experience? 3) Around the world, we've seen governments invoke public safety to justify expanding their powers – and particularly where gun rights are concerned. How can free societies protect both public safety and individual liberty without sacrificing either? 4) Freedom can gradually disappear—and then suddenly all at once, all because of one compromise at a time. What warning signs should citizens be watching for today, and what practical steps can they take to preserve their liberties? 5) Who has inspired you in your world view and your strength? 6) How do people follow your work, watch Battleground Melbourne, and learn more about Good People Break Bad Laws?
