I came to know this podcast during my first foray into Terrace House (i started with aloha state, don’t @ me i know that’s wack). Hosts Brenden & Andrea break down each episode and discuss the virtues and shortfalls of the interactions between our beloved house members. I really appreciate how Andrea sheds light on many unknown-to-me idiosyncrasies from the show with her experiences living in Japan (i.e setsubun, temples, dating culture, bath culture, the music industry, weddings in churches, j-pop, Japanese modeling industry, etc etc). Thank you, Andrea!
Brenden is a master podcast editor who makes the listening extra fun with silly little effects. He takes excellent show notes and steers the podcast to balance perfectly between staying on track and following meandering tangents.
Brenden and Andrea’s friendship and personal lore within the terrace house podcast add a layer of richness to the experience.
When Hana Kimura passed away I grieved for her, and for the loss of Terrace House. This thing that gave me so much pleasure became a source of deep pain. After almost a year in pandemic i decided to start rewatching the Opening New Doors season. It remains a balm, especially after a year of pandemic, insurrection, you name it.
Re-listening to this podcast in tandem with RE-watching Opening New Doors sparks a tremendous amount of joy in me. For that I am eternally grateful to Andrea & Brenden.
If you two ever decide to revisit the OG seasons and return to the podcast, I think the whole NSAA community would cheer you on.
With so much gratitude,
Laura
