The History of Poland Podcast

For many episodes to come, we'll be exploring the rich history of Poland. From it's humble beginnings, we'll follow the people of Poland as they form their own unique cultural identity, rise into a great European power, cross paths with the Mongol Horde, save Europe from an Ottoman invasion, and do their best to keep their independence firm from one generation to the next.

It is not easy to transcribe ancient texts into a compelling narrative. And all those strange names! I am traveling to Poland in December and this is very illuminating. Ed

There are so few podcasts about Poland. I’m of polish heritage and it has been pivotal for me to learn about our history. He is thorough, funny, and informative.

I absolutely loved this podcast. I’m Polish-American and it has been so challenging to find audiobooks and books about Polish history. I found this podcast to be incredibly interesting and funny. Trevor does a really good job explaining historical events in a way that makes sense. I binge-listened to the entire thing. I wish there were more episodes, but I’m grateful these are episodes are here and still live.
Informative and easy to follow

So happy to have stumbled on this podcast. I know shockingly little about my own heritage. This podcast has been wonderful to listen to. It is easy to understand, is well researched, and the host has great comedic timing. Big fan!!
Great History Lesson

It’s great to find a podcast that I can relate to, the history of my ancestors. Unfortunately the show looks to be on hiatus, sure hope it comes back.
Middling podcast poorly delivered

Cadence and speech: The presenter speaks far to fast, inexplicably whispers in numerous episodes, swallows his consonants, and slurs his way through multi syllable words. It is a chore to process his speech. Source material: At least a half of each episode is the presenter reading source material verbatim rather than synthesis of the material he has read. This is terribly boring to listen to. When he does speak in his own voice he does a fairly good job presenting his analysis but with an air of irreverence that quickly becomes tired and unprofessional. Pronunciation: The presenter fails to assign the right sounds to the right letters in Polish place names. While learning proper pronunciation is very hard - and I wouldn't expect him to learn Polish for a podcast series - you can get a basic handle on the alphabet in a day. If he hasnt done this most basic research before embarking on a sixty episode podcast it brings into question the rest of his research. (His reading of Wrocław is a particularly galling example) Picture a Polish podcaster of American history referencing “Nev Uork” and “Tsonetsitsoot” instead of New York and Connecticut - you would doubt their command of the material.
Important history of a forgotten land

I was looking for a history of Poland that I could listen to and not read. This not only answers that but is very informative. I can not be more happy and thrilled to have stumbled upon this podcast, The History of Poland! Thanks for all your hard work in putting it together.
Fantastic podcast!

My only gripe, probably just that I am impatient, is that I want to continue with the rest of the history of Poland, and it is incomplete. Hoping the amazing work of the creator continues with more episodes!
