    When Things Change in Your Life, I Am the Way

    In John 14 when Jesus makes a big announcement the disciples aren’t sure what to do with the information. The plan’s changing and the disciples start freaking out. Jesus twice tells them, “fear not.” It’s the passage where Jesus assures them in the midst of change, “I am the way, the truth, and the light.” Jesus wasn’t stating some concept or new idea. He was telling his disciples, “I am the way.” Jesus leads the way. We follow Him. The closer you are to him the more clear the way becomes. We have to stop thinking that Christianity is some moral code to follow and start seeing it as a daily side by side, best friends relationship with the person of Jesus. Do you have that kind of deal going on with Jesus? Or is it still in the ought to, gotta, should, better or else kind? The, well, if I do this then that happens. Such a better deal being offered than that. I want to know the guy or gal who came up with this otta Christianity and tell them how many people they mislead. Jesus is offering something so much better. Man o man. Let’s turn the corner for good. Out goes fear, judgment, comparison, shame, guilt and the rest. What a lousy version of pseudo Christianity. And when Jesus changes the plan, he says, just keep following me.

    A Call to Worship

    What do we do when we simply don’t feel like worshiping, or feel too distracted to worship? Psalm 103 begins with a surprising command: “Praise the Lord, O' my soul.” Rather than waiting for our feelings to lead us, the Psalm invites us to remind our hearts who God is and what He has done. He forgives, redeems, heals, satisfies, and surrounds us with steadfast love and compassion. He knows our weakness, loves us as a compassionate Father, and reigns over all things. We’ll call our own souls to remember God's character and his love for us. This can steady our hearts, awaken our worship, and lead us to a place of deep trust in the one who is worthy of worship.

    Decisions, Decisions

    It’s called analysis paralysis: the experience of having so many choices and so many angles to consider that actually making a decision feels impossible. In a time and place with arguably more options than any other in history and in a digital age where we are consistently exposed to the highlight reels of other people's lives, we know the experience of analysis paralysis all too well. Life is full of decisions large and small. So, how can followers of Jesus make wise decisions? And how can we discern God's leading and guidance when facing life's decisions? Join us as we look at the book of Proverbs and learn together to seek God's will and make wise decisions.

    Running on Empty

    We often assume that following Jesus means our faith should only grow stronger with time. But Elijah's story tells a different one. Right after his greatest victory came one of his darkest moments. We'll discover what God is like when we're exhausted, discouraged, or simply don't have anything left to give. I think you'll be encouraged.

    Fullness of Life Through Friendship with God

    David in Psalm 16 helps us see how God is inviting us into the fullest life by teaching us how choosing to embrace personal friendship with God rather than embracing the ways of the world leads to the greatest fulfillment and satisfaction.

    Trusting God When Nothing Makes Sense

    Our church will sent off 137 Kids, 19 Counselors, and 3 Staff members, up to Hume Lake for a life-changing summer camp experience, inviting them all to trust God with their lives. This is what we will talk about in the sermon on the Beach and in The Catalina Room. As kids head up to Hume Lake, we will wrap up our series on the intriguing life of Abraham, focusing on the most difficult test in his life—"sacrifice your son, your only son, the one you love.” How do we trust God when nothing makes sense, about ourselves, our dreams, or God himself? The confusing story is found in Genesis 22:1-18; might I suggest you read it as a story, letting it prod you to ask questions, some of which will not yield answers. The story points to a greater hope.

    A Meal With God

    We continue our "Dangerous Faith" series as we step into one of the most remarkable encounters in Scripture. In Genesis 18–19, the God of the covenant sits down to share a meal with Abraham, revealing the kind of relationship He desires with those He calls to Himself—not one of distance, but of fellowship, friendship, and trust. From that table, God invites Abraham into His own concerns, opening a conversation about righteousness, justice, and His heart for the world. As we follow Abraham through this extraordinary exchange, we'll discover that walking with God means more than receiving His promises—it means being drawn into His purposes and learning to care about what He cares about.
