Episode 63: “No Money for a Very Long Time or...How to Drive Your Non-Profit into the Ground” (Jordana and Sean Williams)

Jordana and Sean Williams (a director and an actor/musician/audio engineer respectively) are two of the creative forces behind Gideon Media, a production company focused on crafting riveting science-fiction and horror stories for the audio drama space. Their current project is the binge-worthy science-fiction podcast “Give Me Away” (written by past Radio Zamunda guest Mac Rogers). All we can say is that you need get that ‘ish in your earholes right now. Oh and when you listen, you may even recognize the voice of Radio Zamunda’s own Ato! But back to Jordana and Sean… This conversation gave us… as the kids say… Life. There is a pragmatic purity in their relationship that fertilizes not only their art, but also each other. It’s simple, beautiful, honest and -may we argue- the engine that drives their exquisite brand of story-telling. Please enjoy this fantastically inspiring conversation. A little taste… “You can say that you’re any number of things, but eventually how you spend your time is the truth of your identity.”-Jordana Williams. PS. No Mac Rogers were harmed during the making of this podcast. #TheDopeShit Follow us on Instagram and Twitter @RadioZamunda #iTunes #Googleplay #Stitcher #Spotify Listen to Gideon Media's “Give Me Away” on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher or wherever you get your podcast fix. 08/04/2021

"Inspiration is a Discipline" Episode 60: (Perry Klebahn & Jeremy Utley)

Perry Klebahn and Jeremy Utley are adjunct professors and Co-Directors of Executive Education at Standford's d.school.  Together they teach "Leading Disruptive Innovation" which is described as a course "that teaches the coaching and leadership skills needed to drive good design process in groups."  As potentially prosaic as that sounds, their methodology is quite iconoclast.  Gone are the staid business plans and drab Powerpoint presentations traditionally used to motivate entrepreneurship.  Perry and Jeremy are looking to inspire.  More to the point, they are looking to facilitate and cultivate inspiration as a discipline in order to unlock the creativity that exists in all of us.  Afterall creativity is not magic. It is simply a solution to a problem.  The solution can be anything from a novel to a song to the Theory of Relativity or maybe even a pair of innovative snowshoes...  Join us for a wide-ranging and truly inspiring conversation.   #theDopeShit Listen to Radio Zamunda on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and all the rest of the podcast platforms. She's also one of the founders of the crowd funding community organizing site, IOBY (In Our Back Yards). “I spend a lot of time in rooms with those little translators in your ear listening to people negotiate and discuss how we deal with the climate crisis…” Yeah no big deal but Cassie is on the frontline in the battle against the single greatest threat to life on Earth. How’s it going? We’re not going to lie… It’s grim. We’re screwed. Episode 57: “Boy Deluxe” Hope Simpson and Drew Murray

“Maybe we can roll out/maybe never grow up/maybe you can be mine for a lifetime/Come a little closer/let me hear your secrets/tell me in a whisper/that i’m your favorite weakness… “ 'Beginning of the End' -Boy Deluxe Listening to Boy Deluxe is like finding yourself in a dark enchanted forest. Drew Murray’s beats are thick and massive like old growth tree trunks. The ominous low end rumbles like the growl of a mythic beast- just out of sight. It all feels huge and deep and dangerous… Maybe too dangerous were it not for your guide, Hope Simpson, flitting through the murky sonic twilight like a folkloric will-o’-the-wisps. She’s holding your hand and keeping you close as she leads you through the lush aural underbrush. Her voice is paradoxically quiet and powerful; chaste and bawdy… And always vulnerable. Always intimate. It’s like she’s telling you alone a secret… “Scratch at the surface/stay out of sight/hidden inside of it/afraid of the light…” 'Ashes' -Boy Deluxe Join us a we talk art, intimacy and collaboration with these two fascinating humans. #theDopeShit Follow Boy Deluxe on instagram @BoyDeluxe_ Check out their new EP “I Woke Up Like This Again” on Spotify Also check out the video for their single "Bundles" Music by Boy Deluxe: “Ride High”  “Weird Night”  “Spooky”  “Bundles”  Listen to Radio Zamunda on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and all the rest of the podcast platforms. 5. Episode 56 "Legacy" Danny Dunson

    04/21/2021

    Episode 56 "Legacy" Danny Dunson

“Blackness isn’t about exactness, it’s about knowing… So that we can remember.” “Your home is wherever you plant your feet and your feet are imbued with the power of our ancestors…” These are just two out of the multitude of jewels dropped by our next guest Danny Dunson; an art historian, curator, writer and one of the brothers behind the @LegacyBros instagram account (follow it right now). Danny’s passion centers on the art and artists of the Diaspora. In 2020 he initiated “Legacy Brothers Lab” a global arts residency which grants endowments and mentorship to develop budding artists in places like Ghana, Morocco, South Africa, Senegal, Haiti and Brazil. Danny works to center the art and history of the Diaspora on its own, and entirely independent of the ubiquitous Eurocentric construct. We can’t stress this enough, Danny wore us out with his brilliant observations and whip smart humor. He took us on a journey of discovery and failure, rebirth and redemption. We came away stunned and honored to be in his presence. Also, we want him to be our personal interior decorator. Oh and our stylist. This dude is just dope. Tune in. #thedopeshit Follow Danny on insta @LegacyBros and www.legacybros.net Listen to us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and all the rest of the podcast platforms. Please like and subscribe!
