Ray originally wanted to play professional hockey and pursued that until it became clear that would not be his future. Even though he couldn't play professional hockey, Ray did play Roller Hockey for Team USA for three years, becoming a three-time world champion. Ray created the Main Beach Roller Hockey kids program in Fernandina Beach, Florida to reach area children through the sport.
