Has anyone listened to a play-by-play basketball announcer more skilled, more knowledgeable, and more articulate than Tim Roye?
Chick Hearne could deal, it's true, all those years calling the Lakers, innovative – much imitated -a great listen, indeed., but he could lapse into hyperbole and repetitive phrases.
For the Warriors Tim Roye set the bar so high-especially when he gets mad- and the bar gets even higher when he teams up with Tom Tolbert. The two are a delight to listen to, and I purposely won't watch the TV feed just to listen to them imagine/describe the game!
Their stories are on point and compelling,
And unlike most other broadcasters, they don't detract from the game itself. Thank you both for your intelligent, greathearted, imaginative broadcasting presence .
Your podcasts here also shine.
Like Steph Curry– we are lucky to have you two, and I can imagine in the future we will look back and say, wow, how lucky were we!?
