The Latin Prayer Podcast

Dylan Drego

We are living in difficult times, both in the Church and in the world. Now more than ever, ordinary Catholics must fight for the salvation of souls and personal sanctity. Latin is the universal language of the Church, made holy when it was nailed to the Cross with Christ (John 19:19–20). It connects us to the worship of Heaven and strengthens our prayers. In 2017, I wanted to pray the Rosary in Latin but couldn’t find a podcast to follow. So I made one. It has since grown into a full library of Rosaries, Litanies, Chaplets, and other traditional prayers. I’ve also created Latin learning guides and printable resources, available through Patreon, to help you pray with clarity and confidence, whether on your own or with your family. This is about restoring Catholic prayer, reclaiming sacred tradition, and forming a movement of families praying daily in Latin for the salvation of souls and the renewal of Holy Mother Church.

Is Mary the New Eve? A Scriptural Case from Genesis 3 and John 19 | YT Catechesis

Is Mary the New Eve in Scripture?  In this episode of YouTube Catechesis, we examine the biblical case for Our Blessed Mother as the New Eve, parallel to Christ as the New Adam. Rather than relying on later theological development, this episode turns directly to Scripture in its original languages: Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, to examine the grammatical precision embedded in the text itself. We walk through three scriptural anchors: • Genesis 3:15 the Protoevangelium and the promise of the Woman and her seed • Romans 5:19 St. Paul’s Adam, Christ typology and reversal through obedience • John 19:26 “Woman, behold your son” at the foot of the Cross By examining the specific use of “woman” in Genesis and John’s Gospel, and by following St. Paul’s typological method in Romans, we consider whether the New Eve parallel is revealed in the structure of Scripture itself. This episode is explanatory and scriptural in focus, grounded in the language of the biblical text rather than later speculation. In the Patreon-only deep dive, we explore how the earliest Christians recognized and spoke about this New Eve typology long before the Reformation. Pontius Pilate inscribed "jesus christ" on the cross in "biblical hebrew", "koine greek", and Latin, highlighting their sacred use. This episode emphasizes the grammatical precision of these ancient languages, offering insights for "language learning" and a deeper understanding of "new testament" contexts. #neweve  #Genesis315 #CatholicScripture #Typology #blessedmother

Purgatory in the Latin Bible and the Latin Mass (NEW FORMAT) | YT Catechesis (Audio Only)

Does the Bible really teach that souls go straight to Heaven with no purification after death? In this episode of YouTube Catechesis from The Latin Prayer Podcast, we take a new approach, not standard apologetics, but letting the Latin sources themselves make the case. Rather than arguing from modern summaries, this episode returns to the foundations: • Sacred Scripture in the Latin Vulgate • Prayer for the dead in the Latin tradition • The Roman Canon of the Mass We examine three key Latin witnesses: • 1 Corinthians 3:15 — salvation quasi per ignem, “as through fire” • 2 Maccabees 12:46 — prayer pro mortuis, for the dead • The Roman Canon — praying for the departed to receive a place of refreshment, light, and peace Taken together, these texts show that the Latin tradition does not teach only two destinations after death. Scripture, liturgy, and prayer all assume purification, and the Church has always prayed accordingly. This episode marks the beginning of a new format for YouTube Catechesis on this channel, moving beyond surface-level apologetics and asking a deeper question: What does the Latin itself say? Latin Collect for the Lost (Deus Qui Errantibus) | FREE Latin Learning Guide (Audio Only)

“Deus qui errantibus” is an ancient Latin collect dating back to the 6th century, prayed for the return of the lost. This episode explores Deus qui errantibus, a powerful collect from the Roman Rite, preserved nearly unchanged for over 1400 years. First appearing in the Verona Sacramentary around 561-574 AD and later in the Gelasian and Gregorian Sacramentaries, this prayer intercedes for those who have wandered from the truth, asking God to shine the light of His truth so they may return to the path. We reflect on its timeless relevance, especially in seasons like Advent, when many return to Mass. Beyond pleading for the conversion of others, this collect calls Christians to reject what is unworthy of Christ’s name and to strive after what glorifies Him. This episode includes a full line-by-line breakdown of the Latin, with etymological insights that deepen our understanding of its theological beauty and linguistic precision.   Help us restore sacred tradition and bring timeless prayers to new ears.
