Song Salad

I love this podcast it’s a silly and fun to listen to podcast that I used to listen to with my older sister while we did random crafts she found on Pinterest. She had cancer and it always felt extra special to get to spend time with her. Now I still listen too it. Thank you for the shoutout! I really appreciate it. (Also I’m non-binary not a she)

I have now listened to five of these episodes so far. They’re great. Pork Companion deserves a Grammy. Update: Still listening, however many years later, and this is still the one podcast that has me bursting out laughing every time I listen. My upstairs neighbors think I’m weird. This is totally Shannon and Scott’s fault. Safe travels to Paris, Shannon!Update to update: Still listening, years later. Still a bright spot in my day, every time a new episode drops. You’ve gotten me through a move from Vermont to Cleveland, where you introduced me to the gritty Cleveland Infants, and now you’re going to get me from Cleveland back home to Chicago. So many topics, so many genres. We need a retrospective album—Like Beatles 1. It’ll sell.

Song Salad brings me joy every time I listen. It's such a unique combination of music history and learning about facts big and small. It brings to life something I might think in my head ("what if I combined a random music genre with a purely random fact?"), but Shannon and Scott have the courage to do it.

So (A) these two are adorable, and (B) they make great songs from crazy subjects, and (C) I wasn’t sure how they’d fill 40 minutes, but they make it surprisingly interesting, explaining the song genre chosen well, with cool examples, and then dig into the random subject in an interesting way. And did I mention it’s hilarious?
