IN defense of digressions
Staring at the slow rotation of the ceiling fan, I listen to this podcast and ask "why?".
Why?
B + M spend time on Skype and talk because they are excited about the show.
Why?
The show is in the format it is because Natasha's insight that a coyly misleading guide and a new fan are a fun dynamic to which to listen.
Why?
It is a podcast because it can be downloaded on the ipod, silly
Why?
So I can have something fun to listen to while I walk.
------
And now I know “why.”
Some requests:
1. At the end of each season, B+M name their favorite ship.
2. At the end of each season, B+M name the best non-sexual character relationship.
3. At the end of the season, B speculates about what happens next season. No matter how accurate or inaccurate, M should coyly interrogate the speculations and make them sound as silly as they are.
4. Our dear Drag Queens rank all the outfits of the season.Do they get better or worse over the season? better then worse? worse then better? (This each season might say something about the story.)
5. Some episodes ago, B+M said that certain characters were in the wrong show. Before season 2, could B invite a character from another show and hypothesize a storyline or an interaction?

I clicked the chain on the fan and it moved faster; I was annoyed that my mind did not likewise move faster. That kind of technology only exists in science fiction, fantasy, and magical realism. Which is Alias? I am unsure, but I believe that it is not a neat room in the house of television, but a connecting hallway or secret passage—or even a servants’ passage. Interesting things happen in it, but it isn’t one thing or another.
------
I was ready to end this review when I realized that watching the fan rotate and pacing my thoughts to its motion is strange. Why do the gadgets in Alias so amaze, when most can be bought for cheap, and many are apps?
We think technologically now, but at the time the show was made we did not. Or not to the same degree.
-----
It has been odd listening to an Unspoiled (Unscrupled) show with no Natasha, but B&M work really well together. The drag queens, though steal the show every time they show up.
---
Keeping on task is important for spies, I hear, but being able to disguise one's Self by being able to seem to be anyone and anything. Dear Sidney is good at the seeming side, to the detriment of her Self--and her other skills as a spy.
If she spent less time in the fashion district, and more time homing her spycraft and fighting skills, perhaps she might actually be undetected and not need to fight. But if she were competent, the show would have to focus on Anna, Francie, Will and all of the interesting characters the Writers gave themselves but are too scared to use because their presence in the show reveals the inadequacy of the main character.
---
I click on the chain and the fan speeds up. T
Overall, B+M are doing an excellent job. More digressions would be nice, though, so long as they are amusing and are somehow tied into the main discussion in some way.
---
I click the fan chain again and it winds down to a stop. And so does this review.
P.S. What is Battle Star Galactica? You mentioned it in your last episode. I asked a friend and all I could understand is that it is about a future where humanity is destroyed because it was infiltrated by women in red dresses. Why not just kill all women in red dresses once that is realized?
