It is important to define and understand Conversation Kills as a methodical, precise evolution on Shakespearean drama in current ‘Merica!’. Surely there can’t be another interpretation for the seemingly obvious premise of two white-privileged guys talking on a podcast. There must be more than that, as these have to be a metaphor of the Greek masks of acting- with the one laughing like a creep and the other missing a Thrice concert because of work. Do not be fooled by the innocuous premise as it is a staged Loganville tragedy which each episode is a tale, told by TWO idiots, full of beer and slur, signifying Nutrageous.
Act one: Send in the Fleet
Each week our heroes brave the unknown by either fighting a looming bear or taste-testing local beer (After 15 episodes I’ve have been promised by them that the bear episode should be out “shortly”). They are the few and the proud to try a IPA foamed out of a Georgia trailer made from a scoop of moonshine or meth, obviously depending on what silly name they have on the bottle.
Act Two: So… ahh, what’s up?
It is here that they try to dive right into the nitty gritty. However, after the lawsuit and retraining order passed by Nitty Gritty and his attorneys, they decided to just talk about stuff. These complex subjects prove to be a wide array of life-enriching topics that range all the way from sad white guys singing to Mexican-Americans sad guys singing for the Deftones that one time.
Act Three: Waxing Phil’s-Popsicle
Even as a manic liberal I appreciate a lot of their libertarian views as it is grounded in philosophy rather than Freedumb! non-sense and doesn’t make me throw my phone across the room (okay, a fewer amount of times). From Hiroshima to Bands playing in a Cantina, these guys got the stuff of gold, I’m talking City Slicker’s 2: Curley’s gold. You won’t be disappointed if you checked this out, but if somehow you are, just say to yourself it was all a ‘satire’ or a Lynch dream- I found that helped me like a whole lot of garbage in the past. Keep it up guys!!!
** For the sake of transparency I do have to disclose that I do own every IPA company mentioned on the podcast along with every venue they’ve been to, and of course I’m the chairman for the lobbying committee ‘Americans for Conversation Kills for Faith, Family, Farmers, Fracking and Freedom’.
