Hedocares.org Hurricain Melissa Hurricane Melissa made landfall as a devastating Category 5 storm, packing sustained winds of over 160 mph and unleashing over 20 inches of torrential rain across the region. While the resort itself sustained damage, the most severe and immediate impact was felt by the staff community, many of whom reside in the surrounding areas of Westmorland. The storm's scale was immediately apparent, leaving countless homes severely damaged or destroyed, which rapidly escalated into a humanitarian crisis requiring an urgent, coordinated staff relief effort.
