    Holiness is Not Optional.

    What does Jesus really teach about sin, hell, holiness, and eternity? In Mark 9:42–50, Jesus uses some of His strongest language to show us that sin is serious, our influence matters, and eternity is at stake. In this message, we examine why Jesus tells us to radically deal with sin, what the Bible teaches about hell and judgment, and how the cross reveals both the seriousness of our sin and the greatness of God’s love. Hell tells us how serious sin is. The cross tells us how great God’s love is.     The Distraction of Self | When Jesus Changes the Way We See People

    While Jesus was talking about the cross, His disciples were arguing about who was the greatest. That contrast exposes a struggle we still face today: self can distract us from what Jesus is trying to do in us and through us. In Mark 9:30–42, Jesus turns the disciples’ idea of greatness upside down. In His Kingdom, greatness isn’t about being noticed, having the biggest ministry, or getting the best seat. Jesus says, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” In this message, we look at three important lessons: • Submit our pride to His authority • Serve others with His compassion • Accept believers who aren’t just like us The disciples wanted greatness. Jesus gave them a child. They wanted position. Jesus gave them a towel. They wanted to decide who belonged. Jesus reminded them that the Kingdom belongs to Him. The closer we follow Jesus, the less concerned we become with being important and the more concerned we become with being His.     Lord, Help My Unbelief | Faith, Prayer & Depending on Jesus

    In Mark 9:14–29, Jesus comes down from the Mount of Transfiguration and walks straight into a desperate situation: a suffering son, a hurting father, defeated disciples, and a problem no one seems able to solve. The father cries out one of the most honest prayers in Scripture: “I believe; help my unbelief!” — Mark 9:24 This message, “Lord, Help My Unbelief,” looks at what Jesus teaches us about faith, doubt, prayer, and our complete dependence upon Him. Our greatest need is not better circumstances, stronger methods, or more human ability. Our greatest need is to depend completely upon Jesus. In this sermon from Mark 9:14–29, we discover: • We are powerless without Christ. Yesterday’s victory cannot replace today’s dependence on Jesus. • Our problem is not Christ’s ability, but our unbelief. The question is never whether Jesus is able. • We can bring Jesus both our faith and our doubt. Weak faith in a strong Savior is better than strong confidence in ourselves. • Spiritual power comes through dependence upon God. Prayer says, “God, I cannot, but You can.” Maybe you are facing something today that looks impossible. You have worried about it, prayed about it, tried to fix it, and carried it long enough. Jesus’ invitation is still the same: “Bring it to Me.” Your faith does not have to be perfect.     The Transfiguration of Jesus Explained | A Glimpse of His Glory

    What really happened at the Transfiguration of Jesus, and why does it matter to Christians today? In Mark 9:1–13, Peter, James, and John are given an extraordinary glimpse of the true glory of Jesus Christ. The One they had followed, listened to, and watched perform miracles suddenly reveals what had been veiled by His humanity. Jesus did not become something He wasn't. His glory was revealed. In this sermon, “A Glimpse of His Glory,” we walk verse by verse through Mark 9:1–13 and discover what the Transfiguration teaches us about who Jesus really is. We will look at: • What Jesus meant in Mark 9:1 when He said some standing there would see the Kingdom of God come with power • Why the context points toward the Transfiguration • What it means that Jesus was “transfigured” • How the Transfiguration reveals the deity and glory of Christ • Why Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus • How Jesus fulfills the Law and the Prophets • Why Peter wanted to build three shelters • The significance of the Father's words, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him” • Why Moses and Elijah may give us a beautiful picture of believers at Christ's return • Why the glory of Jesus must be understood through the cross and resurrection • How John the Baptist fulfilled the Elijah prophecy • What the Transfiguration teaches us about the Second Coming and our future with Christ One of the most powerful statements in the passage comes after the cloud clears: “They no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only.” Mark 9:8 Moses was gone. Elijah was gone. The spectacular moment had ended. But Jesus remained. There will be mountaintops and valleys. There will be celebrations and funerals. There will be days when our faith feels strong and days when we wonder how we will take another step. But when everything else fades, Jesus remains. The great question of Mark 9 isn't simply, “Do you understand the Transfiguration?” The question is: WHO IS JESUS TO YOU? The glorious Christ on the mountain is the same Christ who went to the cross for sinners. He died, was buried, rose again, and one day He is coming again in glory. Don't just admire His glory. Listen to the Son. Trust Him. Follow Him. Worship Him. Because when everything else passes away, Jesus will still be standing.     What Does It Really Mean to Be Saved? | Mark 8:31–38 What does true salvation actually look like? In Mark 8:31–38, Jesus gives one of the clearest and most challenging descriptions of what it means to truly follow Him: “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace. We cannot earn it through good works, church attendance, baptism, or religious activity. But genuine salvation produces a changed life. Jesus did not call us simply to add Him to the life we already wanted. He calls us to surrender our lives to Him.
