    Jordan Randall

Episode Six! Filmmaker, Musician, and co-host of The Dark Room Podcast Jordan Randall joins me to talk about judging a book by its cover and the commonality we all share of wanting to be needed. We talk about Jordan's personal journey of identity while engaging with fetishists, scam victims, and people who struggle with self harm, and if the shadows really do hide who we truly are. We also dive deep in to the Toronto-branded relationship between hip-hop and politics, and how #6Dad Norm Kelly has a lot more in common with artists than you'd think! Finally, we discuss how his show inadvertently became mixed up in Chinese war of political ideologies and the Falun Gong. This episode may contain subject matter that is not suitable for a work environment.  Listen to this episode on iTunes More info on Miss World Canada and The Falun Gong The Dark Room Interviews Norm Kelly The Dark Room on iTunes

    Steve Glynn

Episode Five! Hockey Blogger Steve Glynn (or Steve Dangle, if you prefer) joins me to talk about what it's like being a screaming nut job on the camera, being his own brand, the role of the social and digital sphere in his career as a broadcaster, what his original media aspirations were, and his relationship with the sport of hockey! We get a little Marshall McCluhan on your asses, while being fortune telling hippies about the technological disruption of the internet, and Steve gives away some TRADE SECRETS. (not that kind of trade, hockey fans.) Finally we talk about his eyebrows, what people expect of him, where he goes next, pressure, and... his love/hate relationship with suits?! Chris Cardines

Episode Four! Musician, Producer, Songwriter, and the sound of the Identities Podcast Chris Cardines joins me to talk artifice vs. substance in the hip hop scene, how said scene has shaped him, how old he feels coming up in a hip hop technology revolution - and why he left it all behind. This episode also contains THE longest opening question of all time, a discussion on the art of the sample and we pick up on the Artist vs. Progression debate from Episode Two and talk about some of the lowest points in Chris' artistic life. It's MUCH happier than it sounds! Check out 2NDDHAND's debut EP here: https://www.youtube.com/user/2NDDHAND

    Bhairavi Thanki

Episode Three! Bhairavi Thanki joins me mere days before relocating to Australia to discuss the impact that an impending move across the world has on one's identity. (Spoiler alert: it's big!) We talk about the psychology of making new friends, phasing out an accent, the difference between the culture tied to one's family and one of cultural heritage, and Berry shares with me two of the most beautiful identity forming moments from her past!  Oh - and we also Solve The Hipster Crisis. All this and more this week on Identities!

    Patrick Grant

Episode Two! Patrick Grant stopped by to talk all things music and identity, and it ended up being the most frantic dissection of culture I've ever been a part of.  Listen as we talk Springsteen as a Messianic Rock Star, drinking a bottle of vermouth when Bowie died, the ins and outs of the business of art, the responsibility musicians have to their fans and their colleagues, and the role art has in reflecting and replacing the memories of our lives! PLUS I try and defend artists rehashing the classics, accidentally diss Jimi Hendrix, and we disagree on the acting Roles Alan Alda is allowed to play! All this and a fake commercial break in Identites Episode Two. Patrick will be playing the Smiling Buddha in Toronto on February 20th! My whole life, people have been cramming this classic-rock crap down my throat. Think l give a shit about the Beatles? No offence, but today's music doesn't have a whole lot to say... you're gonna tell me that ''Purple Haze'' says something?
