On today’s #podcast @ivangluck18 a #holocaust survivor 87 years young has a simple credo: love each other, always assist others to reach their goals and the good guys will win.    When the Nazis came to Hungary they didn’t care if Jewish people were reformed, conservative or orthodox.    He has been a @nyrangers fan since immigrating to NYC and learned the game of #hockey which led to a tryout invitation from the @detroitredwings but instead chose faith and family over a potential @nhl career.   Hockey taught him life lessons: a game of inches, teamwork, camaraderie and unity whether winning or losing.  When you get knocked down you get back up.   He practiced with the Jerusalem Capitals before the @theofficialiehl last year & @waynegretzky sent a message to the team and Mr. Gluck.   At 67 he tried out for the Israeli baseball league.  Ran the 100 yard dash and finished 7th out of 85.  Was solid with the bat and glove too.    He has spoken to students in Florida where he resides about the Holocaust and told me a great story where it led to a connection with the @flapanthers GM Bill Zito.  His passion for life is infectious.   We have both dealt with antisemitism and one time used his brains to show some bullies that polio was invented by a Jewish doctor, Dr. Jonas Salk.  The fight was averted. Dan Fournier the obscure sports league fanatic came on today to talk about the the original #usfl league 1983-85.   Dan had a great story from the @jeff_pearlman book “Football for a buck” where owner John F. Bassett wrote a letter to NJ Generals owner @realdonaldtrump not happy with his handling of the league going from the spring to fall which led to their demise.   Dan has made over 250 USFL helmets & his USA team helmets that played in the @cfl are in their HOF.   Dan explained how the CFL is unique from the @nfl with three downs, how the teams are lined up each down but not happy with them getting rid of the rouge.    Want to meet @atlanticschooners fans.  Should be the 10th team in the CFL.   #worldhockeyassociation Dan had a great Gerry Cheevers story where he brought his Cleveland Crusaders jersey to get signed.   #worldfootballleague lasted a season and a half too.   He hasn’t been to see the @nyrangers @thegarden need to change that.   Dan also worked at @westdalecinema & @tiff_net with great stories about the late #robertduvall & clinteastwood plus Sports Trivia. Hey @b1gfootball who thought putting @umichfootball & @ohiostatefb on the same shirt was something everyone would want?   Never.  @indianafootball enjoy.    @umichbball has won 7 games by 40+ this season.  @coachdustymay is a man on a mission.  @thomaswdonovan @ari_gold24 @goldsteingroup26 & @brianbarnaby @nyrangers on a 3-13-2 stinker with their 7th shutout loss @thegarden this season & 9th overall.  It’s February 6th and they have 6 wins at MSG.  JT Miller “I don’t know” isn’t cutting it.  You’re the captain.  @artemiypanarin is gone and so is this #nhl season.  #chrisdrury the ship has sunk.   #sonnyjurgensen RIP.   Congrats Roger Craig @vinatieri @drewbrees @larryfitzgerald & #lukekuechly making @profootballhof still think LC Greenwood deserves his place in Canton.   #sblx taking @seahawks over @patriots 31-21.  Darnold will be locked in.   But a $180 hamburger no thanks.  Tar Heels beat up DOOK tomorrow night.   Barns @yankees spring training soon but @osvaldobido isn’t the second coming of Mo.   Sports trivia at the finish. Hey @thomaswdonovan @lindseyvonn would have been a hell of a hockey player.  Not sure how she’ll be able to do the downhill race on a torn ACL.  Need that stability in the knee but Lindsey says it’s 90 seconds.  I’m rooting for her.    @milanocortina2026 will also have the first #phillipines🇵🇭 athlete the winter games, skier Tallulah Proulx.   @israelbobsled @ajedelman oy vey sleighs this is so exciting.   But tonight @westminsterkennelclub their Super Bowl & the #probowlgames which even Justin Fields turned down.   @nfl don’t go to an 18 game season.   9 international games next season an all-time high.   Soon enough it will be 17.    The beard @jharden13 is headed to his 6th team the @cavs for @dariusgarland headed to @laclippers and I’m over Harden.
