Lo-Fi Lectionary: Luke 19b - Jesus Enters Jerusalem

"How was your day, Jesus?" "Oh, it was alright. Cried a lot. Tore up a church. Bunch of God's people want to kill me. But, I got to ride a donkey, so, you know: the glass is half full. #Blessed."  This part of the story is getting really good, join us as we look at the rest of Luke 19. Lo-Fi Special: Bricks (aka Jesus Against the Cosmic Forces of Evil)

In the words of the late great theologian, Stanley Lieber: "With great power comes great responsibility." Unfortunately, for thousands of years, kings, pharaohs, chiefs, businessmen, presidents, and priests have destroyed paradise to make a palace for themselves. Some even did so in the name of their God. Our world groans and longs for heroes, but they seem hard to find. In Luke 4, a new king arrives and has to make the decision: will he use his great power for himself, or for the others? And it's a moment that will determine the fate of the universe. I was recently invited to speak at Trinity Heights Methodist Church in Flagstaff, AZ, and this is the story I had for us. I hope you enjoy it! Lo-Fi Lectionary: Luke 19a

There's a guy in a tree, and it gets Jesus really excited. Also, Jesus tells his followers to slow their roll, just a bit, before they make the final trek to Jerusalem. Lo-Fi Lectionary: Luke 18

Widows, Tax Collectors, Blind Beggars, and Snot-nosed kids: all of the folks who make it into the Kingdom of God in Luke 18! Jesus loves the weirdest, messiest people, and seems to think that they're closer to God than you'd imagine. Keep heart, and join us for this reall great part of the story. Should be fun. I'd love to hear your thoughts!  Join the conversation on Facebook @ "Lo-Fi Lectionary" Email us at LoFi@kevinlester.net  Please rate and review us on Facebook, iTunes, and Google Play! Lo-Fi Kitchen - Luke 17

Let's dig into Luke's Jesus and think about our weird human obsession with the end of the world - with the afterlife, judgment, and mercy - and ask ourselves - what if it's all just a waste of our time? What if we could be free from our fears and anxiety and invest ourselves fully in the good life and work we have today? Come into the kitchen and let Jesus confuse the Hell out of you for half an hour. Should be fun. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Lo-Fi Lectionary: Luke 17

I hope you like seeds, because Luke 17's got 'em! Also: Jesus loves foreigners, tells his followers that the apocalpyse is not all it's cracked up to be, and we learn about the SEA OF CHAOS.  Should be fun. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Lo-Fi Kitchen - Luke 16

Sometimes a piece of the story haunts you, and maybe that's not a bad thing. Let's look at the parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man, with a quick stop for a bit in the Cain and Abel story, as we ask: What if Jesus tells an afterlife story to actually talk more about our lives now? What is our responsibility to other people? What do we do with a God that protects and pursues God's own enemies? Should be fun. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
